Julia Irana Sackett, daughter of Erastus Tanner Sackett and Lucretia Lurania Lyons, was born in Ruggles Township, Ashland County, Ohio^G, on 30 March 1864.^2,3 She died aged 52 in Ruggles Township^G on 23 March 1917⁴ and was buried there on 25 March 1917.⁴ She married in 1886, Robert Potter.²
     In 1880 Julia was living in Clinton, Huron County^G, in the household of her cousin Elmer Sackett, and was recorded in the census as Julia I Sackett, at school, aged 16 and born in Ohio.⁵

Betsey M Sackett, daughter of Mark Sackett and Sarah "Sally" Heald, was born in Ohio^G about 1840.¹
     In 1850 Betsey was living in Dorset, Ashtabula County^G, in the household of her parents Mark and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Betsey M Sackett, aged ten and born in Ohio.²

David R Sackett, son of Mark Sackett and Sarah "Sally" Heald, was born in Ohio^G in 1837.^1,2 He died aged about 60 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio^G, on 18 February 1897 and was buried at Monroe Street Cemetery, Cleveland^G.^7,8,9,10,11 He married first about 1863, Mary ___.¹ Mary was born in New York State^G about 1841.¹ She died aged about 29 in Ohio^G on 24 July 1870 and was buried at the City Cemetery, Conneaut, Ashtabula County, Ohio^G.⁷ He married second in Ashtabula County^G on 22 November 1870, Ophelia Humphrey, daughter of Marcus W Humphrey and Artemesia Evans.³ Ophelia was born in Vermont^G about 1851.¹ They divorced about 1881. Ophelia later married Frank L Ruby in about 1886. David married third in Summit County, Ohio^G, on 20 May 1882, Juliet "Ettie" Blakeslee, daughter of Robert Bruce Blakeslee and Delilah D Ault.^4,5,6 Juliet was born in Weymouth, Medina County, Ohio^G, on 8 March 1863.⁷ She died aged 89 in Cleveland^G on 6 January 1953 and was buried at Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland^G.⁷

     David served the Union in the American Civil War, enlisting in Company K, 83rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry at Geneva, Ashtabula County^G, on 4 September 1861. He was discharged at camp in Porters, Virginia, on 30 December 1861 with a disability.^13,14,15,16
     In 1870 he was living in Conneaut, Ashtabula County^G, and was recorded as David Sackett, a wagon maker, aged 30. Living with him were his wife Mary, 29, and their children, Allie, 6, and Anna, aged three.¹⁷
     In 1880 he was living in Geneva^G and was recorded as David Sackett, a sewing machine agent, aged 40. Living with him were his second wife Ophy, 29, their children, Sherman, 9, Willie, 6, Charlie, 4, and Artima, aged one, and David's children by his first marriage, Allace, 16, and Anna, 13.¹⁸
     David's widow Juliet "Etta" filed for a Civil War soldier widow's pension on 11 March 1899.¹⁶

Etta's obituary

Horace Sackett, son of Mark Sackett and Polly Herrick, was born in Chester, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, in July 1820.¹ He died in Bradford County, Pennsylvania^G, on 25 April 1864 and was buried at William Bidlack Family Cemetery, Litchfield, Bradford County^G.^1,3,4,5 He married about 1849, Elvira Cotton.² Elvira was born in New York State^G about 1830.⁶
     In 1860 Horace was living in Kingsville, Ashtabula County, Ohio^G, and was recorded in the census as Horace Sackett, a teamster, aged 34 and born in Ohio. Living with him were his wife Elvira, 30, and their children, Ruth, 10, Sarah, 9, William, 7, and John, 5. They were living in the household of Horace's brother-in-law James Woodworth.⁷
     Horace served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He enlisted at Waterford, Erie County, Pennsylvania^G, on 29 December 1863. He died in service at Litchfield, Bradford County, while on leave of absence.¹

