Patience Sackett
Father | Jeffery Sackett (1617-1695) |
Mother | Sarah Swaine (c 1618-before 1669) |
Patience Sackett, daughter of Jeffery Sackett and Sarah Swaine, was born probably in Sandwich, KentG, about 1655.1 She died there aged 21 on 22 September 16762 and was buried at St Mary's Church, SandwichG, where, set into the floor, is a stone inscribed,
Here Lyeth Buried the Body of Patience Sacket Daughter of Cap Jeffrey Sacket one of the Jurats of this Towne Died the 22d of September 1676 Aged 21.2

- Date of birth based on age at death. A calculation of their dates of birth from their ages at death suggests that Patience and her sister Sarah were twins. However, the witness statement of April 1683 when Sarah gave evidence in the court action Sackett v. Haite gives her age as 26, suggesting she was a year or two younger than Patience.
- Monumental inscription on the grave of Patience Sacket (St Mary's Church, Sandwich, Kent), "Here Lyeth/ Buried the Body of/ Patience Sacket/ Daughter of Cap/ Jeffrey Sacket/ one of the Jurats/ of this Towne/ Died the 22d of/ September 1676/ Aged 21."

Sackett, John T.
at the age of 91 passed away Sunday morning, March 11, 2012. He was born September 23, 1920 in Dunkirk, NY to Herbert L. and Wilhelmina R. Sackett. His parents, brother Herbert W. Sackett, and sister Catherine Sackett pre-deceased him. He grew up in Olean, NY and graduated from Olean High School where he was voted most popular senior. He was a star basketball player at Olean, and also at Grove City College, in Pennsylvania. He later received his Masters Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the Army Air Corp and landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy on D-Day. He was responsible for setting up the weather mapping that was crucial to the success of the invasion. He was injured in a bomb attack by the Germans in St. Lo, France and received the Purple Heart. After the war, he married his college sweetheart, Jean Carol Johnston, and began teaching and coaching basketball at Meadville High School, Pennsylvania. On February 28th they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. In 1959, John and family moved to St. Petersburg where he taught at Northeast High School, then in the Accounting Department of the St. Petersburg Junior College, until his retirement. Many of his students remembered his passion for teaching long after they graduated. John was an avid golfer and treasured the many long-term friendships he made at Pasadena Country Club, and was Senior Men's Champion in 1982. His most thrilling golf accomplishment was scoring not one, but two, holes in one. He also enjoyed bowling, traveling, entertaining friends and fishing, and once bested a 152 pound tarpon. He also loved cheering for the Rays and Seminoles and riding in his red sports car with his dog, Oliver. A bit of a Renaissance man, John cherished his family and enjoyed exposing them to diverse activities, from symphony music to stock car racing. He is survived by his wife, Jean, daughters Kathy Whittemore (Kent), and Nancy Sackett (Doug Meridith), his son, John Sackett (Luz), and grandchildren, Ryan Whittemore, Erin Lohmiller (Clarke), Shane Sackett and Danielle Sackett. Memorial Service at a later time.
