Smith T Sackett, son of Isaac H Sackett and Anna Harding, was born in Dutchess County, New York State^G, about 1857.¹ He died before 1917.² He married first Kate ___.¹ Kate was born in New York State^G about 1859.¹ He married second about 1895, Mary Jane Winters, daughter of Robert Winters and Ellen Lee.¹ Mary was born in New York State^G in October 1861.^1,3,4
     In 1865 Smith was living in Stanford, Dutchess County^G, in the household of his parents Isaac and Ann, and was recorded in the census as Smith P Sackett, aged nine and born in Dutchess County.⁵
     In 1870 he was living in Washington, Dutchess County^G, in the household of Artemus Sackett, 70, a farmer, and his wife Laura, and was recorded as Smith Sackett, aged 13 and born in New York.⁶
     In 1875 he was living in Washington, Dutchess County, New York State^G, in the household of George Payne, a farmer, and was recorded as Smith Sackett, a farm laborer, aged 19.⁷
     In 1880 he was living at Washington, Dutchess County^G, in the household of his uncle Artemus Sackett, 70, a farmer, and his wife Laura, and was recorded as Smith T Sackett, a laborer, aged 23. His wife Kate, 21, was living with him.⁸
     In 1900 he was living in Stanford, Dutchess County, New York State^G, and was recorded as Smith Sackett, a farm laborer, head of household, aged 36 and born in New York State. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Mary, 38, and their children, William, 4, Henry, 1, and Benjamin, aged five months.⁹
     In 1910 he was living in Stanford^G and was recorded as Smith T Sackett, a laborer on a dairy farm, head of household, aged 50. Living with him were his wife Mary, 49, and their children, William, 14, Henry, 12, and Benjamin, aged ten.¹⁰
     In 1920 Smith's widow Mary was living at Hibernia Road, Washington, Dutchess County^G, and was recorded in the census as Mary J Sackett, head of household, a widow, aged 59 and born in New York. Living with her were her unmarried sons, Harry, 21, and Benjamin, aged 20.¹¹

William Smith Sackett, son of Smith T Sackett and Mary Jane Winters, was born in New York State^G on 31 May 1896.^1,2
     In 1900 William was living in Stanford, Dutchess County, New York State^G, in the household of his parents Smith and Mary, and was recorded in the census as William S Sackett, aged four and born in New York State.³
     In 1910 he was living in Stanford^G in the household of his parents Smith and Mary, and was recorded as William Sackett, aged 14 and born in New York State.⁴
     William completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was aged 21 and was living at Millbrook, Dutchess County, New York State^G. He was employed as a farm hand.⁵

Harry Henry Sackett, son of Smith T Sackett and Mary Jane Winters, was born in New York State^G on 13 June 1898.^1,2 He died there aged 69 in April 1968.³
     In 1900 Harry was living in Stanford, Dutchess County, New York State^G, in the household of his parents Smith and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Henry H Sackett, aged one and born in New York State.⁴
     In 1910 he was living in Stanford^G in the household of his parents Smith and Mary, and was recorded as Henry H Sackett, aged 12 and born in New York State.⁵
     Harry completed a World War I draft registration card on 12 September 1918. He was aged 20 and was living at Clinton Corners, Clinton, Dutchess County, New York State^G. He was employed as a farm laborer.⁶
     In 1920 he was living at Hibernia Road, Washington, Dutchess County^G, in the household of his widowed mother Mary, and was recorded as Harry H Sackett, aged 21 and born in New York State.⁷

Benjamin Robert Sackett, son of Benjamin Joseph Sackett and Ruth Millie Spencer, was born in Dutchess County, New York State^G, on 5 April 1924.^1,2 He died aged 64 in Texas^G on 3 April 1989³ and was buried at Woodstock Cemetery, Ulster County, New York State^G.⁴
     In 1930 Benjamin was living at Shunpike Road, Washington, Dutchess County, New York State^G, in the household of his parents Benjamin and Ruth, and was recorded in the census as Benjamin R Sackett, aged five and born in New York.⁵

Edna Mae Sackett, daughter of Benjamin Joseph Sackett and Ruth Millie Spencer, was born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York State^G, on 20 January 1926.¹ She died aged 88 in Newburgh, Orange County, New York State^G, on 5 August 2014.² She married James Franklin Swartz.
     In 1930 Edna was living at Shunpike Road, Washington, Dutchess County, New York State^G, in the household of her parents Benjamin and Ruth, and was recorded in the census as Edna M Sackett, aged four and born in New York.³

