Jonathan Sacket, son of Ozem Sacket and Mercy Weller, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 10 September 1763.^1,2,3 He died there aged 65 on 7 July 1829^3,4 and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield^G.⁸ He married at the First Church, Westfield^G, on 20 March 1788, Hannah/Joanna Sowl.^3,5,6,7 Jonathan's wife is named as Hannah in the marriage record. In subsequent records, she is Joanna. They were probably the same, although the gap in the births of children between 1791 and 1799 might suggest two wives. The only later reference to Hannah is in the 1874 death record of the daughter Julana. This would support the assumption that Hannah and Joanna were the same, as would the naming of Joanna's father as Sowl in her death record. Joanna was born in Massachusetts^G about 1767.⁹ She was baptized as an adult at the Church of Christ, Westfield^G, on 30 April 1819.¹⁰ She died aged about 85 in Westfield^G on 28 October 1853¹¹ and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield^G.⁸
     In 1790 Jonathan was living in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G. In his household were two men and three females.¹²

     Warham made his will in Westfield^G on 28 July 1853. He left the use of one-third of his real estate, together with his horse, pasture for a cow, farming tools, and household furniture, to his wife Eunice during her lifetime. He had apparently already conveyed his real estate to his son Warham and daughter Harriet Dewey, subject presumably to the widow's third. After his wife's death, the household furniture was to go to their granddaughters, Eugenia and Julia Whipple. The will was proved on 27 September 1853.¹⁷

     Ozem made his will in Westfield^G on 13 March 1846. He left his lands or the value thereof to be divided in various proportions of an estimated total value of $2,300. His brothers, Aaron, Warham, and Charles, and sister, Harriet, were each to receive a portion to the value of $500, and seven children of his deceased sister Mercy were to receive in total a portion of $300, this amount to be apportioned variously among them. He left $1 cash to each of six children of his "half-brother" Jonathan. According to Westfield registers of births, Ozem and Jonathan had the same parents, Ozem (Sr) and Mercy. The use of the term half-brother would appear to be a moral judgement based on Jonathan's birth just four months after his parents' marriage, a detail evidently still of significance more than eighty years later.¹⁰

Charles Sackett, farmer, son of Ozem Sacket and Mercy Weller, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 9 February 1780^1,2,3 and baptized at the Church of Christ, Westfield^G, on 21 November 1790.⁴ He died aged 68 in Westfield^G on 17 December 1848^1,5 and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield^G.⁷ He married in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts^G, on 21 October 1810, Sarah Woods.^1,6 Sarah was born about 1780.⁸ She died aged 82 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana^G, on 12 August 1862⁹ and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, New Albany^G.⁷
     Charles was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made at Westfield^G on 26 June 1799. He was left various specified lands.
     Charles and Sarah migrated west from Boston in 1824, settling in Louisville, Kentucky.

     Charles died on a return visit to Westfield in 1848, his wife Sarah remaining in Louisville. He was perhaps considering moving back to Westfield and settling on the land left to him by his brother Ozem. Sarah died in 1862 in New Albany, Indiana, across the river from Louisville.

Harriet Sacket, daughter of Ozem Sacket and Mercy Weller, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, in May 1785^1,2,3 and baptized at the Church of Christ, Westfield^G, on 21 November 1790.⁴ She died aged 90 in Westfield^G on 3 July 1875.^1,5 She married in Utica, Oneida County, New York State^G, on 16 January 1814, Eli Burt.⁶ A death record for Eli Burt has not been found. He was listed in the census in 1820 and 1830 as a householder in Westfield^G. He had presumably died before 1850 when Harriet was living alone.

     In 1870 she was living in Westfield^G and was recorded as Harriet Burt, aged 84. Her real estate was valued at $2,000 and she had personal estate of $500.¹⁰
     Harriet made her will in Westfield^G on 29 October 1849. She was by then a widow but did not have children. She owned a large farm and had other assets. She left her estate, expressed in various monetary amounts, to named children and grandchildren of her brothers and sisters. She deliberately left out other unnamed "children and grandchildren of my brothers and sisters, and my surviving brother, some of whom are well to do in the world or would not be benefitted by a legacy" to whom "I make no bequest", adding that she included this notice "to show that they are not forgotten by me."
     By the time of Harrriet's death nearly sixteen years later, there had been some changes and a schedule of heirs-at-law was drawn up by the executors for presentation to the Probate Court.
     The estate was valued at some $3,500, including proceeds of $1,700 from the sale of the farm.
     In distributing the estate, the executors kept to the proportions set out in Harriet's will, the monetary amounts by then increasing to two-and-a-half times the original sums.⁷

Philena Sacket, daughter of Moses Sacket and Eunice Cadwell, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 23 January 1771.^1,2,3 She died there aged 80 on 20 March 1851^1,4 and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield^G.⁸ She married at the First Church, Westfield^G, on 3 September 1795, William Noble, son of Mathew Noble and Lydia Eager.^1,5,6,7 William was born in Westfield^G on 28 March 1768.⁹ He died there aged 89 on 18 March 1858.⁹
     Philena was named as a beneficiary in her father's will made in Westfield^G on 17 April 1812. She had been provided for by her father during his lifetime and was remembered with a nominal bequest of $1.¹⁰
     In 1850 Philena was living in Westfield^G in the household of her husband William, 82, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Philena Noble, aged 79.¹¹

