Abigail Sackett Skoch, age 54, of Mentor, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012. She was born June 12, 1957. She was preceded in death by her parents, Deborah (Garver) and George Sackett; and grandparents, Cora (Hurst) and George L. Sackett Sr., and Antoinette (Carroll) and William Garver.
Abigail was a devoted wife and mother and is survived by her husband, Edwin J. Skoch; and their daughter, Coralee Skoch. She is also survived by her husband's children, whom she loved dearly, Edwin A. (Laura) and Wendy (Jeff) Hart; her grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mallorie and Zander Hart, Olivia and Lucy Skoch; and her three brothers, Tod (Connie) Sackett, Bill (Martha) Sackett and George (Rene) Sackett. Abigail was a teacher for 30 years in the Mentor Public Schools and a lifelong sailboat racer. She and her husband were longtime members at Mentor Harbor Yachting Club and were currently members of Put-in-Bay Yacht Club. Abigail spent most of her life helping build junior sailing/activity programs including at Northeast Yacht Club and Mentor Harbor Yachting Club. She and Ed designed, initiated and directed Inter-Lake Yachting Association Junior Sailing Programs. There will be a memorial service from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Edgewater Yacht Club, 6700 Memorial Shoreway NW, Cleveland, OH 44102. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
