John Sackett, son of Thomas Sackett and Martha Setterfield, was born in Garlinge, KentG, in 18201 and baptized at St John in ThanetG on 20 August 1820.1 He died aged 52 in Canterbury, KentG, in 1872.2 He married in Woodnesborough, KentG, on 22 April 1838, Elizabeth Pilcher, daughter of James Pilcher and Mary W ___.3,4,5 She was born in Goodnestone, KentG, about 1817.6 She was possibly the Elizabeth Sackett who died in Thanet, KentG, in 1890.7
In 1841 John was living at Cranbourne Alley, St John, Margate, KentG, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, a carrier, aged 21 and born in Kent. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 24, and "Jane" Sackett, aged ten months, taken to refer to their son James. Also in the household was James Wanns?, 72, a greengrocer.8,9
