William Edgar Sackett, son of William Henry Sackett and Elethea A Higgins, was born on 5 April 1823.1 He died aged 73 on 7 October 1896.1 He married on 3 March 1847, Josephine Findlay.1
     In 1850 William was living in New York CityG in the household of his parents William and Elethea, and was recorded in the census as William E Sackett, a clerk, aged 25 and born in New York (a record for his wife Josephine in 1850 has not been found).2
