About
Jack is searching for information on Hannah Derby (Berg) Sackett. She was born June 03, 1816 in West Springfield, Mass, and died April 18, 1903 in New Haven, Connecticut. She was a remarkable woman who accompanied her husband Robert Wilson Hume to Bombay, India in 1839. After Robert's death in 1854, she took her seven children to New Haven. Somehow she put the five girls and two boys through college -two of the girls went to Mount Holyoke and the boys to Yale. She was very active in her church, United Church of New Haven County, and she was very active in the support of Congregational missionary efforts in this country and in India. Her two sons returned to India on mission work. Two of her daughters also became missionaries.
