William B Sackett, son of Edwin Gilbert Sackett and Anna "Annie" Dawson, was born in Putnam County, Florida^G, probably on 27 December 1900.¹ He died aged 49 in Brackettville, Kinney County, Texas^G, on 12 July 1950.^2,3 He married about 1920, Marie M Menchaca, daughter of Felipe Menchaca and Ladislada Garza.⁴ Marie was born in Texas^G on 9 October 1897.⁵ She died at the US Darnall Army Hospital, Fort Hood, Bell County, Texas^G, on 22 February 1979^6,7 and was buried at Killeen City Cemetery, Bell County^G, on 24 February 1979.⁶
     In 1910 William was living in Crescent City, Putnam County, Florida^G, in the household of his parents Edwin and Annie, and was recorded in the census as William B Sackett, aged nine and born in Florida.⁸
     In 1920 he was living at Cedar Avenue, Crescent City, Putnam County, Florida^G, in the household of his parents Edwin and Annie, and was recorded as William B Sackett, fisherman, aged 18.⁹
     In 1930 he was living at Fort Clark, Kinney County, Texas^G, and was recorded as William B Sackett, a US Army soldier, head of household, aged 29 and born in Florida. Living with him were his wife Marie, 30, and their children, Helen, 10, and James, aged eight. Also in the household was Marie's widowed mother Antonia De Gress, aged 65.¹⁰

James Harry Sackett, son of William B Sackett and Marie M Menchaca, was born in Texas^G on 4 September 1921.¹ He died aged 77 on 21 September 1998^1,2 and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia^G.^1,4 He married in Marylebone, London^G, in 1944, Beatrice Elizabeth Jefcoate, daughter of Fred Jefcoate and Esther ___.³ Beatrice was born in London, England^G, on 23 June 1924.¹ She died aged 89 on 24 March 2014⁵ and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery^G.¹
     In 1930 James was living at Fort Clark, Kinney County, Texas^G, in the household of his parents William and Marie, and was recorded in the census as James Sackett, aged eight and born in Texas.⁶
     James was a career soldier. He enlisted in the US Army in 1940 and saw service in the Second World War. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1948, rising to the rank of major and serving until 1963, including service in the Korean War.^1,7,8