Jael Sackett, daughter of Mark Sackett and Sarah "Sally" Heald, was born in Ohio^G on 2 March 1838.¹ She died aged 71 in Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin^G, on 9 September 1909¹ and was buried at Walnut Hill Cemetery (Baraboo Cemetery)^G.¹ She married first in Dorset, Ashtabula County, Ohio^G, on 18 December 1853, Rev George W Seager.¹ George was born in Phelps, Ontario County, New York State^G, on 18 December 1833¹ and died aged 31 in Jeffersonville, Jefferson County, Indiana^G, on 12 April 1865.¹ She married second about 1866, William Soules.²

     In 1880 she was living in Baraboo, Wisconsin^G, in the household of her second husband William Soules, 57, a carpenter, and was recorded as Jael Soules, a dressmaker, aged 40. Living with them were their children, Wilmott, 14, Emma, 11, and Carrie, 8, and Jael's children from her first marriage, Lydia, 22, and George, 18.⁴

Joseph Sheppard Sackett, son of Mark Sackett and Sarah "Sally" Heald, was born in Ohio^G in October 1844.¹ He died aged 80 in St Matthews, Jefferson County, Kentucky^G, on 10 March 1925² and was buried at Washington Cemetery, Washington Court House, Fayette County, Ohio^G.^5,6 He married first Abigail Fuller.³ Abigail was born in New York State^G about 1842.¹ She died before 1880 when Joseph was listed as a widower.¹ He married second about 1882, Ida Hill. Ida was born in 1859.⁷ She died aged about 35 in 1894 and was buried at Washington Cemetery^G.⁸ He married third in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana^G, on 5 November 1900, Harriet Abbett, daughter of Rev Oliver Hazard Perry Abbett and Emeline Staten.⁴ Harriet was born in Bartholomew County, Indiana^G, on 8 January 1858.^1,7,8,9 She died aged 86 in Los Angeles, California^G, on 1 November 1944 and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Los Angeles County^G.^8,10
     In 1850 Joseph was living in Dorset, Ashtabula County^G, in the household of his parents Mark and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Joseph Sackett, aged four and born in Ohio.¹¹
     In 1860 he was living in Kingsville, Ashtabula County, Ohio^G, in the household of Whitney Parker, a drover, and was recorded as Joseph Sackett, aged 15.¹²
     Joseph served the Union during the American Civil War, enlisting first in Company D, 67th Ohio Infantry, on 24 December 1861 and being discharged on 8 May 1862. He re-enlisted in Company A, 46th Pennsylvania Infantry, at Waterford, Erie County, Pennsylvania^G, on 14 July 1863.^6,13,14,15
     In 1870 he was living in Venango, Erie County, Pennsylvania^G, and was recorded as J S Sackett, a farmer, aged 26. Living with him were his wife Abigail, 28, and their daughter Rosa, aged three. Three older children, Frances, 12, Josephine, 10, and Edwin, 7, although named Sackett in the census, were probably Abigail's children from a previous marriage. Further records for these children in the Sackett name have not been found.¹⁶
     In 1880 he was living in a hotel at 79 Margaret Street, Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York State^G, and was recorded as J S Sacket, a sewing machine agent, a widower, aged 34. Also resident in the hotel were his daughter Rosa, 14, and a Miss Hill, 19, who would presumably be Ida Hill, his second wife.¹⁷
     In 1900 he was living at 818 Madison Avenue, Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky^G, and was recorded as Joseph S Sackett, a life insurance agent, aged 55, a widower. His son Leroy, 16, was living with him.¹⁸
     In 1910 he was living at Second Street, Williamsburg, Clermont County, Ohio^G, and was recorded as Joseph S Sackett, a laborer, aged 65. Living with him were his wife Harriett, 41, and his widowed daughter Rose from his first marriage.¹⁹
     In 1920 he was living at Church Street, Anderson, Hamilton County, Ohio^G, and was recorded as Joseph Sackett, aged 75, superintendent of a fish hatchery. His wife Harriett, 59, was living with him.²⁰

