Wallace served in the British Army during the First World War as a Private in the Somerset Light Infantry and then in the Labour Corps. He enlisted on 2 July 1917 and was discharged due to sickness on 3 April 1919. He was awarded the Victory Medal and the British Medal in recognition of active service overseas. Nora Alice Sackett, daughter of Edward Gaskell Sackett and Alice Horsburgh, was born in Horsforth, YorkshireG, on 10 April 1880.1,2 She died aged about 74 in LeicesterG about 1954.2 She married in NottinghamG on 12 February 1906, Gordon S Horsburgh.3,4,2 Gordon was born on 3 January 18792 and died aged 58 on 22 October 1937.2