Lieutenant Martin Sacket, farmer, son of Moses Sacket and Eunice Cadwell, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 23 December 1776.^1,2,3 He died aged 85 in New York State^G on 7 June 1862^3,4 and was buried at South Plymouth Cemetery, Chenango County, New York State^G.⁶ He married in West Springfield, Massachusetts^G, on 11 January 1803, Miriam Bancroft, daughter of Isaac Bancroft and Mary Barrett.^3,5 Miriam was born in East Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut^G, on 29 October 1781.⁶ She died aged 92 in Plymouth, Chenango County^G, on 21 April 1874 and was buried at South Plymouth Cemetery^G.⁶
     Martin Sacket served in a Chenango County militia company during the war of 1812. He was commissioned First Lieutenant in the 12th Regiment, New York State Artillery, in 1816.

Her death record has Nathan.) Rachel was born in West Springfield, Hampden County^G, on 15 April 1784.^7,8 She died aged 72 in Westfield^G on 26 December 1856⁹ and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield^G.⁶

     In 1855 John's widow Rachel was living in Westfield^G and was recorded in the census as Rachael Sacket, aged 70. Also in the household were Lemuel and Lydia Sacket with their three young children. Lemuel was a son of Rachael's husband John's first cousin Russell Sacket.¹⁴

Heman Sackett, whip maker, son of Moses Sacket and Eunice Cadwell, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 30 September 1783.^1,2,3 He died there aged 67 on 7 January 1851^3,4,5 and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield^G.⁸ He married in Westfield^G on 25 November 1807, Experience Searle.^3,6,7 She was born in Granby, Hampshire County, Massachusetts^G, about February 1788.⁹ She died aged 85 in Westfield^G on 5 August 1873¹⁰ and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, Westfield^G.⁸

Frances "Fanny" Sacket, daughter of Moses Sacket and Eunice Cadwell, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 26 May 1786.^1,2,3 She died aged 73 in West Springfield, Hampden County^G, on 1 May 1860⁴ and was buried at Ashley Cemetery, West Springfield^G.⁹ She married at the First Church, Westfield^G, on 28 December 1815, Justin Bagg, her second cousin, son of Thomas Bagg and Eunice Sacket.^5,6,7,8
     Frances was named as a beneficiary in her father's will made in Westfield^G on 17 April 1812. She was to receive an amount of $60.¹⁰
     In 1850 Frances was living in West Springfield^G in the household of her husband Justin Bagg, 55, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Frances Bagg, aged 64. Their sons, Seymour, 30, and Franklin, 24, were living with them. There were also two farm laborers in the household.¹¹

Erastus Sacket, son of Moses Sacket and Eunice Cadwell, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 16 October 1790^1,2,3 and died there aged 35 on 23 November 1825.⁴
     Erastus was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in Westfield^G on 17 April 1812. He was to receive an amount of $800.⁵
     Erastus died intestate. His brother Israel was appointed administrator of his estate by the Springfield Probate Court on 7 February 1826. An inventory compiled by Israel is heavily amended but it is clear that Erastus had been cared for by family members. His estate was valued at some $600. Of this, $315 was proposed to be paid to his mother Eunice "for assisting in taking charge of the said Erastus for thirteen years before his decease." Other sums were due to "my brothers and sisters", Roxana and Frances being named, apparently relating to unpaid legacies from Erastus's inheritance from his father, and also "to taking care of the said Erastus since the decease of my father". A complication was that some undivided lands were held jointly by Erastus and Israel.⁵

Israel Sacket, farmer, son of Moses Sacket and Eunice Cadwell, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 6 September 1792.^1,2,3 He died there aged 58 on 20 May 1851^4,5 and was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield^G.⁷ He married in West Springfield, Hampden County^G, about 1820, Lucy Doane, daughter of Bethuel Doane and Lucy Greene.^1,6 Lucy was born in West Springfield^G in 1799.^1,8 She died aged 70 in Westfield^G on 12 December 1870⁹ and was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield^G.⁷

After providing for his wife Lucy's one-third dower, he left his estate to his sons Francis and Charles, conditional on their paying one-third of the value of the real estate to their sisters Harriet and Mary. The sisters' third was to be split two-to-one in favor of the younger daughter Mary. At the time of making his will, Israel's children were not yet of age. He appointed David Moseley, executor of his will, as guardian of his sons, while Israel's wife Lucy was to be guardian of their daughters. The guardians were to supervise the payment of monies, which were due to be paid by each son within three years of reaching the age of 21.¹¹
     In 1850 Israel was living in Westfield^G and was recorded in the census as Israel Sackett, a farmer, aged 51, and born in Massachusetts. Living with him were his wife Lucy, aged 50, and born in Massachusetts, and children, Harriet, 26, Francis, 25, Charles, 21, and Mary, aged ten. Also in the household was Lucinda Randall, 17.¹⁴
     In 1860 Israel's widow Lucy was living in Westfield^G and was recorded in the census as Lucy Sacket, aged 60 and born in Massachusetts. Also in the household were her unmarried children, Harriet, 36, and Charles, 31, and her son Francis, 33, with his wife Mary, 29, and their daughter Nettie, aged two.¹⁵
     In 1870 she was living in Westfield^G in the household of her son Charles, and was recorded as Lucy Sackett, aged 69.¹⁶
