John Moore, son of Stephen Moore and Sarah West, was baptized at Minster in Thanet, Kent^G, on 9 September 1759.¹ He married there on 18 October 1789, Esther Mullet.²

Sarah Moore, daughter of John Moore and Esther Mullet, was baptized at Minster in Thanet, Kent^G, on 24 August 1791.¹ She married at St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 25 April 1811, Isaac Steed.²

Alma Georgina Annie Sackett, daughter of Richard John Sackett and Alma Horwood, was born in West Ham, Essex^G, in 1896.¹ She married in West Ham, Essex^G, in 1922, Samuel G Ausett.^2,3
     In 1901 Alma was living at 14 Cathall Road, Leyton, Essex^G, in the household of her parents Richard and Alma, and was recorded in the census as A G A Sackett, aged four and born in West Ham.⁴
     In 1921 she was living at 56 Holloway Road, Leytonstone, London^G, in the household of her parents Richard and Alma, and was recorded as Alma Sackett, aged 24, single.⁵

Elizabeth Violet Sackett, daughter of Richard John Sackett and Alma Horwood, was born in West Ham, Essex^G, in 1898¹ and died there in infancy in 1901.²
     In 1901 Elizabeth was living at 14 Cathall Road, Leyton, Essex^G, in the household of her parents Richard and Alma, and was recorded in the census as E U Sackett, aged three and born in West Ham.³

Henry William Sackett, son of Eli John Sackett and Amelia Terry, was born in St George in the East, Stepney, Middlesex^G, in 1857¹ and baptized there on 1 November 1857.² He died aged 82 in Surrey Mid Eastern Registration District^G in 1939.³
     Henry enlisted on 22 August 1876 as a gunner in the Royal Artillery, and served in South Africa and Mauritius. He was discharged medically unfit, suffering from mania, on 22 September 1885.⁴
     In 1881 Henry was living at Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as William Sackett, a gunner, unmarried, aged 23, and born in London.⁵
     In 1901 he was living at London County Lunatic Asylum, Ilford, Essex^G, and was recorded as H W Sackett, a general labourer, a lunatic and pauper patient, single, aged 43 and born in St George's, London.⁶
     Henry worked spasmodically as a waterside labourer, but his mental illness resulted in frequent admissions to hospitals and workhouses.⁷

May Beatrice Sackett, daughter of John Henry Sackett and Martha Jane Gratton, was born in Regent's Park, Pancras, Middlesex^G, on 5 September 1886.^1,2 She died aged 88 in Pembroke, Wales^G, in 1974² and was buried at St John's Church, Pembroke Dock^G, on 2 January 1975.³ She was unmarried.
     In 1891 May was living at The Orphans' Home, St George, Southwark, London^G, and was recorded in the census as May B Sackett, an orphan, aged four and born at Regent's Park, Middlesex.⁴
     In 1901 she was living at The Orphans' Home, Astral Street, Southwark, London^G, and was recorded as May Beatrice Sackett, a scholar, aged 14, and born at Regent's Park, London.⁵
     In 1921 she was living at 2 Tremeyrick Street, Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire^G, in the household of Benjamin Butler and family, and was recorded as May Sackett, a boarder, aged 34.⁶

Elizabeth Sackett, daughter of John Sackett and Maria Smith, was born in Worth, Eastry, Kent^G, in 1865.¹ She died aged 27 following childbirth in Eastry, Kent^G, in 1893.²
     In 1871 Elizabeth was living at Felderland, Worth, Kent^G, in the household of her parents John and Maria, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Sackett, aged five and born in Worth.³
     In 1881 Elizabeth was living at The Bungalow, Malden, Surrey^G, in the household of Henry Simpson, a retired Royal Navy commander, and his wife Eliza, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Sackett, a parlourmaid, aged 15, and born in Worth, Kent.⁴

