Robert and Clara were divorced in about 1893 after Clara left to take up an acting career and Robert published newspaper advertisements disclaiming responsibility for his wife's mounting debts. In 1930 Abbie, aged 70, was living at Riverside Avenue, Greenwich, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, with her stepdaughter Maude and Maude's second husband Edgar Walz.16 She was also listed there in the 1940 census, living with Maude and Edgar.17 She remained at Riverside Avenue, GreenwichG, for the rest of her life, the last entry in the Greenwich Directory recording her death in 1958.15
