John Sackett, wheelwright, son of John Sackett and Elizabeth Pilcher, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1838^1,2 and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 2 December 1838.² He died aged 77 in Eastry, Kent^G, in 1916.³ He married in Worth^G on 17 November 1860, Maria Smith.^4,5 Maria was born in Ash next Sandwich, Kent^G, about 1840⁶ and died aged 79 in Eastry^G in 1919.⁷
     In 1841 John was living in St Peter's, Sandwich, Kent^G, in the household of his grandparents, James and Mary Pilcher, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, aged two and born in Kent.⁸
     In 1861 he was living at Love Lane, Sandwich, Kent^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a wheelwright, head of household, married, aged 22 and born at Margate. Living with him was his wife Maria aged 21 and born at Ash, Kent. Also in the household was a visiting baby, Charles John Smith.⁹
     In 1871 he was living at Felderland, Worth, Kent^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a wheelwright, head of household, married, aged 32 and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Maria, 31, and their children, James, 7, Elizabeth, 5, Susan, 3, and William, aged eleven months.¹⁰

     In 1891 he was living at Walnut Tree Cottage, Worth Village^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a carpenter and parish clerk, head of household, married, aged 52 and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Maria, 51, and children, John S, 17, Ruth M, 12, and Frank P, aged nine.¹¹
     In 1901 he was living at 8 Canon Flowers Cottages, Worth^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a wheelwright, head of household, married, aged 62 and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Maria, aged 61 and born in Ash, their unmarried sons John, 26, and Frank, 19, and their grandson Cecil, aged seven.¹²
     In 1911 he was living at Cold Cross, Worth, Kent^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a wheelwright, head of household, aged 73 and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Maria, 73, and their unmarried son John, 37.¹³

James Pilcher Sackett, son of John Sackett and Elizabeth Pilcher, was baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 11 October 1840.^1,2 He died aged 18³ and was buried at St Gregory, Canterbury, Kent^G, on 26 September 1858.⁴
     An 1841 census record for a Jane Sackett, aged ten months, in the household of John and Elizabeth Sackett at Cranbourne Alley, St John, Margate, Kent^G, is taken to be an enumeration error for James Sackett.⁵
     In 1851 James was living at Mount Pleasant, Canterbury, Kent^G, in the household of his parents, John and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as James P Sackett, a scholar aged ten and born in Margate, Kent.⁶

Thomas Sackett, son of John Sackett and Elizabeth Pilcher, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1842^1,2,3 and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 29 May 1842.³ He died aged 17 in Canterbury, Kent^G, in 1859⁴ and was buried at St Gregory, Canterbury^G, on 29 May 1859.⁵

     In 1851 Elizabeth was living at Mount Pleasant, Canterbury, Kent^G, in the household of her parents, John and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Sackett, a scholar aged 7 and born in Hythe, Kent.⁵
     In 1861 she was living at 15 The Parade, Canterbury, Kent^G, and was recorded as Elizabeth Sackett, a 17-year-old unmarried servant in the household of James Batchelor, a hatter.⁶

Thomas Sackett, gas fitter, son of Thomas Sackett and Mary Ann Stanner, was born in Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 30 July 1848^1,2 and baptized at St George's Church, Ramsgate^G, on 27 August 1848.³ He died aged 75 at home at 6 Princes Crescent, Margate, Kent^G, on 1 August 1923^2,4,5 and was buried at Margate^G on 4 August 1923.⁹ He married at Holy Trinity, Margate^G, on 6 August 1871, Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, daughter of Benjamin Simpson and Eliza Craycraft.^6,7,8 Harriet was born in Ramsgate^G on 1 May 1848.² She died aged 75 in Margate^G on 25 June 1923^2,10 and was buried there on 29 June 1923.¹¹

Living with him were his wife Harriet, 61, their children, Alma, 31, William, 26, and Kate, 24, and their grandchildren, Nellie, 11, and Alma, aged ten. Also in the household was a female lodger.¹⁸
     In 1921 he was living at 6 Princes Crescent, Margate^G, and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, an unemployed gas fitter, head of household, aged 72. Living with him were his wife Harriett, 73, and their granddaughter Alma E Sackett, aged 20.¹⁹
     Administration of Thomas's estate was granted on 6 October 1923 to his son George. His estate was valued at £142.²⁰

