Mary Jane Sackett, daughter of Henry Sackett and Jane Stone, was born in Margate, KentG, in 1838.1 She was baptized at St John in ThanetG on 8 July 1838.2 She married at St Alphege, Greenwich, KentG, on 27 September 1866, Daniel Church Brasier, son of Daniel Church Brasier.3
     In 1841 Mary was living at East Crescent, St John, Margate, KentG, in the household of the Pound family, and was recorded in the census as Mary Sackett, aged three and born in Kent. With her was her brother Henry, aged one. Their parents Henry and Jane were living at West Northdown, St John, Margate, where Jane was pregnant with her daughter Elizabeth.4
     In 1851 she was living at 2 West Northdown, Margate, KentG, in the household of her parents Henry and Jane, and was recorded as Mary J Sackett, a scholar, aged 13, and born in Margate.5
     In 1861 she was living at Farm House, St John's, Margate, KentG, in the household of her parents Henry and Jane, and was recorded as Mary Jane Sackett, aged 22, and born in Margate.6
     Mary Jane was a witness at her sister Elizabeth's marriage at Holy Trinity Church, Margate, on 8 December 1864, and also at the marriage of her sister Emma at the same church on 22 June 1865.7,8

Henry Sackett, son of Henry Sackett and Jane Stone, was born in Thanet, KentG, in 18401 and baptized at St John in ThanetG on 26 April 1840.2 He died in childhood3 and was buried at St John in ThanetG on 24 January 1846.4
     In 1841 Henry was living at East Crescent, St John, Margate, KentG, in the household of the Pound family, and was recorded in the census as Henry Sackett, aged one and born in Kent. With him was his sister Mary, aged three. Their parents Henry and Jane were living at West Northdown, St John, Margate, where Jane was pregnant with her daughter Elizabeth.5

     In 1861 she was living at Farm House, St John's, MargateG, in the household of her parents Henry and Jane, and was recorded as Elizabeth Sackett, aged 19, and born in Margate.11
     Elizabeth's husband Edward left a will which was proved on 14 December 1870 by Elizabeth, her father Henry Sackett, farmer of Northdown, and Thomas Willett, farmer of Northdown, as executors. Effects were valued at under £200.7
     In 1871 she was living at Paragon Lodge, St Peter's, KentG, and was recorded as Eliz Layng, head of household, a widow, aged 29. She was of independent means. Also in the household was a female domestic servant.12
     In 1881 she was living at Sackett's Farm, St John's, MargateG, in the household of her recently widowed father Henry, and was recorded as Elizabeth Layng, a widow, aged 39, and born in Margate.13
     In 1891 she was living at Paragon Lodge, St Peter's, KentG, and was recorded as Elizabeth Tayling, head of household, a widow, aged 45, and born in Margate. Living with her was her widowed father Henry, aged 75. Also in the household was a female domestic servant.14
     In 1901 she was living at Paragon Lodge, Crow HillG, in the household of her widowed father Henry, and was recorded as Elizabeth Layng, a widow, living on her own means, aged 59, and born at Northdown, Kent.15

     In 1861 Elizabeth was living at Mote Hole, St Peter's, Sandwich, KentG, in the household of her parents John and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Sackett, a scholar, aged 12, and born in Sandwich.4
     Elizabeth was named as a beneficiary in her father's will made in SandwichG on 5 October 1880. She was to receive the residue of the estate after her brother John had received an amount of £2,000 and after various other smaller bequests. Her husband George was appointed executor of the will jointly with her brother.5
     In 1881 she was living at Moat Sole, St Peter's, Sandwich, KentG, in the household of her husband George Hooper, a corn and hay merchant, and was recorded as Elizabeth Maria Hooper, aged 35, and born in Sandwich. John Henry Sackett

John Henry Sackett, soldier, corn factor, cab proprietor, son of John Sackett and Maria Ann Bate, was born in Eastry, KentG, in December 1848.1 He died aged 42 in Pancras, LondonG, in 18902 and was buried at St Pancras CemeteryG on 17 June 1890.5,6 He married at Southwark Christ Church, SurreyG, on 15 March 1875, Martha Jane Gratton, daughter of George Gratton and Martha Dempsey.3,4 Martha was born in LambethG in 18567 and died aged 43 in PancrasG in 1899.8
     In 1861 John was living at Mote Hole, St Peter's, Sandwich, KentG, in the household of his parents John and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as John Henry Sackett, a scholar, aged 10, and born in Canterbury.9
     In 1871 he was living at Gillingham, KentG, and was recorded as John Henry Sackett, a private in the 2nd battalion, 23rd Regiment, Royal Welch Fusiliers, unmarried, aged 23 and born in Sandwich, Kent.10 He was discharged from the army on 18 December 1871 after 298 days' service.11
     John was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in SandwichG on 5 October 1880. He was left a sum of £2,000 less an advance of £100 already paid.12
     After John's death, his widow Martha had two daughters, father unknown. Lilian Sackett was born in January 1894 and Maud Sackett in about 1895. Both daughters were taken into care under the Poor Law and were admitted to St Pancras School (a Poor Law school), Leavesden, Hertfordshire, in January 1899, by when Martha was an inmate at the Highgate Infirmary in London. Martha died shortly after, during the first quarter of 1899.13
