Sidney Rupert Sackett, son of William Henry Sackett and Martha Randall, was born in Orsett, EssexG, in 18821 and baptized there on 4 June 1882.2 He died aged 37 at home in 37 Whitehill Road, Gravesend, KentG, on 8 May 19193,4 and was buried at St Giles and All Saints, OrsettG.6,7 He married in Stockport, CheshireG, in 1909, Eleanor W Birkett, daughter of Joseph W Birkett.5 Eleanor was born in Southport, LancashireG, on 16 September 1877.8,9 She died aged 78 at home at 15 Shrublands Close, Chelmsford, EssexG, on 27 November 195510,4 and was buried at All Saints Church Cemetery, Springfield, EssexG.11

The Brigade was re-armed with modern 18-pounder field guns and went to Basra, Mesopotamia (now Iraq), under the command of the 17th (Indian) Division. George served there for nearly two years from May 1917 to March 1919, returning home via India in May 1919.8

Alice Maud Sackett, daughter of Alfred Thomas Sackett and Elizabeth Arthur, was born in Totnes, DevonG, on 21 October 1892.1,2,3 She died aged 77 in Torbay, DevonG, in 1970.4 She married in TotnesG in 1916, Fred Marchant.5,6 Fred was born on 23 June 1892.3
In 1901 Alice was living at North Embankment, Dartmouth, DevonG, in the household of her parents Alfred and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Alice Sackett, aged eight and born in Dartmouth.7
In 1911 she was living at Mayor's Avenue, Dartmouth, DevonG, in the household of her parents Alfred and Elizabeth, and was recorded as Alice Maud Sackett, a dressmaker, aged 18 and born in Dartmouth.8
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Fred and Alice were living at 9 Britannia Avenue, Dartmouth, DevonG. Fred was a goods carman on the Great Western Railway.9
