Robert served as a private soldier during and after the First World War. He enlisted at Ilford, Essex, on 15 June 1915 in the Northamptonshire Regiment and was posted with the British Expeditionary Force to France on 25 November 1915. He was evacuated on 16 September 1916 and hospitalized in England for two weeks receiving treatment for an abscess. He was transferred to the Middlesex Regiment, on 22 February 1917, then again to the Royal Army Service Corps on 3 March 1917, and was posted to France on 15 August 1917 where he served as a driver until at least September 1918. He was discharged on the "sick and wounded" list from the Dispersal Hospital, Casualty Clearing Station, Eastleigh, on 27 March 1919 and was discharged from the Army on or after 24 April 1919.8,9,10,11

Mary Ann was admitted, aged three, to Woolmore Street School, Tower Hamlets, LondonG, on 28 May 1888. She left on 3 July 1888. The family was living at 27 Cawdor Street.2

George Ernest Sackett, son of John Henry Sackett and Martha Jane Gratton, was born in Pancras, MiddlesexG, in 1888.1 He died aged 72 in Pembroke, WalesG, in 19612 and was buried at St John's Church, Pembroke DockG, on 15 March 1961.5 He married in PembrokeG in 1920, Amelia Rebecca Butler.3,4 Amelia was born in PembrokeG on 8 June 18926,7 and died there aged about 85 in 1978.7
In 1891 George was living at St Pancras School, Leavesden, HertfordshireG, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, an inmate, aged three and born in Islington, London.8 Also in the home were Ernest Sackett, 5, and John Sackett, aged one, who were probably related.
