1753. Colonel Niram Sackett, 1797–1869, son of (730) Hon. Jehial and Semantha Knapp Sackett, was married, Sept. 30, 1824, at Washington, Dutchess County, N. Y., to Catherine Thorn, daughter of John T. Thorn and his wife Esther. He was born at Stanford, Dutchess County, N. Y., and acquired an academic education at the Hudson, N. Y., academy. From his early boyhood he manifested unusual interest in military affairs. In 1822 he was commissioned, by Governor Clinton, captain of militia company of his town. Two years later Governor Yates promoted him to the colonelcy of a Dutchess County regiment, which he commanded at the reception given General Lafayette at Paughkeepsie in 1824.
At an early age Mr. Sackett engaged in mercantile business at Mabbettsville in Dutchess County, in which he continued until 1829, when he removed with his father-in-law, John I. Thorn, to LaGrange in Cattaraugus Flats, now Irving, Chautaugua County, N. Y. The year following his arrival at LaGrange he was elected Justice of the Peace, and subsequently a judge of the Court of Common Pleas, both of which offices he held for a number of years.
He died at Irving, of heart disease, Oct. 22, 1869. An obituary notice accompanying the announcement of his sudden death contains the following summary of his character and public life at Irving: "Judge Sackett was affable and courteous in his manner, decided in his convictions. He was a man of strict integrity, had a comprehensive mind, and was scrupulously just; evincing in his official character those qualities which made him the able and just judge. His principal occupation during his residence in this county was farming, in which he was successful, leaving his family amply provided for. His death was deeply lamented by the entire community."

Isaac H Sackett

FatherHon Jehial Sackett (1768-1832)
MotherSamantha Knapp (1773-1845)
Birth28 November 1810, Dutchess County, New York StateG,1,2
Marriageabout 1853Anna Harding3
Isaac H Sackett, son of Hon Jehial Sackett and Samantha Knapp, was born in Dutchess County, New York StateG, on 28 November 1810.1,2 He married about 1853, Anna Harding.3 Anna was born in IrelandG about 1823.2
Isaac was named in his mother Samantha's will made at StanfordG on 2 October 1844. He and his brother Asa were each to have half of the real estate, sharing equally the stock and farming utensils. Isaac was unmarried at that date and his share was subject to reversion to his brothers John and Asa and sister Samantha.4
In 1850 Isaac was living in Washington, Dutchess CountyG, in the household of his brother Artemus and sister-in-law Laura, and was recorded in the census as Isaac H Sackett, a farmer, aged 38 and born in New York.5
In 1865 he was living in Stanford, Dutchess CountyG, and was recorded as Isaac H Sackett, aged 54 and born in Dutchess County. Living with him were his wife Ann, 42, and their children, Georgiana, 11, Smith, 9, and Joseph, aged seven.6
No records for Isaac and Ann/Anna have been found after 1865, and it would appear likely that they died soon after that date. Their daughter Georgiana was living with a family in Glastonbury, Connecticut, in 1870, while their sons were brought up in the households of other family members, Smith with his uncle Artemus, and Joseph with his uncle Phineas.
