William Hewitt Sackett, boot maker of Shoreditch, Middlesex, son of John Richard Sackett and Catherine Hewitt, was born in ShoreditchG on 27 February 18511,2 and baptized at St John the Baptist Church, ShoreditchG, on 15 May 1853.2 He died aged 45 at home at 74 Seven Sisters Road, Holloway, LondonG, on 21 November 18963 and was buried at Islington Cemetery, LondonG, on 26 November 1896.6 He married at St John's Church, ShoreditchG, on 28 January 1871, Sarah Reynolds.4,5 She was born in Hackney, MiddlesexG, about 1852.7 After William's death, Sarah married at St Mary's Church, Islington, MiddlesexG, on 19 April 1900, William Edward Oakley Blanchard.8
     In 1851 William was living at 14 Ashford Street, ShoreditchG, and was recorded in the census as William Sackett, aged one month, born in Shoreditch, the son of John Sackett.9
     In 1861 he was living at 10 Herbert Street, Tower Hamlets, ShoreditchG, and was recorded as William Sackett, a scholar, aged 10, born in Shoreditch, the son of John Richard Sackett.10
     In 1871 he was living at 2 Fellows Street, St Leonard's, ShoreditchG, and was recorded as William Sackett, a bootmaker, head of household, married, aged 20, and born in Shoreditch. Living with him was his wife Sarah, aged 19, and born in Hackney.7
     William was listed on the electoral roll in 1873 and 1875, living at 2 Fellows Street, HackneyG.11 In 1877 he was living at 48 Mansfield Street, HackneyG,12 and from 1880 at 88 Mansfield StreetG.13
     In 1891 he was living at 137 Hoxton Street, ShoreditchG, and was recorded as William H Sackett, a boot maker (an employer), head of household, married, aged 40, and born in Shoreditch. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 39, and born in Clerkenwell, London, and their children, Rowland, 18, Harry, 11, and William, aged nine. Also in the household was a 15-year-old female general servant.14
     William's will, made in Holloway, MiddlesexG, was proved at the Principal Registry, London, on 1 January 1897. His widow Sarah was the executor. The value of his personal estate was £892.15
     William's widow Sarah was listed on the electoral register from 1899 to 1905, living at 74 Seven Sisters road, Islington, LondonG.16
     In 1911 William's widow was living at 67 Junction Road, Holloway, Islington, LondonG, and was recorded in the census as Sarah Blanchard, of independent means, head of household, a widow aged 59 and born in Clerkenwell. Living with her was her married son William, 30, and her granddaughter Eugenie, aged four.17

Annie Clara Sackett, daughter of William Hewitt Sackett and Sarah Reynolds, was born in Shoreditch, MiddlesexG, on 13 October 18711,2 and baptized at St John the Baptist Church, ShoreditchG, on 5 November 1871.3 She died aged 94 at Southfields Nursing Home, Southfields Road, Eastbourne, SussexG, on 23 June 1966.4,5 She was unmarried.
     In 1901 Annie was living at 6 Albert Terrace, Hermon Hill, Wanstead, EssexG, in the household of her maiden aunt Mary Ann Reynolds, and was recorded in the census as Annie Clara Sackett, living on her own means, single, aged 29 and born in Kingsland, London.6
     In 1921 she was living at 74 Hermon Hill, WansteadG, and was recorded as Annie C Sackett, a retired teacher, aged 49, single. She gave her relationship as "niece" but was the sole member of the household.7
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Annie was living at 130 Royal Parade, Eastbourne, SussexG, in the household of Elizabeth Tibbitts.8
     Annie left a will which was proved on 11 August 1966. Her estate was valued at £406.9

     In 1881 he was living at 2 Montague Road, LondonG, and was recorded as Warwick Sackett, a clicker, boot trade, head of household, married, aged 28. Living with him were his wife Amelia, 27, and their children, Warwick, 4, and Alice, aged two.10
     On 27 July 1887 Amelia, now a widow with four young children, was referred to the workhouse in ShoreditchG. She apparently found other means of support as the record states that she did not become chargeable.11
     In 1891 Warwick's widow was living at 8 Pitfield Street, Shoreditch, LondonG, in the household of her second husband George Dale, 39, a tailor, and was recorded in the census as Amelia Dale, a tailoress, aged 35 and born in London. Living with them were Amelia's children by her first marriage, Warwick, Alice, and Ada Sackett; George's daughter Camonda by his first marriage; and George and Amelia's children, Constance, Lilian, and Gertrude.12

Rose Juliet Sackett, daughter of John Richard Sackett and Catherine Hewitt, was born in Shoreditch, MiddlesexG, on 11 February 1855.1,2 She was baptized at St Leonard's Church, Shoreditch, MiddlesexG, on 17 October 1869 when aged 14.2 She died aged 38 at Holms Street, Hackney Road, ShoreditchG, on 27 December 1893.3,4 She was unmarried.
     In 1861 Rose was living at 10 Herbert Street, Tower Hamlets, ShoreditchG, and was recorded in the census as Rose Juliet Sackett, a scholar, aged 5, born in Shoreditch, the daughter of John Richard Sackett.5
     In 1871 she was living at 9 & 10 Herbert Street, St Leonards, Shoreditch, MiddlesexG, in the household of her parents John and Catherine, and was recorded as Rose Sackett, a machinist, aged 16 and born in Middlesex.6

Roland Algernon Sackett, shoe manufacturer, son of John Richard Sackett and Catherine Hewitt, was born in Shoreditch, MiddlesexG, on 18 May 18601,2 and baptized at St Leonard's Church, ShoreditchG, on 10 June 1860.2 He died aged 68 in Hackney, LondonG, in 1928.3 He married in the Isle of Wight, HampshireG, in 1900, Rebecca Quiney, daughter of Isaac Richard Quiney and Maria Strange.4,5,6 Rebecca was born in Stepney, LondonG, in 1869.7,8 She was probably the Rebecca Sackett aged 61 who died in Brighton, SussexG, in 1930.9

     In 1901 he was living at 21 Holmes Street, St Leonard's, ShoreditchG, in the household of his father John, and was recorded as Roland S Sackett, self-employed boot manufacturer working at home, married, aged 40 and born in Shoreditch. Living with him were his wife Rebecca, 32, and son Algernon, aged three months.13
     Roland and his brother Walter proved their father John's will in LondonG on 20 October 1905. His estate was valued at £1,111.14
     In 1911 he was living at 21 Holms Street, Hackney Road, ShoreditchG, and was recorded as Roland Sackett, a shoe manufacturer, head of household, aged 51 and born in Shoreditch. Living with him were his wife Rebecca, 42, and their children, Algernon, 10, and Kathleen, aged one.15
     In 1921 he was living at 70 Norfolk Road, HackneyG, and was recorded as Roland Algernon Sackett, a leather ranger at Lilley & Skinner, King's Cross, head of household, aged 61. Living with him were his wife Rebecca, 52, and their daughter Kathleen, aged eleven.16
