John Sackett, miller, son of Captain Adnah Sacket and Jerusha Pomeroy, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 27 June 17711,2,3 and baptized at the Church of Christ, WestfieldG, on 11 August 1771.4 He died aged 80 in Springfield, Hampden CountyG, on 10 December 18511,5 and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, WestfieldG.9 He married at the First Church, WestfieldG, on 23 October 1793, Lucinda Moseley, daughter of Israel Moseley and Abigail Chapin.1,6,7,8 Lucinda was born in WestfieldG on 26 November 1773.10 She died aged 81 on 23 April 185511 and was buried at the Old Burying Ground, WestfieldG.9
     John was listed in the census in 1800 and 1820 as a householder in WestfieldG.12,13
     At the time of his daughter Lucinda's birth in 1811 John was the proprietor of a hotel on the site of the old Woronoco house in WestfieldG.14 In 1830 and 1840 he was a householder in SpringfieldG.15,16
     In 1850 John was living in Springfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, aged 75, and born in Massachusetts. Living with him were his wife Lucinda, aged 77, and their widowed daughter Eliza Preston, aged 56.17