Charles Henry "Chuck" Sackett, master carpenter, son of Benjamin Joseph Sackett and Ruth Millie Spencer, was born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York State^G, on 28 August 1928.¹ He died aged 91 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie^G, on 25 July 2020² and was buried at Union Cemetery, Hyde Park, Dutchess County^G.⁴ He married first in Stanford, Dutchess County^G, on 24 July 1948, Agnes R Donnelly, daughter of Charles Lee Donnelly and Marguerite Collins.³ Agnes was born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York State^G, on 1 May 1928.⁵ She died aged 32 in Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut^G, on 2 December 1960⁶ and was buried at St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Millbrook, Dutchess County, New York State^G.⁴ He married second Bernice ___.²
     In 1930 Charles was living at Shunpike Road, Washington, Dutchess County, New York State^G, in the household of his parents Benjamin and Ruth, and was recorded in the census as Charles H Sackett, aged one and born in New York.⁷
     Charles completed a World War II draft registration card on 28 August 1946. He was aged 18 and was employed by Victor J McQuade. He was living in Millbrook, Dutchess County, New York State^G.⁸

Charles' obituary Agnes' obituary

Elizabeth "Betsey" Sackett was born in Massachusetts^G on 21 February 1793.^1,2 She died aged 75 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania^G, on 26 July 1868 and was buried at Greendale Cemetery, Meadville^G.⁴ Her parents have not been positively identified, but see below. She married on 19 June 1817, John Ellis, son of John Ellis.³ John Ellis Jr was born in Massachusetts^G on 30 January 1796.^1,2 He died aged 75 in Pennsylvania^G on 3 November 1871 and was buried at Greendale Cemetery, Meadville^G.⁴
     In 1850 Elizabeth was living in Meadville^G in the household of her husband John, 53, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Ellis, aged 56 and born in Massachusetts. Living with them were their children, Shephard, 28, David, 22, and Wilson, 19, and Shephard's wife Frances, 23.⁵
     In 1860 she was living in Meadville^G in the household of her husband John, 63, a farmer, and was recorded as Elisabeth Ellis, aged 66. Living with them were their son David, 29, and his wife Lucy, 22. A John Sacket, 16, also in the household, would appear to have been enumerated twice, also appearing in the household of his parents Rolin and Pamelia Sackett.⁶
Betsey's parents
     Betsey, listed as Elizabeth Ellis, was living in Meadville in 1850 and 1860 with her husband John. Sacketts also living in Meadville included Zavan Sacket Sr and his sons, Rolin, James, and Jabez, each with their families. These were all born in Massachusetts and had moved to Meadville by about 1820. John Ellis Jr was also in Meadville by 1820, as was his father John Ellis Sr. John Ellis Jr's 1820 household comprised one male 16-25, one female 16-25, one male under 10, and one female under ten. These would have been John and Betsey, their daughter Mary, and a son of whom we have no record.
     This circumstantial evidence suggests that Betsey may have been a daughter of Zavan Sacket, removing from Massachusetts to Meadville, Pennsylvania, with her father and/or one or more of her brothers sometime before 1820. (John and Betsey married in 1817, location not known, and had a daughter, Mary, in Meadville, in 1818).
     The 1860 census suggests a further link between the Ellis household and the household of Rolin Sacket. A John Sacket, aged 16, appears in both households. These entries would appear to refer to the same John F Sackett, enumerated twice. He would have been Rolin's son, and by the above hypothesis, Betsey's nephew.
     It may be further conjectured that Betsey was the same as either Emily Sacket or Ann Sacket, stated by Weygant to have been daughters of Zavan, but for whom no other records have been found.

Mary Marie Ellis, daughter of John Ellis and Elizabeth "Betsey" Sackett, was born in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania^G, on 8 May 1818.¹ She died aged 70 on 19 August 1888.¹

Harlow Wood Ellis, son of John Ellis and Elizabeth "Betsey" Sackett, was born in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania^G, on 27 May 1821.¹ He died aged 83 in Stoneboro, Mercer County, Pennsylvania^G, on 27 August 1904.¹

Sheppard Edward Ellis, son of John Ellis and Elizabeth "Betsey" Sackett, was born in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania^G, on 16 November 1823.¹ He died there aged 66 on 23 December 1889.¹ He married in Chester, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, on 26 November 1849, Frances Adelia Fry.² Frances was born in Huntington, Hampshire County, Massachusetts^G, on 10 May 1826.² She died aged 47 in Meadville^G on 17 November 1873.²
     In 1850 Sheppard was living in Meadville^G in the household of his parents John and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Shephard Ellis, a farmer, aged 28 and born in Pennsylvania. His wife Frances, 23, was living with him.³

Delilah Ellis, daughter of John Ellis and Elizabeth "Betsey" Sackett, was born in Pennsylvania^G on 10 May 1826.¹ She died aged 44 on 25 December 1870.¹

David Stiles Ellis, son of John Ellis and Elizabeth "Betsey" Sackett, was born in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania^G, on 28 January 1828.^1,2 He died aged 79 in West Mead Township, Crawford County^G, on 17 April 1907.³
     In 1850 David was living in Meadville^G in the household of his parents John and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as David Ellis, a farmer, aged 22 and born in Pennsylvania.⁴

John Wilson Ellis, son of John Ellis and Elizabeth "Betsey" Sackett, was born in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania^G, on 3 June 1832.¹ He died there aged 68 on 8 January 1901.¹
     In 1850 John was living in Meadville^G in the household of his parents John and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Wilson Ellis, a farmer, aged 19 and born in Pennsylvania.²
