Nathaniel Sackett, son of Colonel Richard Sackett and Rachel Holmes, was born on 9 April 1770.¹ He died aged 47 in Tioga, Tioga County, New York State^G, on 5 November 1817^1,2 and was buried at Woodbridge Cemetery, Catatonk, Tioga County^G.³ He married on 24 January 1796, Sarah Warren, daughter of Sampson Warren and Huldah Lord.¹ Sarah was born in Littleton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts^G, on 5 July 1777.⁴ She died aged 84 on 23 October 1862 and was buried at Woodbridge Cemetery, Catatonk^G.⁴

     Caleb was listed in the census in 1830 and 1840 as a householder in Amity, Allegany County, New York State^G.^7,8
     In 1850 Caleb's widow Jane was living in Amity, Allegany County, New York State^G, in the household of her daughter Hannah and son-in-law Anson Hall, and was recorded in the census as Jane Sacket, aged 73 and born in New York State.⁹

Joseph Sackett, son of Nathaniel Sackett and Bethiah Reynolds, was born about 1798¹ and died aged 53 in December 1851.² He married Anna Augusta Downing, daughter of George Downing.¹ Anna was born about 1813³ and baptized as an adult at All Saints Church, New York City^G, on 25 September 1842.⁴ She was confirmed at All Saints Church^G on 2 April 1843 and removed from the church in May 1845. Her address at that date was 30 Rutgers Street.^5,6 She died at Brick Church, New Jersey, on 13 December 1886.⁷
     Joseph was for many years engaged with his brother James in the wholesale carpet trade in New York City.¹

James Horton Sackett, son of Nathaniel Sackett and Bethiah Reynolds, was born about 1799.^1,2 He died aged 47 in Woodbridge, New Jersey^G, on 11 April 1846.³ He married at St George's Chapel, New York City^G, on 15 July 1830, Jerusha Post, daughter of William Post and Catherine Van Buren.^2,4 After James's death Jerusha married second in New York City^G on 29 September 1855 Seaborn Goodall of Savannah, Georgia.^5,6
     James was named in his father's will made in Bedford, New York State^G, on 13 March 1812.⁷
     In 1850 James's widow Jerusha was living in Brooklyn, New York City, New York State^G, and was recorded in the census as Jerusha Sacket, aged 26 and born in New York (this age was clearly wrong but the household context suggests that this must have been James's widow). Living with her were her children, William, 18, Jerusha, 12, James, 11, Frances, 10, and Sarah, aged six.⁸

Hannah Sackett, daughter of Nathaniel Sackett and Bethiah Reynolds, was born in 1794.¹ She died aged 20 in Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut^G, on 24 June 1814 and was buried at North Street Cemetery, Stamford^G.^2,3

William Henry Sackett, son of Nathaniel Sackett and Bethiah Reynolds, was born in Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut^G, about 1800.^1,2,3 He died aged 72 in Brooklyn, New York City^G, on 23 October 1872 and was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn^G.^6,7 He married in New York City^G on 2 April 1822, Elethea A Higgins.^1,4,5 Elethea was born in New York State^G in 1805.⁷ She died in Brooklyn^G on 26 September 1856⁸ and was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn^G.^7,9
     William was named in his father's will made in Bedford, New York State^G, on 13 March 1812.¹⁰
     In 1850 William was living in New York City^G and was recorded in the census as William H Sackett, aged 50 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Elethea, 45, and their children, William, 25, James, 21, Eliza, 19, and Maria, 13.¹¹
Research note
The Sacketts of America records William's death date as 28 February 1846 and his place of burial as Huntington, New York. However, he and Elethea are listed in the 1850 census. Their death and burial records, Elethea in 1856 and William in 1872, state that both were buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn. William's death record gives his birthplace as Greenwich, Connecticut (although the 1850 census gives it as New York). His relationship as a son of Nathaniel Sackett is not confirmed but a birthplace of Greenwich would fit with Nathaniel's general whereabouts at that time.
     A William H Sackett was listed in the 1840 census in Huntington and was buried there on 28 February 1846. Although clearly not the William who married Elethea, he has not been further identified.
