Alfred Arthur Sackett, son of John Kemp Sackett and Mary Ann Doe, was born in West Ham, EssexG, on 15 January 18741 and baptized at Christ Church, Stratford, EssexG, on 1 March 1874.2 He died there aged 52 in 1926.3 He married at St Mary the Virgin, Little Ilford, EssexG, on 2 July 1905, Jane Louisa Townshend, daughter of ___ Townshend and ___ Barnes.4,5 Jane was born in Camberwell, SurreyG, in 18796 and died aged 64 in East Ham, EssexG, in 1944.7
     In 1881 Alfred was living at 1 Park Place, Stratford, West Ham, EssexG, in the household of his widowed mother Mary, and was recorded in the census as Alfred Sackett, a scholar, aged seven and born in Stratford, Essex.8
     In 1891 he was living at Cambridge Barrack, Woolwich Dockyard, London, and was recorded as Alfred Arthur Sackett, a drummer in the First Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, single, aged 18 and born in West Ham, Essex.9
     In 1911 Alfred's wife Louisa was living at 98 Lawrence Avenue, Manor Park, East Ham, EssexG, and was recorded in the census as Louisa Sackett, a laundry worker, aged 31 and born in Camberwell. Living with her were their children, Alfred, 3, and Henry Charles, aged one.10
     Alfred served in the British Army during the First World War, enlisting in the 6th Dragoons on 16 August 1915. He was discharged on 7 December 1915, having been irregularly enlisted. He was issued a Silver War Badge on 23 November 1917 in recognition of his having been honourably discharged.11,12,13
     In 1921 Alfred was living at 54 Parkhurst Road, East Ham, EssexG, and was recorded in the census as Alfred Sackett, a messenger at the Disposals & Liquidation Commission, Westminster, head of household, aged 47. Living with him were his wife Louisa, 42, and their children, Charles, 11, and Rita, aged eight.14

Robert John Sackett, son of John Kemp Sackett and Mary Ann Doe, was born in West Ham, EssexG, on 21 May 18801,2 and baptized at Christ Church, Stratford, EssexG, on 12 September 1880.3 He died aged 63 in Essex South Western Registration District, EssexG, in June 1944.4 He married at St Mary the Virgin, Little Ilford, EssexG, on 11 July 1904, Maria Mayne.5,6 Maria was born on 3 January 1881.2
     In 1891 Robert was living at 14 Fifth Avenue, Little Ilford, EssexG, with his widowed mother Mary Ann in the household of John Parker, and was recorded in the census as Robert Sacket, a visitor, aged 11 and born in Stratford, Essex.7
     Robert served as a private soldier during and after the First World War. He enlisted at Ilford, Essex, on 15 June 1915 in the Northamptonshire Regiment and was posted with the British Expeditionary Force to France on 25 November 1915. He was evacuated on 16 September 1916 and hospitalized in England for two weeks receiving treatment for an abscess. He was transferred to the Middlesex Regiment, on 22 February 1917, then again to the Royal Army Service Corps on 3 March 1917, and was posted to France on 15 August 1917 where he served as a driver until at least September 1918. He was discharged on the "sick and wounded" list from the Dispersal Hospital, Casualty Clearing Station, Eastleigh, on 27 March 1919 and was discharged from the Army on or after 24 April 1919.8,9,10,11
     In 1921 he was living at 115 Walton Road, Manor Park, EssexG, and was recorded as Robert J Sackett, a builder's labourer, head of household, aged 42. Living with him were his wife Maria, 39, and their children, Thomas, 17, Jane, 14, Edith, 10, Rosetta, 9, Robert, 6, and May, aged four.12
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Robert and Maria were living at 115 Walton Road, East Ham, EssexG. Robert was a builder's labourer, Maria a potato and pea picker.13

