Emma Harriet Sackett, daughter of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in St Peter in Thanet, Kent^G, on 29 January 1857.^1,2 Her birth was registered in the names of Harriet Emma and she was baptized as Harriet Emma at St Peter in Thanet^G on 8 March 1857.³ She died aged 83 in Thanet^G on 1 April 1940.^4,5 As Emma Harriett Sackett, she married at Ebenezer Chapel, Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 27 January 1884, Frederick William Woodward, a house painter, son of Stephen Woodward and Sarah Hobday.^6,7,8 Frederick was born in Thanet^G in 1858.⁹ He died there aged 56 in 1914.¹⁰
     In 1861 Emma was living at 4 Grays Cottages, Broadstairs, Kent^G, in the household of her parents William and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Harriett E Sackett, aged 4, and born in Broadstairs, Kent.¹¹
     Harriet/Emma appeared twice in the 1871 census, being recorded in both her parents' and grandparents' households. In 1871 she was recorded as living at 1 Thanet Road, Broadstairs^G, in the household of her parents William and Elizabeth, and was listed as Harriet Ann Sackett, a scholar, aged 14, and born in Broadstairs.¹² She was listed in the same census living at Albion Street, Broadstairs^G, and was recorded as Emma Sackett, a scholar, aged 13 and born in Broadstairs, in the household of her grandparents Francis and Hannah Sackett.¹³
     In 1881 she was living at 10 Albert Place, St Peter in Thanet^G, in the household of her uncle John Holley, a farm labourer, and was recorded as Ann Sackett, a dressmaker, unmarried, aged 24, and born in Broadstairs. Also in the household was her 13-year-old sister Annie.¹⁴
     It would appear that, by 1881, Emma Harriet was known as Ann, having been recorded as Harriet Ann in one of the 1871 listings. That this Ann was the same as Emma Harriet would appear to be confirmed both by the fact that her younger sister Annie was living with her and also that her address in 1881 (10 Albert Place) was surely the same as the address from which she married in 1884 (10 Albert Cottages.)
     In 1891 she was living at 2 Farley Cottages, St Peter in Thanet^G, in the household of her husband Frederick, 32, a house decorator, and was recorded as Emma H Woodward, aged 34 and born in Broadstairs. Living with them were their children, Mabel, 3, and Gilbert, aged ten months.¹⁵
     In 1901 she was living at 2 Farley Cottages^G in the household of her husband Frederick, 42, a house decorator, and was recorded as E H Woodward, aged 43. Living with them were their children, Mabel, 13, and Gilbert, 10, and Emma's widowed mother Elizabeth, 69. Also in the household were Emma's sister Annie and brother-in-law Charles with their daughter Nellie.¹⁶
     In 1911 she was living at 2 Farley Cottages^G in the household of her husband Fredrick, 53, a house painter, and was recorded as Emma Woodward, aged 55. Living with them were their children, Mabel, 23, and Gilbert, aged 20.¹⁷
     In 1921 she was living at 37 Upton Road, St Peter in Thanet^G, and was recorded as Emma Harriet Woodward, head of household, widowed, aged 63. Her unmarried daughter Mabel, 33, and her unmarried sister-in-law Rosa Woodward, 54, were living with her.¹⁸
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Harriet, now incapacitated, was living at 37 Upton Road^G. Her daughter Mabel and sister-in-law Rosa Woodward were living with her.¹⁹

William George Sackett, son of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in Broadstairs, Kent^G, in 1858.^1,2 He died there aged 98 in 1957.³ He married in Lambeth, Surrey^G, in 1888, Jane Woodward.^4,5 She was born about 1862 and died aged 39 in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1902.⁶
     In 1861 William was living at 4 Grays Cottages, Broadstairs, Kent^G, in the household of his parents William and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Wm G Sackett, aged 2, and born in Broadstairs.⁷
     In 1871 he was living at 1 Thanet Road, Broadstairs, Kent^G, in the household of his parents William and Elizabeth, and was recorded as William G Sackett, a scholar, aged 11, and born in Broadstairs.⁸
     In 1881 he was living at 16 Smithfield, London, Middlesex^G, and was recorded as William Sackett, a clerk (servant), unmarried, aged 24, and born in Kent.
[The nature of this establishment is unclear. The building was occupied by 35 unmarried men, all described as servants & most as warehousemen or clerks.]⁹

Living with him were his daughter Dorothy, 20, and sister-in-law Ethel Woodward, aged 40.¹¹
     In 1921 he was living at 98 Northdown Road, Margate^G, and was recorded as William G Sackett, a self-employed gas and water fitter, head of household, a widower, aged 62. His sister-in-law
Ethel Woodward, 50, was also in the household.¹²

