Amelia Sackett, daughter of Deacon Clark Sackett and Laura Melissa Akins, was born in Tallmadge, OhioG, about 1825.1,2 She died on 4 March 1854.1,2 She married George Chapman.1,2
Obituary of Mrs. Amelia A. S. Chapman
Died in Tallmadge March 4th. 1854 Mrs. Amelia A., wife of Mr. George Chapman, and daughter of Dea. Clark Sackett. After a very severe illness of four days. Never was her intellect more active than during her sickness, almost to the moment of her death; and with full knowledge that she must die, she had no fear; she looked upon death and made her arrangements, with entire calmness. For her husbands and babes sake, she would have chosen to live, for Jesus sake, she was willing to die.
Her death scene forcibly impressed the words "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, yea saith the spirit; for they rest from their labors and their works do follow them". A calm, humble, consistent useful Christian life, led for nearly twelve years since her public profession, prepared for that peaceful death.
Affliction was not wanting. In addition to such sickness in her family just two weeks before her own death, God took to himself her child of one year and seven months of age. She showed that it was good for her to be afflicted. The Church, community, her relatives above all her family, have lost much by her removal; but we all feel, she has gained her crown.

Clark A. Sackett, a leading citizen of Tallmadge Township, residing on his farm of 136 acres, was born on this farm in Summit County, Ohio, May 15, 1837, and is a son of Clark and Laura (Aiken) Sackett.
The Sackett family is an old colonial one of New England. Benjamin Sackett, the grandfather of Clark A., died in Connecticut. His children were as follows: Simeon, who lived and died at Canfield, Mahoning County, Ohio; Myron, who died in Connecticut; Salmon, who died in Summit County; Moses and Benjamin, who lived in Connecticut; Clark and Aaron.
...
Clark A. Sackett attended the local schools and subsequently taught three terms, after which he engaged in farming and in operating a threshing machine. He owns a valuable farm of 136 acres on which he carries on a general line of agriculture, meeting with the success which has placed him among the substantial men of his section. Politically, he is a Republican and has always been a loyal suporter of the Government. During the Civil War he served through an enlistment in Company D, 164th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, which was mustered at Cleveland. The services of this company were utilized around the city of Washington and when they were no longer needed, the regiment was honorably discharged at Cleveland.
Clark A. Sackett was married (first) to Kate Ashmun, who was a daughter of M. Ashmun. He was married (second) to Lottie Austin, who was born at Newton Falls, Ohio, and is a daughter of Enos and Sarah (Sackett) Austin. The father of Mrs. Sackett was born in 1809, at Warren, Ohio, and died at Youngstown, in 1886. The mother of Mrs. Sackett was born in 1820, at Canfield, Mahoning County, Ohio, was married in 1840, and died at Youngstown, in 1883. Enos Austin and wife had three children, two daughters and one son, the latter of whom died in infancy. The daughters are: Phidelia, who married Frank Stiles, a resident of Youngstown, and Mrs. Sackett. The maternal grandparents of Mrs. Sackett were Myron and Orpha (Dean) Sackett, the former of whom was born at Warren, Connecticut, and the latter at Cornwall, Connecticut. This branch of the Sackett family can be traced to Simon and Isabella Sackett, members of the Pilgrim colony.
Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Clark A. Sackett taught for a number of years, first in the public schools of Youngstown and later in the Blind Asylum, at Columbus. She is an accomplished lady. Both she and her sister were teachers, the latter for a period of twenty-five years. Both Mr. and Mrs. Sackett belong to the Congregational Church at Tallmadge, in which Mrs. Sackett is the organist. Mr. Sackett has served in a number of public positions, and has been both supervisor and trustee of Tallmadge Township.

The funeral of the late Lysander Augustus Sackett was held on Sunday morning, Dec. 20, from the home of his daughter, Mrs. M.A. Johnson near Centralia.
Mr. Sackett died Saturday morning. He was born March 6, 1820, at Cornwall, Conn. He moved to Ohio when a young man, where he taught school in Nelson Academy. One step further west was made in a journey to Illinois, where he joined a party of men bound for California. This journey he made across the plains in 1849. In 1856 he returned by steamer and married Harriett E. Colton, whom he has survived 9 years and a month.
After their marriage they made their home in California until 1867, when they moved to a farm near Garnavillo, Iowa. Here they lived 17 years, when again he turned his face toward what has proved truth to him "The land of the setting sun." His last illness was short and the end came in perfect peace. His life from a very early period has been that of a consistent earnest Christian, at all times taking an active part in the church of his residence. His last days were spent in the home of Mrs. M.A. Johnson, of this city, who is the eldest of his three surviving children. The other two daughters, Mrs. H.S. Calhoun and Mrs. J.P. Newell, both of Portland, Ore., accompanied the remains to that city, where they were interred in the family lot in Lone Fir Cemetery.

IN MEMORIAM:
The little hamlet of Ramford has met with an irreparable loss in the death of Mrs. Malinda (Sackett) Ford, the faithful and devoted wife of Simeon D. Ford, who entered into rest Sabbath morning, January 23d, aged 53. A personal and intimate acquaintance with the deceased as a friend, a neighbor and scholar in the Sabbath School for nearly thirty-six years, enables me to form some true estimate of her worth. A more completely developed Christian character we have rarely seen. If there was one trait more prominent in her character than others, it was fidelity. Fidelity to God and man. Fidelity as a wife, a mother, a Christian, a neighbor and friend. Modest and reticent in her manners, yet she was found cooperating in every good work. At home, in the prayer meeting, in the circles of the neighborhood, in the house of sickness, of joy, or of sorrow, she well filled her place. Our deepest sympathies are with the bereaved family, while the whole community mourn her loss.
