Martin Russell Sackett ... graduated from Syracuse University, class of 1880, and a short time thereafter was chosen principal of Gouverneur Wesleyan Seminary, of Jamestown, N. Y., and taught for seven years; after which he organized the Gouverneur Publishing Co., for the purpose of publishing the Northern Tribune, which paper he in 1907 still controlled. In 1892 he was elected treasurer of St. Lawrence County, and held that office for two terms. In May, 1903, President Roosevelt named him Consul to Prescott Canada, which post he was filling in 1907. He is an active member of the Masonic fraternity, the Odd Fellows, and other social and fraternal bodies. He is an able editorial writer, and is particularly effective as a speaker upon patriotic and anniversary occasions in the discussion of political, economic and historical subjects. For a number of years his services have been in demand in state and national campaigns.

Judge Sackett Dies at Home
McMinnville, Feb. 16—Judge Fred B. Sackett, 90, died Friday morning at his home here after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 P. M. Sunday. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery at Albany at 10:30 A. M. Monday.
Mr. Sackett had resided here since 1925 when he was elected judge of Yamhill county. serving six years. Previously he had been in the general merchandise business at Sheridan, Coburg and Jefferson.

Judge Sackett was born May 31, 1859 at South Plymouth, N. Y. He came to Oregon in 1890, living for a time at Granger, between Albany and Corvallis. He was educated at Cazenovia seminary and Syracuse university, New York.
He was married at Fulton, N. Y., September 7, 1887, to Hattie Ermina Schenck, who died in 1833. Six children were born to them, three of whom survive: Leland R. Sackett, Sheridan; Vernon M. Sackett, Salem; Sheldon F. Sackett, Marshfield.
Judge Sackett was a faithful member of the Methodist church and of the Masonic, Odd Fellows and W.O.W. lodges.
At Sheridan he served for a time as justice of the peace and was for many years a committeeman of the republican party.

Death of Seymour Sackett
End Came Suddenly Yesterday Morning—Was a Native of Westfield.
Springfield, Mass., July 14.—Seymour A. Sackett, sixty-one, died suddenly at his boarding place, 100 Bridge street, about 1 o'clock this morning. Mr. Sackett had been sick for about ten days with a stomach trouble, but no serious results were feared. This morning while attended by a young son who had come on from Revere to see his father, he suddenly passed away.
Mr. Sackett was a native of Westfield, where he lived for many years. He came to this city in the early part of May from Fitchburg and was selling a patent tampico brush, in the manufacture of which he was interested. For nearly twenty years past he had been a selling agent through this section for the Singer Sewing Machine company. He leaves a divorced second wife with two young daughters in New Haven, besides seven children by his first wife.

George Arthur Sackett, a dentist, son of George Sacket and Lucy Asenath "Betsey" Cowles, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 9 December 1853.1,2 He died there of pneumonia aged 29 on 23 January 1883.1,3 He married in WestfieldG on 16 August 1876, Clara Etta Brady, daughter of James Brady and Esther Miller.4 Clara was born in WestfieldG in 1856.5 After George's death Clara married second in WestfieldG on 8 October 1884, Andrew Fox, son of Hiram and Ozina Fox.6 She married third, presumably in Westfield, Charles Holmes.7 She died aged 41 in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 10 January 1897.7