William Sackett, son of Martha Sackett, was born in Margate, Kent^G, on 10 April 1872.^1,2,3 (Identification of William with mother Martha is tentative, based on his being in the same workhouse in 1881 as Emma whose identification with Martha derives from the 1871 census where Emma was in the household of Martha's father Thomas.) William married at St Mary's Bryanston Square, St Marylebone, London^G, on 25 December 1903, Florence Deverelll, daughter of William Deverelll.^4,5 Florence was born in Bermondsey, Surrey^G, on 18 November 1877.^6,2,3 She died aged 72 at home at 19 Gransden Road, Shepherds Bush, London^G, on 5 January 1951.^7,8
     In 1881 William was living at the Isle of Thanet Union Workhouse, Minster in Thanet, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as William Sackett, a scholar, inmate, aged nine, and born in Margate. Also in the workhouse was Emma Sackett, aged 11, assumed to have been his sister.⁹
     In 1901 he was living at the Avenue Hotel, 25 Shaftesbury Avenue, St James's, London^G, and was recorded as William Sackett, head barman, single, aged 32 and born in Margate.¹⁰
     In 1911 he was living at 31 Vespar Road, Shepherds Bush, London^G, and was recorded as William Sackett, a hoist worker in a bakery, head of household, aged 40 and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Florence, 33, and their children, William, 6, and Elsie, aged three months.¹¹
     In 1921 he was living at 13 Gransden Road, Hammersmith, London^G, and was recorded as William Sackett, a self-employed motor driver, head of household, aged 49. Living with him were his wife Florence, 43, and their children, George, 16, and Elsie, aged ten.¹²
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, William and Florence were living at 13 Gransden Road, Hammersmith^G. William was a taxi driver. Their daughter Elsie was living with them.¹³
     William's wife Florence left a will which was proved on 30 January 1951 by their daughter Elsie. Her estate was valued at £2,065.¹⁴

Lilian Knott, daughter of James Knott and Catherine Sarah "Kate" Sackett, was born in Margate, Kent^G, about 1874.¹
     In 1881 Lilian was living at 67 Dane Road, St John's, Margate, Kent^G, in the household of her parents James and Kate, and was recorded in the census as Lilian Knoel, aged seven and born in Margate.²
     In 1891 she was living at 34 Northumberland Road, Margate^G, in the household of her parents James and Kate, and was recorded as Lily B Knott, aged 16 and born in Margate.³

Kate Elizabeth Knott, daughter of James Knott and Catherine Sarah "Kate" Sackett, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1880.^1,2

     In 1891 she was living at 34 Northumberland Road, Margate^G, and was recorded as Kate Knott, a schoolgirl, aged 12 and born in Margate.⁴
     In 1901 she was living at 72 Northumberland Road, Margate^G, in the household of her parents James and Kate, and was recorded as Kate Knott, single, aged 21 and born in Margate.⁵

James Thomas Sackett, Royal Navy steward and later a florist, son of John Sackett and Maria Smith, was born in Sandwich, Eastry, Kent^G, on 26 December 1863^1,2,3 and baptized at Worth, Kent^G, on 3 April 1864.⁴ He died aged 68 in Portsmouth, Hampshire^G, in 1933.⁵ He married in St Mary's Church, Portsea Island, Hampshire^G, on 27 May 1889, Amelia Jane Bellchamber, daughter of George Augustus Bellchamber and Sarah Ann Every.^6,7,8 Amelia was born in Portsmouth^G in 1867.⁹ She died aged 94 in Weymouth, Dorset^G, in 1961.¹⁰

     James served for twelve years in the Royal Navy from 7 October 1880 to 10 September 1892, seeing service in ten ships. He overstated his age by a year to gain entry.¹²
     In 1881 James was aboard HMS Superb and was recorded in the census as James Thos Sackett, a ward room servant, unmarried, aged 19 [actually 17], and born in Sandwich.¹³
     In 1891 he was living at 20 Marlborough Row, Portsea, Hampshire^G, and was recorded as James T Sackett, a Royal Navy steward, head of household, aged 27. Living with him was his wife Amelia, aged 24.¹⁴
     In 1901 he was living at 96 Kingston Road, Portsmouth^G, and was recorded as James Sackett, a florist, head of household, married, aged 37 and born in Worth, Kent. Living with him were his wife Amelia (listed as Angelina), 34, and their children, Ivy, 9, Lylie, 7, and Ida, aged four. Also in the household was Amelia's unmarried sister Ada Bellchamber, 28.¹⁵
     In 1921 he was living at 24 Bath Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire^G, and was recorded as James Thomas Sackett, a steward on the White Star liner SS Adriatic, head of household, aged 57. Living with him were his wife Amelia, 54, their daughter Ida, 24, and Ida's husband Ernest Willie, 27.¹⁶
