William Sackett, son of William Sackett and Lydia Hooff, was born in Rotherhithe, Surrey^G, on 6 June 1806¹ and baptized at St Mary's Church, Rotherhithe^G, on 24 July 1806.¹ It is assumed William died in infancy before the birth on 18 April 1808 of a brother, also named William.

William James Sackett, son of William Sackett and Lydia Hooff, was born in Rotherhithe, Surrey^G, on 18 April 1808¹ and baptized at St Mary's Church, Rotherhithe^G, on 8 May 1808.¹ He died aged 37² and was buried at St Mary's Church, Rotherhithe^G, on 12 December 1845.⁴ He married at St Mary's Church, Newington, Surrey^G, on 23 July 1832, Mary Ann Hancock.³ She was born about 1815.⁵
     In 1841 William was living at Queens Street, Rotherhithe, Surrey^G, and was recorded in the census as William Sackett, a labourer, aged 32 and born in Surrey. Living with him was his wife Mary Ann, aged 26.⁵

Mary Sackett, daughter of William Sackett and Lydia Hooff, was born in Bermondsey, Surrey^G, in 1818.¹ She died there aged six in 1824 and was buried at St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey^G, on 1 February 1824.² Mary is assumed to have been the daughter of William Sackett as they were buried on the same day.

John Sackett, son of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was born in Garlinge, Kent^G, in 1820¹ and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 20 August 1820.¹ He died aged 52 in Canterbury, Kent^G, in 1872.² He married in Woodnesborough, Kent^G, on 22 April 1838, Elizabeth Pilcher, daughter of James Pilcher and Mary W ___.^3,4,5 She was born in Goodnestone, Kent^G, about 1817.⁶ She was possibly the Elizabeth Sackett who died in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1890.⁷
     In 1841 John was living at Cranbourne Alley, St John, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, a carrier, aged 21 and born in Kent. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 24, and "Jane" Sackett, aged ten months, taken to refer to their son James. Also in the household was James Wanns?, 72, a greengrocer.^8,9
     In 1851 he was living at Mount Pleasant, Canterbury, Kent^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a gardener, head of household, married, aged 30 and born in Garlinge, Kent. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, aged 33 and born in Goodnestone, Kent, their children, James, 10, Thomas, 9, and Elizabeth, 7, and a 3-month-old nurse-child, Mary Ann Burgess.¹⁰
     In 1861 he was living at Union Street, Canterbury, Kent^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a gardener, head of household, married, aged 40 and born in Garlinge. Living with him was his wife Elizabeth, aged 44, and born in Goodnestone.¹¹
     In 1871 he was living at 4 Vernon Place, Canterbury, Kent^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, an unemployed gardener, head of household, married, aged 50 and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth aged 54 and born in Goodnestone, his uncle Samuel Stonham, a 65-year-old widower, and Esther Black, a 13-year-old female general servant.¹²

Mary Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1822 and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 20 January 1822.¹

Martha Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was baptized at Birchington, Kent^G, on 30 March 1823.¹ She married in St Lawrence Church, Little Stanmore, Middlesex^G, on 30 July 1848, George Cox.²

Thomas Sackett, son of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was baptized at St John in Thanet, Kent^G, on 13 March 1825.¹ He died aged 50 in Margate^G on 1 June 1875^2,3 and was buried at St John in Thanet^G on 5 June 1875.⁶ He married at St George's Church, Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 14 May 1848, Mary Ann Stanner, daughter of Stephen Stanner.^4,5 Mary was born in Ramsgate^G about 1826⁷ and died aged 80 in Thanet^G in 1906.⁸