Stephen Francis Sackett, son of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in Broadstairs, Kent^G, in 1860.¹ He died in infancy in St Peter in Thanet, Kent^G,² and was buried at St Peter in Thanet^G on 2 November 1861.³
     In 1861 Stephen was living at 4 Grays Cottages, Broadstairs, Kent^G, in the household of his parents William and Elizabeth., and was recorded in the census as Stephen F Sackett, aged ten months and born in Broadstairs.⁴

Ellen Charlotte Sackett, daughter of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1864.¹ She died there in infancy in October 1864² and was buried at St Peter in Thanet^G on 31 October 1864.³

Annie Charlotte Sackett, daughter of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in Broadstairs, Kent^G, in 1866^1,2 and died aged 54 in 1920.³ She married in Thanet^G in 1899, Charlie Alfred Smith.^4,5

     In 1891 she was living at Eastern Esplanade (Convalescent Home), Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Annie Sackett, housemaid, single, aged 24 and born in Broadstairs. The head of household was described as the mistress of an orphan house. Other occupants were a female cook and eight patients aged 6 to 14.⁸
     In 1901 she was living at 2 Farley Cottages, St Peter's, Broadstairs, Kent^G, and was recorded as Annie C Smith, aged 33 and born in Broadstairs. She was living with her husband Charles, 23, an insurance agent, and daughter Nellie, aged six months, in the household of her sister Emma and brother-in-law Frederick Woodward.⁹

Henry Gilbert Sackett, son of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1868.¹ He died there in infancy² and was buried at St Peter in Thanet^G on 17 May 1869.³

Frederick Charles Sackett, son of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in St Peter in Thanet, Kent^G, on 20 May 1870.^1,2,3 He died aged 93 in Pershore, Worcestershire^G, in 1964.⁴ He married there in 1894, Jessie Gray Cousland, daughter of James Cousland and Annie Tod.⁵ Jessie was born in Denny, Stirling, Scotland^G, on 30 April 1869^6,2 and died aged 81 at home at Hermon, Polesteeple Hill, Biggin Hill, Kent^G, on 4 January 1951.^7,8

     In 1891 he was living at Thanet Cottages, St Peter's, Kent^G, in the household of his parents William and Elizabeth, and was recorded as Frederick C Sackett, a gas fitter, unmarried, aged 21 and born in Broadstairs.¹⁰
     In 1901 he was living at High Brooms, Tunbridge Wells, Kent^G, and was recorded as Frederick Sackett, a gas works inspector, head of household, aged 31. Living with him were his wife Jessie, 31, and their children, Wallace, 5, and Elsie, aged two.¹¹
     In 1911 he was living at Hillside, Wingham, Kent^G, and was recorded as Frederick Charles Sackett, an evangelist, head of household, aged 41. Living with him were his wife Jessie, 41, and their children, Wallace, 15, Elsie, 12, and Grace, aged two.¹²
     In 1921 he was living at 18 Gensing Road, St Leonard's, Hastings^G, and was recorded as Frederick Charles Sackett, an evangelist, head of household, aged 51. Living with him were his wife Jessie, 52, and their daughter Grace, aged twelve.¹³
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Frederick and Jessie were living at Hermon, Orpington, Kent^G. Frederick was a retired "caravangelist."¹⁴
     Frederick's wife Jessie left a will which was proved on 6 February 1951 by their daughter Grace. Her estate was valued at £180.¹⁵

Ernest James Sackett, son of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in Broadstairs, Kent^G, in 1872.^1,2 He died aged 70 in Surrey (North Eastern Registration District)^G in 1942.³
     In 1891 Ernest was living at Thanet Cottages, St Peter's, Kent^G, in the household of his parents William and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Ernest James Sackett, a general labourer, unmarried, aged 19 and born in Broadstairs.⁴
     In 1911 he was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, in the household of his brother Gilbert and sister-in-law Mabel, and was recorded as Ernest James Sackett, a gas fitter, single, aged 38.⁵
     In 1921 he was living at 19 Bellevue Road, Ramsgate^G, in the household of Marianne Storey, proprietor of an apartment house, and was recorded as Ernest Sackett, a maintenance worker at the Municipal Gas Works, Ramsgate, a lodger, single, aged 48.⁶

