Ruth Elizabeth Sackett, daughter of Horace Sackett and Elvira Cotton, was born in Kingsville, Ashtabula County, OhioG, on 28 September 1849.1 She died aged 83 in Sayre, Bradford County, PennsylvaniaG, on 11 March 19332 and was buried at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Bradford CountyG.4 She married about 1873, Benjamin Franklin Horton, son of Joseph Horton and Ann Stephson.3 Benjamin was born in Ghent, Bradford CountyG, on 20 May 1842.4,1 He died aged 84 in East Smithfield, Bradford CountyG, on 1 November 1926 and was buried at Tioga Point Cemetery, AthensG.4,5
     In 1860 Ruth was living in Kingsville, Ashtabula County, OhioG, in the household of her parents Horace and Elvira, and was recorded in the census as Ruth R Sackett, aged ten and born in Ohio.6
     In 1880 she was living in Sheshequin, Bradford County, PennsylvaniaG, in the household of her husband Benjamin, 37, a farmer, and was recorded as Ruth E Horton, aged 30. Living with them were their children, Oliver, 6, and Horace, 2, and Benjamin's son Orrin, 12, by his first marriage.7
     In 1900 she was living at Mill Street, Sayre, Bradford CountyG, in the household of her son Horace and daughter-in-law Rosella, and was recorded as Ruth Horton, aged 50.8
     In 1920 she was living in SheshequinG and was recorded as Ruth Horton, aged 70. She was living with her husband Benjamin, 77, in the household of their son Horace and daughter-in-law Rosella.9
     In 1930 she was living at 214 Olive Street, Sayre, Bradford CountyG, in the household of her widowed son Oliver, 56, and was recorded as Ruth Horton, a widow, aged 80.10

Mrs. Ruth Horton
     Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Horton died at the home of her son, Oliver Horton of 409 South Keystone Avenue, Sayre, at 5:30 p. m., Saturday, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Horton was the widow of Benjamin F. Horton, who died several years ago.
     She was born in Kingville, 0., Sept. 28, 1849. Coming to Pennsylvania, she had been a resident of Sayre since 1887. She was a charter member of the Church of Christ.
     Surviving her are two sons, Oliver Horton of Sayre and Horace Horton of Sheshequin; a step-son, Orin Horton of East Smithfield; two grandsons, and granddaughter.
     Funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ, Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. Rev. F. H. Randall, officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point cemetery.