Mark Sackett, son of Mark Sackett and Sarah "Sally" Heald, was born in Ohio^G on 19 July 1842.¹ He died aged 74 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio^G, on 27 April 1917 and was buried at Monroe Street Cemetery, Cleveland^G.^4,5 He married first in Jefferson, Ashtabula County, Ohio^G, on 10 April 1865, Jennie Remington.² Jennie was born in Vermont^G about 1846¹ and died aged 39 in Geneva, Ashtabula County^G, on 19 November 1885.⁶ He married second in Cuyahoga County^G on 13 June 1888, Mamie Rogers.³ Mamie was born in Ohio^G in November 1867.⁷
     In 1850 Mark was living in Dorset, Ashtabula County^G, in the household of his parents Mark and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Mark Sackett, aged eight and born in Ohio.⁸
     Mark served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He enlisted on 14 April 1861, was discharged on 21 July 1861, credited with 3 months 8 days service, re-enlisted on 26 August 1861 in the 83rd Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, serving for 2 years 4 months until discharged on 26 October 1863. He fought in 14 battles and sustained gunshot wounds to his right leg and arm.⁹
     Mark was listed in the 1890 veterans' census. He was then living at 85 Rhodes Avenue, Cleveland^G.⁹
     In 1900 he was living in Cleveland^G and was recorded as Mark Sackett, a machine agent, head of household, aged 56. He rented his home. Living with him were his second wife, Mamie, 32, his children, James, 18, and Mary, 17, by his first marriage, and Mark and Mamie's children, Shirley, 10, and Clara Emma, aged eight.¹⁰
     In 1910 he was living at Train Avenue, Cleveland^G, and was recorded as Mark Sackett, head of household, aged 67. Living with him were his second wife Mamie, 42, his unmarried daughter, Mary, 26, by his first marriage, and Mark and Mamie's daughters, Shirley, 20, and Emma, aged 18.¹¹
     Mamie was listed as Mark's widow in the 1917 Cleveland City Directory, living at 2901 Riverside Avenue, Cleveland^G. She moved to Auburn Avenue by 1921 and to Horton Road in 1922.¹²

Martha Sackett, daughter of Mark Sackett and Polly Herrick, was born in Massachusetts^G in 1818.^1,2,3 She died aged 36 in Ashtabula County, Ohio^G, on 12 September 1854^1,2 and was buried at East Lake Cemetery, North Kingsville, Ashtabula County^G.⁴ She married in 1840, James Woodworth, son of Philander Woodworth and Roxalena Woodruff.^1,2 James was born in New York State^G in 1816.^3,4 After Martha's death, James married second Mary A ___ about 1856. He died aged about 84 in Geneva, Ashtabula County^G, on 9 August 1900.⁴
     In 1850 Martha was living in Kingsville, Ashtabula County^G, in the household of her husband James, 33, a laborer, and was recorded in the census as Martha Woodworth, aged 32. Living with them were their children, Mary, 8, Lydia Ann, 6, James, 4, and Martha C[ornelia], aged two.⁵

Mariam Sackett, daughter of Mark Sackett and Sarah "Sally" Heald, was born in Ohio^G on 22 March 1833.^1,2,3 She died aged 52 on 29 March 1885 and was buried at Phillipsville Union Cemetery, Erie County, Pennsylvania^G.⁵ She married about 1849, Casper R Titus.⁴ Casper was born in Pennsylvania^G on 8 December 1830.^1,6 He died aged 70 on 12 December 1900 and was buried at Phillipsville Union Cemetery^G.⁷
     In 1850 Mariam was living in Venango, Erie County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of her husband Casper, 19, a laborer, and was recorded in the census as Mariam Titus, aged 17 and born in Ohio. Living with them was their daughter Sarah, aged six months.⁸
     In 1860 she was living in Amity, Erie County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of her husband C R Titus, 29, a farmer, and was recorded as Mariam Titus, aged 25. Living with them were their children, Sarah, 10, Miranda, 8, Emily, 6, Cornelia, 4, and Wilson, aged one.⁹
