John Strood Sackett, son of John Ashby Sackett and Sarah Ann Strood, was born in Elham, KentG, in 1881.1,2 He died there aged 26 in 1907.3 John's parentage is uncertain. The General Register Office birth index lists his mother as Drury. This would seem to contradict his second forename of Strood, and may be a transcription error. He married in ElhamG in 1902, Hannah Fagg.4,5 After John's death, Hannah married second in ElhamG, in 1909, John Hoile Warman. They had a son, Albert, in 1911, and a daughter, May, in 1915.6,7,8
In 1891 John was living at Folkestone, KentG, in the household of David Allen, a greengrocer, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, a scholar, a lodger, aged ten and born in Folkestone, Kent.9
In 1911 John's widow Hannah was living at 45 Hayles Buildings, Elliotts Row, Southwark, LondonG, in the household of her second husband John Warman, 35, a seaman, who was away at sea, and was recorded in the census as Hannah Warman, aged 31 and born in Folkestone, Kent. Living with her were her Warman stepchildren, John, 12, Sidney, 8, and Mary, aged six; her Sackett children, Edith, 9, and John, aged five; and her and John's son, Albert Warman, aged two months.10

"Nov 18, '48, Moses G Sacket, male, at Westfield, s. Moses Jr & Maria, father a farmer, b. Westfield, mother b. Westfield." - Based on age it would appear that Moses G of the birth record and Edwin Gilbert of the censuses were the same. The birth record "Moses" may have been in error, or the parents may have changed the name to Edwin soon after.