     In 1871 he was living at 70 King Street, Margate^G, and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, a carrier, head of household, married, aged 46 and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Mary, aged 45 and born in Ramsgate, their children, Thomas, 22, George, 19, Martha, 17, Elizabeth, 16, Catherine, 14, a five-year-old boarder George Writnell, and 11-month-old Emma Sackett, also described as a boarder. Emma may have been an illegitimate daughter of Martha.¹²
     In 1891 Thomas's widow Mary was living at 34 Northumberland Road, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Mary A Sackett, a widow, aged 65 and born in Ramsgate. She was living with her daughter Kate and son-in-law James Knott.¹³
     In 1901 she was living in the household of her daughter Kate and son-in-law James Knott, and was recorded as Mary Sackett, a widow, aged 74 and born in Margate.¹⁴

George Sackett, mariner of Margate, Kent, son of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 27 February 1827.¹ He died aged 31 in Thanet^G,2 and was buried at St John in Thanet^G on 22 January 1858.⁵ He married at St John in Thanet^G on 13 July 1851, Emma Boreman, daughter of John Boreman.^3,4 Emma was born in Canterbury, Kent^G, about 1831.⁶
     In 1841 George was living at King Street, St John, Margate, Kent^G, in the household of his parents Thomas and Martha, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, aged 14 and born in Kent.⁷
     In 1861 George's widow Emma was living at Coldharbour Square, Canterbury, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Emma Sackett, a charwoman, head of household, a widow, aged 29 and born in Canterbury. Living with her were her daughters, Sarah, 11, and Emma, aged six. Also in the household was a male boarder.⁸

Elizabeth Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was baptized at St John in Thanet, Kent^G, on 5 April 1829.¹ She married there on 26 October 1851, Thomas William Castell, son of William Castell.^2,3

Eliza Ann Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 16 January 1831.¹ She married at St John in Thanet^G on 26 October 1851, William Grant, a mariner, son of Richard Grant.^2,3

Edward Henry Sackett, brewery worker of Margate, Kent, son of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was baptized at St John in Thanet, Kent^G, on 27 January 1833.¹ He died in Margate^G,2 and was buried at St John in Thanet^G on 27 January 1894.⁵ He married at Holy Trinity, Margate^G, on 24 April 1859, Susannah Elizabeth Holness, daughter of John Holness.^3,4 Susannah was born in Deal, Kent^G, about 1831^6,7,8,9 and died in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1907.¹⁰

Living with him were his wife Susannah, aged 49, and born in Deal, and her unmarried sister Emma Holness, aged 30.⁹

     In 1841 Catherine was living at King Street, St John, Margate, Kent^G, in the household of her parents Thomas and Martha, and was recorded in the census as Catherine Sackett, aged six and born in Kent.³
     In 1851 she was living at King Street, Margate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Catherine Sackett, unmarried, aged 16, and born in Margate. She was a house servant in the household of Emma Boorman, next door to her parents Thomas and Martha.⁴

William Setterfield Sackett, butcher of Margate, Kent, and Brixton, Surrey, son of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was born in Margate^G in 1836 and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 15 May 1836.¹ He died aged 62 at home at York House, 1 Cambria Road, Camberwell, Surrey^G, on 26 March 1898.^2,3 He married in Margate, Kent^G, on 27 December 1865, Elizabeth Robins.^4,5,6 Elizabeth was born in Margate^G about 1840⁷ and died aged 76 in Thanet^G in 1916.⁸

Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, aged 51, and born in Margate, and their unmarried daughter Annie, aged 24.⁷
     William made his will at Camberwell, Surrey, appointing his wife Elizabeth as executrix. The will was proved in London on 2 May 1898. The value of his real and personal estate was £1,415.³
     In 1901 William's widow was living at 86 Dane Road, Margate^G, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Sackett, a self-employed lodging house keeper, head of household, a widow aged 61 and born in Margate. Living with her was her unmarried daughter Annie, 34.¹²
     In 1911 she was living at York House, 86 Dane Road, Margate^G, and was recorded as Elizabeth Sackett, head of household, a widow, aged 71 and born in Margate. Living with her were her daughter Annie, 44, and a granddaughter, Marian Gordon, aged ten.¹³
