Isabella's obituary
Died, Mrs. Isabella Sacket, at her residence in Luray, Missouri, April 18, at 8 o'clock of pneumonia. Age 82 years, 11 months and 18 days.
Mrs. Sacket has lived in Luray for 59 years, and was highly respected and loved by all who knew her under all circumstances and at all times. She was the friend of truth and justice and her death creates a vacancy in our community that will be difficult to fill.
During her illness she bore her sufferings with great patience always having a smile and a kind word for all. While her death was not unexpected it came as a shock not only to her loved ones at home but to hundreds of others in this neighborhood who knew and loved her for her sterling worth.
Mother Sacket, as she was called by friends and neighbors, was a widow of 41 years. She has lived a beautiful life, and was noted for her great deeds of kindness to all who were in trouble or distress. She was brave in the early pioneer days as well as useful, always waiting on the sick and willing to do whatever she could for the community.
By the window among ferns and flowers in her own sitting room rested her last tenement, a black casket, upon this reposed sprays and beautiful pieces of floral offerings by kindred and friends amongst these were white roses. They were no purer than the life of which she, above whom they reposed.
Isabella Frisby was born May 12, 1827 at Rome, Perry County, Indiana. She was united in marriage to Capt. Erastus Sacket, March 5, 1849, at Rome, Indiana. To this union two children were born, Sam F. Sacket of New York City and Mars [sic: Marion?]. Mary F. Roland, Luray, Missouri. In 1858 Capt. Sacket and wife moved to Missouri and purchase a home in Luray, where she has resided ever since. Her husband died April 17, 1869. Mother Sacket has gone but is not forgotten. The funeral occurred in the Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Wednesday p.m. Conducted by Rev. J. A. Wallace. The pallbearers were from the order of Free Masons. Interment by the side of her husband in the Combs Cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss two children Samuel Sacket and Mrs. Mary Roland and 8 grandchildren. These near relatives are not alone in their grief for the entire community mourns her death.

Samuel F. Sackett
The subject of this sketch was taken ill some weeks ago in New York City. His son, Guy Sackett of this city, was called and it was thought for some time that he would recover but, last week he began to rapidly fail. The end came Friday, May 29th.
Remains were brought to Marion. The funeral was from the home Monday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Wareham of Wichita, an old friend of the family, officiated. The male quartette furnished the music.
Mr. Sacket was born at Rome, Indiana, February 5, 1849. When only a boy he went with his parents to Luray, Mo., where he spent the early part of his life. He was educated in a seminary at St. Francissville, Mo., and was afterwards an instructor in the same school. He was later elected sheriff of Clark Co, Mo., and afterwards county clerk of the same county, which office he held for eight years. He left Clark Co., Mo., September 1st, 1883 for Marion, Kas., which place has been his home ever since.
He leaves a wife, four daughters, Mrs. J. T. Dickerson of Edmund, Okla., Mrs. Anna Blackburn and Mrs. Helen Miesse of Marion, Mrs. E. M. Cherington of St. Joseph, Mo., and one son, Mr. Guy Sackett of Marion, thirteen grand children and a sister, Mrs. Oscar Roland of Luray, Mo.
Interment was made in Highland Cemetery.
When Mr. Sacket came to Marion he was associated with Mr. W. W. Loveless in the general mercantile business. By his courteous, obliging, manner to his patrons and his optimistic disposition he made friends. We believe that everybody in Marion regretted to have him sever his business relations with Marion. The family have the sympathy of the entire community.

Edson Sackett.
Edson Sackett, of Blooming Valley, Pa., was born Aug. 9, 1823; died April 16, 1909. June 4, 1848, he was married to Fidelia Goodrich. To this union three children were born, all of whom survive him, namely, Dr. W. E. Sackett, of Saegertown; Lavina Fleek, of Tryonville; Agnes A. Sackett. of Blooming Valley. He united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of State road, in December, 1847, under the pastorate of Rev. John Graham. He has lived a consistent Christian life during his membership in the church, filling very acceptably the various offices of the church. For many years it was his delight to teach the Sunday school Bible. He was a great lover of God's word, and delighted in telling of God's power to save from sin. He selected First Cor., 2:9-10, as the text for his funeral sermon.
Perfect love with his Heavenly Father had taken away the sting of death, and his last message was a shout of victory at the thought of meeting his Savior face to face, whom he had loved for more than 60 years.

Laura's obituary
Chase - In this city, Thursday night Nov. 5, 1896, Laura B. Chase, aged 80 years, 7 months and 5 days.
Laura B. Sackett was born in Cattaraugus county, New York, in 1816. She was married in 1832 to M. L. Chase of that county. Shortly after marriage they settled in Ohio, where they resided several years after which they removed to Pennsylvania where they remained ten years. They then came to Minnesota, settling in Olmsted county in 1854. Some years later they settled in Faribault county. Since her husband's death she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Peter Fitch, where she has had the tenderest care possible. She was converted to christianity at the tender age of fourteen years and has been a faithful follower of Christ all through her life. She had a kind and pleasant word for everyone, and her hand was always open to those in need. She was the mother of twelve children, ten of whom survive her. She prayed at home while three sons and four son-in-laws fought the battle of their country during the dark days that overcast our country from 1861 to 1865. She was an indulgent mother and her words of christian teaching now come to us with a peculiar charm, like the safe and gentle murmur of a low fountain stealing its way along amidst the roses, or the whisper of an angel in the bright and joyous dream of sleeping innocence. The funeral occurred at 2 p.m. Saturday at the residence of Peter Fitch, Rev F. D. Newhouse officiating.

Lydia's obituary
A Long Life Ended
Died, Sunday, April 5, 1896, at the home of her son, John W. McLaren on North Coler avenue, Mrs. Lydia W. McLaren, in the 76th year of her age.
Lydia Wilson Sackett was born in Meadville, Pa., Nov. 12, 1820. She was married to John McLaren in Salem, O., July 30, 1849, and came to this state with him about 1855, and settled near Danville, since which time she has lived in Champaign and Vermilion counties. A great portion of her life was spent at Homer, where she has a large number of friends who will mourn her demise. She was the mother of six children, three of whom—John W. of Urbana, T. J. of Bloomington and Mrs. Angie Shepard of Mt. Pulaski—survive her. Mrs. McLaren has been an invalid for 8 years past, having never recovered from an injury received in a runaway accident. While her death was somewhat sudden, it was not unexpected by her relatives. Her children were all with her during her last days, and she passed peacefully away confident in the Christian’s hope. The interment took place this afternoon at Mt. Hope cemetery.
The family desires to extend thanks to the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted them during their mother’s illness and death.

Mary Sackett
Father | Rolin Sackett (early 1780s-1863) |
Mother | Pamelia (___) Chamberlin (c 1801-) |
Mary Sackett, daughter of Rolin Sackett and Pamelia (___) Chamberlin, was born in PennsylvaniaG about 1838.1 She married Robert Barr.2
In 1850 Mary was living in Mead Township, Crawford County, PennsylvaniaG, in the household of her parents Rowland and Parmilia, and was recorded in the census as Mary Sackett, aged twelve and born in Pennsylvania.3
Identification of Mary Sackett as the wife of Robert Barr is based on their being named as the parents of Arthur Barr in his marriage record of 1914.
Census records appearing to relate to the family of Robert and Mary Barr include children, Edward, c1856, Arthur, 1860, John, c1866, and William, c1869. Robert apparently died before about 1875, Mary marrying John Radle by about 1876 when a son Andrew Radle was born.
Further research is needed to resolve some inconsistencies in the records.