Eliza Ann Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Mary Ann Stanner, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1850¹ and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 14 July 1850.² She married at St George's Church, Battersea, Surrey^G, on 18 June 1882, William Woollett, son of Thomas Woollett.³
     In 1851 Eliza was living at King Street, St John's, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Eliza Ann Sackett, aged one and born in Margate, daughter of Thomas Sackett.⁴
     In 1861 she was living at 28 King Street, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Eliza Ann Sackett, aged 11 and born in Margate, daughter of Thomas Sackett.⁵
     In 1871 she was living at 35 Grosvenor Place, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Eliza Sackett, unmarried, aged 21 and born in Margate, a domestic servant in the household of George Aldridge, a retired ironmonger.⁶
     In 1881 she was living at 67 Dane Road, St John's, Margate, Kent^G, in the household of her sister Kate and brother-in-law James Knott, and was recorded as Eliza Sackett, an unemployed domestic servant, unmarried, aged 30, and born in Margate.⁷

George Sackett, a plasterer, son of Thomas Sackett and Mary Ann Stanner, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1852^1,2 and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 28 March 1852.² He died aged 50 in Birchington, Kent^G, on 27 August 1902³ and was buried at All Saints, Birchington^G, on 30 August 1902.⁶ He married in Blean, Kent^G, in 1875, Louisa Else, daughter of Ann Else.^4,5 Louisa was born in Pluckley, Kent^G, in 1852⁷ and baptized there on 19 January 1853.⁸ She died aged 74 in Birchington^G on 22 May 1926^9,10,11 and was buried at All Saints, Birchington^G, on 29 May 1926.¹²
     In 1861 George was living at 28 King Street, Margate^G, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, aged nine and born in Margate, son of Thomas Sackett.¹³
     In 1871 he was living at 70 King Street, Margate^G, in the household of his parents Thomas and Mary, and was recorded as George Sackett, a plasterer, unmarried, aged 19.¹⁴
     In 1881 he was living at 30 Northumberland Road, Margate^G, in the household of his uncle Stephen S Sackett, and was recorded as George Sackett, a plasterer, married, aged 29 and born in Margate. His wife and family were living at Chapel Street, Preston next Faversham, Kent, and she was recorded as Louisa Sackett, wife (head), plasterer's wife, married, aged 28 and born in Pluckley, Kent. Living with her were her children Alice, 5, twins Edith and Frederick, 3, and Lillian, aged ten months.^15,16

     In 1911 George's widow was living at 3 Perfects Cottages, Birchington^G, and was recorded in the census as Louisa Sackett, a widow on parochial relief, head of household, aged 59. Living with her were her children, Lillian, 36, Louis, 25, Ernest, 23, Kate, 22, Sydney, 18, and Edmund, aged 15, and her granddaughter Alice Elmer, aged 13.¹⁹
     In 1921 she was living at 3 Perfect Cottages, Birchington^G, and was recorded as Louisa Sackett, a widow, head of household, aged 68. Living with her were her daughters, Lilian, 41, who was blind, and Kate Euden, 32, a widow, with her daughter Lilian, aged six. Also in the household were Louisa's grandchildren, Alice Elmer, 23, and Edmund Elmer, 21, children of Louisa's deceased daughter Alice.²⁰

Martha Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Mary Ann Stanner, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1853¹ and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 24 August 1853.² She died aged 20 in Margate^G on 4 September 1873^3,4 and was buried at St John in Thanet^G on 8 September 1873.⁵
     In 1861 Martha was living at 28 King Street, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Martha Sackett, aged seven and born in Margate, daughter of Thomas Sackett.⁶
     In 1871 she was living at 70 King Street, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Martha Sackett, aged 17 and born in Margate, unmarried daughter of Thomas Sackett. Martha may have been the mother of 11-month-old Emma also recorded in this household.⁷

Elizabeth Mary Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Mary Ann Stanner, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1854¹ and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 28 January 1855.² She married at All Souls Church, Hampstead, Middlesex^G, on 30 April 1879, George Lansberry, a policeman, son of James Lansberry.³

Catherine Sarah "Kate" Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Mary Ann Stanner, was born in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1856¹ and baptized at Holy Trinity Church, Margate^G, on 2 September 1860.² She married in Thanet^G in 1876, James Knott.^3,4
     In 1861 Catherine was living at 28 King Street, Margate^G, and was recorded in the census as Catherine Sackett, aged 3 and born in Margate, daughter of Thomas Sackett.⁵
     In 1871 she was living at 70 King Street, Margate^G, and was recorded as Catherine Sackett, a scholar aged 14 and born in Margate, daughter of Thomas Sackett.⁶
     In 1881 she was living at 67 Dane Road, St John's, Margate^G, in the household of her husband James Knoel, a grocer's assistant, aged 26, and born in Margate, and was recorded as Kate E. Knoel, aged 22, and born in Margate. Living with them were their daughters Lilian, 7, and Kate, aged one, and Catherine's unmarried sister Eliza.⁷