Mary Ann Sackett, daughter of Henry Sackett and Jane Tansley, was born in St Olave Southwark, SurreyG, on 27 December 18841,2 and baptized at St Mary's Church, Rotherhithe, SurreyG, on 18 January 1885.3 She died in Bromley, LondonG, in 1969.4 She married in Canning Town, LondonG, on 17 November 1917, Francis Thomas Fryer, son of William Fryer and Caroline Elizabeth Abbot.5,6 Francis was born in Mile End Old Town, LondonG, in 18847 and baptized at All Saints, Poplar, LondonG, on 24 June 1887.8 He died aged 83 in Hounslow, LondonG, on 20 July 19689 , leaving a will which was proved in LondonG on 8 November 1868.10
     Mary Ann was admitted, aged three, to Woolmore Street School, Tower Hamlets, LondonG, on 28 May 1888. She left on 3 July 1888. The family was living at 27 Cawdor Street.2
     In 1891 Mary was living at 47 Aberfeedy Street, St Leonards, Bromley, LondonG, in the household of her parents Henry and Jane, and was recorded in the census as Mary Ann Sackett, a scholar, aged six and born in Rotherhithe.11
     In 1901 she was living at 12 Philip Street, West Ham, EssexG, in the household of her parents Henry and Jenny, and was recorded as Mary Sackett, a dressmaker, aged 16 and born in Rotherhithe.12
     In 1911 she was living at 22 Totnes Road, Victoria Docks, Canning TownG, and was recorded as Mary Ann Sackett, aged 26, head forewoman in a perfumery factory. She was living with her father Henry as boarders in the household of John Page.13
     In 1921 she was living at 440 London Road, Croydon, SurreyG, in the household of her sister Edna and brother-in-law Albert Schooley, and was recorded as Mary Ann Fryer, aged 36. Her one-year-old son Francis was living with her.14
     Mary Ann and her husband Francis would appear to have separated soon after the birth of their son. In 1921 Francis was an unemployed dock labourer living at Rowton House, Whitechapel, LondonG, a hostel for down-and-out and low paid working men.15
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Mary Ann, describing herself as a widow, was living at 996 London Road, Croydon, SurreyG, in the household of her brother-in-law Albert Schooley. Mary Ann's son Francis was living with her.16

George Ernest Sackett, son of John Henry Sackett and Martha Jane Gratton, was born in Pancras, MiddlesexG, in 1888.1 He died aged 72 in Pembroke, WalesG, in 19612 and was buried at St John's Church, Pembroke DockG, on 15 March 1961.5 He married in PembrokeG in 1920, Amelia Rebecca Butler.3,4 Amelia was born in PembrokeG on 8 June 18926,7 and died there aged about 85 in 1978.7
     In 1891 George was living at St Pancras School, Leavesden, HertfordshireG, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, an inmate, aged three and born in Islington, London.8 Also in the home were Ernest Sackett, 5, and John Sackett, aged one, who were probably related.
     St Pancras School was a home and school for orphans and pauper children. It could take up to 400 boys and 250 girls. The boys were educated with a view to their becoming apprentices, many going into the army or navy as musicians. The girls were usually sent into domestic service.
     George completed a United States World War I draft registration card in Baltimore, Maryland, on 20 September 1918. He was then aged 27 and was a cook on the SS Port Augusta. His home addess was 3 Tremeyrick Street, Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, WalesG.9
     In 1921 George, aged 31, was a cook and crew member of the Trinity House ship Vestal at Trinity Wharf, Neyland, PembrokeshireG.10

Jessie Sackett, daughter of Francis Thomas "Frank" Sackett and Louisa Brown, was born in Lower Norwood, Lambeth, SurreyG, in 18881,2 and baptized at Christ Church, Gipsy Hill, NorwoodG, on 6 January 1889.3 She died in childhood in LambethG in 1894.4
     In 1891 Jessie was living at 22 Hardy Street, MaidstoneG, in the household of her parents Francis and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Jessie Sackett, aged two and born in Lower Norwood, Surrey.5
