Thomas Alfred Sackett, a gas fitter of Faversham, Kent, son of Thomas Sackett and Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, was born in Faversham^G on 31 December 1873^1,2,3 and baptized there on 6 March 1874.⁴ He died aged 71 at home at Hillcrest, The Cross, Eastry, Kent^G, on 29 March 1945^5,6,7 and was buried at Faversham^G on 3 April 1945.⁵ He married at Ss Peter & Paul Church, Ospringe, Kent^G, on 10 June 1899, Eleanor Violet Bubb, daughter of George Bubb.^8,9,10 Eleanor was born on 10 June 1879.⁵ She died aged 29 in Faversham, Kent^G, on 7 November 1908^5,11 and was buried there on 11 November 1908.⁵

     In 1891 he was living at 14 Kingsnorth Road, Faversham, Kent^G, and was recorded as Thomas A Sackett, a gas fitter's assistant (lock), aged 17 and born in Faversham, the son of Thomas Sackett.¹³
     In 1911 he was living at 2 Richmond Road, Ramsgate^G, and was recorded as Thomas Alfred Sackett, a grocer's assistant, head of household, a widower, aged 37 and born in Faversham.¹⁴
     In 1921 he was living at 83 Askew Crescent, Hammersmith, London^G, and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, an unemployed sheet metal worker, a widower, aged 47.¹⁵
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Thomas was living at The Cross, High Street, Eastry, Kent^G, with his daughter Nellie. He was a shopkeeper selling confectionery and tobacco.¹⁶
     Thomas left a will which was proved on 27 November 1945 by his granddaughter Marjorie Rose Eleanor Mott. His estate was valued at £2,095.¹⁷

John Stephen Sackett, son of Thomas Sackett and Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, was born in Faversham, Kent^G, on 28 February 1876^1,2 and baptized there on 31 March 1876.^1,3 He died aged 78 in Thanet, Kent^G, on 10 August 1954^1,4 and was buried at Margate, Kent^G, on 14 August 1954.⁵
     In 1881 John was living at 6 Linfield Cottages, Faversham, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as John S Sacket, a scholar aged 5 and born in Faversham, son of Thomas Sacket.⁶
     In 1891 he was living at 14 Kingsnorth Road, Faversham^G, and was recorded as John S Sackett, a grocer, aged 15 and born in Faversham, the son of Thomas Sackett.⁷
     In 1901 he was living at 2 High Street, South Norwood, Croydon, Surrey^G, in the household of John Roberts, manager of a grocers' stores, and his wife Louisa, and was recorded as John Sackett, a grocer's assistant, unmarried, aged 25 and born in Faversham.⁸
     In 1911 he was living at 45 Buckingham Road, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded as John S Sackett, a grocer, head of household, single, aged 35 and born in Ospringe, Faversham, Kent. He was living alone.⁹
     In about 1902 John moved to Margate where he set up his own grocer's business at 45/47 Buckingham Road. Four years later he bought another grocer's business at 16 St John's Road, Margate. Business prospered and the £100 which he had borrowed against the purchase price of £200 was paid off in a few years. In 1912 he opened a third shop at 9 Cranbourne Place, Margate. Following the outbreak of war in 1914, the businesses suffered a reverse. In an attempt to rescue the situation, John disposed of the stock at Buckingham Road and sold the business at Cranbourne Place. With no end to the war in sight, trade was insufficient to sustain the remaining shop at St John's Road and, facing financial ruin, John was forced to cease trading in 1917. A statement of affairs in bankruptcy, published in November 1917, showed a deficiency of £1,318.¹⁰

Elizabeth Harriet Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, was born in Faversham, Kent^G, on 18 March 1878^1,2,3 and baptized at St Mary of Charity Church, Faversham^G, on 12 April 1878.^1,4 She died aged 78 at home at 16 Hanger Lane, Ealing, Middlesex^G, on 23 September 1956^1,5,6 and was buried at Margate, Kent^G, on 28 September 1956.⁷ She was unmarried. Elizabeth, or one of her sisters Alma or Harriet, would have been the mother of Alma Elizabeth Sackett, born in 1901.
     In 1881 Elizabeth was living at 6 Linfield Cottages, Faversham, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth K Sacket, aged three and born in Faversham, daughter of Thomas Sacket.⁸
     In 1891 she was living at 14 Kingsnorth Road, Faversham, Kent^G, and was recorded as Elizabeth H Sackett, a scholar, aged 13 and born in Faversham, the daughter of Thomas Sackett.⁹
     In 1901 she was living at Lynton, Stone Road, Broadstairs, Kent^G, in the household of Barry Cleveland, a retired insurance manager, and his wife Harriett E Cleveland, a school proprietress, and was recorded as Elizabeth H Sackett, parlourmaid, single, aged 23 and born in Faversham. Also in the household were 4 teachers, 7 pupils, and 2 other servants.¹⁰

     In 1921 she was living at 23 Durley Dean, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Elizabeth Harriett Sackett, a servant in a hotel, aged 39 [actually 43].¹²
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Elizabeth was a domestic servant in a Stein family household at Rougemont, Exeter Road, Dawlish, Devon^G.¹³
     Elizabeth left a will which was proved on 27 November 1956 by solicitors. Her estate was valued at £665.¹⁴

Alma Sarah Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, was born in Faversham, Kent^G, on 24 January 1880.^1,2 She died aged 77 on 23 February 1957.² Alma, or one of her sisters Elizabeth or Harriet, would have been the mother of Alma Elizabeth Sackett, born in 1901. She married at Thanet, Kent^G, in 1919, Albert E Sheaf.^3,4

     In 1911 she was living at 16 St John's Road, Margate^G, in the household of her parents Thomas and Harriet, and was recorded as Alma Sarah Sackett, a grocer's assistant, single, aged 31 and born in Faversham.⁸

Harriet Eliza Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, was born in Faversham, Kent^G, on 28 December 1881.^1,2 She died after 1972.² Harriet, or one of her sisters Elizabeth or Alma, would have been the mother of Alma Elizabeth Sackett, born in 1901. She married at Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales^G, in 1903, Archibald Kelly.³

     In 1901 she was living at Sangers Restaurant, High Street, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Harriett E Sackett, single, aged 20 and born in Faversham, a servant nurse in the household of Alfred Knight, a hotel proprietor.⁵

William James Sackett, son of Thomas Sackett and Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, was born in Faversham, Kent^G, on 3 June 1884.^1,2 He died aged 80 in Manly, New South Wales, Australia^G, in 1964.³
     In 1891 William was living at 14 Kingsnorth Road, Faversham, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as William J Sackett, a scholar, aged 6 and born in Faversham, the son of Thomas Sackett.⁴
     In 1911 he was living at 16 St John's Road, Margate, Kent^G, in the household of his parents Thomas and Harriet, and was recorded as William James Sackett, a grocer's assistant, single, aged 26 and born in Faversham.⁵
     William served in the First World War, enlisting in the 18th Light Trench Mortar Battery of the Australian Imperial Force on 23 October 1916.⁶

Kate Maria Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, was born in Faversham, Kent^G, on 19 June 1886.^1,2 She died aged 70 in Ealing, London^G, on 9 September 1956.^2,3 She married in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1911, Harry Baker.⁴

     In 1911 she was living at 16 St John's Road, Margate^G, in the household of her parents Thomas and Harriet, and was recorded as Kate Maria Sackett, a grocer's assistant, single, aged 24 and born in Faversham.⁷

Lily Clara Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, was born in Faversham, Kent^G, on 18 September 1890^1,2 and died there in infancy on 23 June 1891.^1,3
