Daniel Sackett

Birth18 January 1788, New York StateG,1,2,3
Death16 November 18624
Marriage13 May 1813Abigail Smith1,5
Daniel Sackett, whose parents have not been identified, was born in New York StateG on 18 January 17881,2,3 and died aged 74 on 16 November 1862.4 He married on 13 May 1813, Abigail Smith, daughter of Elisha Smith and Mary Samson.1,5 She was born on 27 July 17946 and died aged 61 on 10 April 1856.7
In 1850 Daniel was living in Jefferson, Ashtabula County, OhioG, and was recorded in the census as Daniel Sacket, a laborer, aged 65 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Abigail, 56, and their sons, James, 21, and William, 14.8
In 1860 he was living at St Clair, MichiganG, in the household of his daughter Lucy and son-in-law Parker M Brown, and was recorded as Daniel Sackett, a farmer, aged 72 and born in New York.9
There were two Daniel Sacketts of about the same age found in Rensselaer County records, and there may be confusion between them. The Sacketts of America records this Daniel Sackett as the son of Captain Benjamin Sackett and Phebe Davis. However, there is strong evidence that the other Daniel Sackett, a merchant of Troy, who died in 1845, would have been the son of that family.