Gilbert "Bertie" Sackett, son of William Francis Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Foord, was born in Broadstairs, Kent^G, on 5 September 1874.^1,2 He died aged 58 in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1933.³ He was employed as a gas inspector. He married in 1902, Mabel Agnes Dawson.⁴ Mabel was born on 20 February 1879.⁵ She died aged 66 at home at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, on 22 August 1945.^6,7
     Bertie was admitted, aged ten, to Salters Hill School, Lambeth, London^G, on 15 June 1885. He left on 7 September 1885. His previous school was Broadstairs National School where he had been a pupil for 4½ years. The family was living at 51 Sainsbury Road.²
     In 1891 Gilbert was living at Thanet Cottages, St Peter's, Kent^G, in the household of his parents William and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Gilbert Sackett, an errand boy, aged 16, and born in Broadstairs.⁸
     In 1911 he was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, and was recorded as Gilbert Sackett, a gas inspector, head of household, aged 36. Living with him were his wife Mabel, 32, and their children, Doris, 7, Ivy, 6, and Wilfred, aged two. Also in the household was Gilbert's brother
Ernest, aged 38.⁹
     In 1921 he was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, and was recorded as Gilbert Sackett, a gas inspector at Ramsgate Gas Works, head of household, aged 46. Living with him were his wife Mabel, 42, and their children, Doris, 17, Ivy, 16, Frank, 12, Olive, 8, twins Stanley and John, 6, and Harold, aged two.¹⁰
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Gilbert's widow (Mabel) Agnes was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, with her children, Olive, Stanley, and John.¹¹
     Gilbert's widow Mabel left a will which was proved on 5 October 1945 by their daughter Doris. Her estate was valued at £520.¹²

Doris May Sackett, daughter of Gilbert "Bertie" Sackett and Mabel Agnes Dawson, was born in Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 13 September 1903.^1,2,3,4 She died there aged 85 on 6 August 1989.^5,6 She married on 16 January 1947, George Jarvis.⁵
     In 1911 Doris was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, in the household of her parents Gilbert and Mabel, and was recorded in the census as Doris May Sackett, aged seven and born in Ramsgate.⁷
     In 1921 she was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, in the household of her parents Gilbert and Mabel, and was recorded as Doris May Sackett, a dressmaker, aged 17.⁸
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Doris living at 21 South Eastern Road, Ramsgate^G, and was housekeeper in the household of Martha Roser.⁹
     Doris proved her mother Mabel's will on 5 October 1945. Her estate was valued at £520.¹⁰

Grace Ivy Sackett, known as Ivy, daughter of Gilbert "Bertie" Sackett and Mabel Agnes Dawson, was born in Ramsgate, Kent^G, in 1905.^1,2 She died there aged 21 in 1926.³
     In 1911 Grace was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, in the household of her parents Gilbert and Mabel, and was recorded in the census as Ivy Grace Sackett, aged six and born in Ramsgate.⁴
     In 1921 she was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, in the household of her parents Gilbert and Mabel, and was recorded as Ivy Grace Sackett, a shop assistant at Woolworths in Ramsgate High Street, aged 16.⁵

Frank Wilfred Sackett, carpenter, son of Gilbert "Bertie" Sackett and Mabel Agnes Dawson, was born in Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 11 September 1908.^1,2,3 He died in 1993. He married in Thanet^G in 1930, Ellen May Eastland.^4,5 Ellen was born on 5 May 1911.³
     In 1911 Frank was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate^G, in the household of his parents Gilbert and Mabel, and was recorded in the census as Wilfred Frank Sackett, aged two and born in Ramsgate.⁶

     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Frank and Ellen were living at 4 Laundry Cottages, Laundry Road, Eastry, Kent^G. Frank was a maintenance engineer at a laundry.⁸

Malcolm Frank Sackett, son of Frank Wilfred Sackett and Ellen May Eastland, was born in Thanet, Kent^G, on 7 October 1931.^1,2 He died aged 77 in Tasmania, Australia^G, on 19 May 2009 and was buried at Kingston Lawn Cemetery, Kingston, Tasmania^G.⁴ He married first in Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 28 September 1957, Mary Elizabeth Galletly, daughter of Ernest G Galletly and Lily M Bryant.³ Mary was born in Thanet^G on 3 December 1938.^2,5 He married second in Australia^G Alice Elizabeth (Rowley) Edwards, widow of Raymond Benson Edwards. Alice was born on 29 March 1930.⁶ She died aged 80 on 4 April 2010⁶ and was buried at Woodbridge Cemetery, Tasmania^G.⁴
     Malcolm and Mary emigrated from Kent to Australia, departing from London on 2 July 1958, bound for Melbourne, Victoria, Australia^G, on the P & O liner Strathaird.²
