James C. Sackett
     Conneaut — James C. "Bud" Sackett, age 75, of Conneaut, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 11, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, Pa.
     Bud was born in Coalport, Pa., on April 15, 1935, the son of William H. and Althea (Kline) Sackett. He was a 1953 graduate of Becaria-Coalport-Irvona High School.
     He moved to Conneaut with his family and began working at the Nickel Plate Railroad with the "paint gang". Bud went on to paint professionally with the Ed Masick and Milen Garrison Company. He worked for a short time at the P & C Dock Company and later became a salesman with Ohio Products and retired from R. L. Lipton in 1995, following 37 years of service with the company.
     Bud was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Conneaut, where he served as a former church council member. Bud loved to be at the church, where he was always tinkering and fixing things that needed to be done.
     He also enjoyed fixing things around the house and with his cars as well. Bud enjoyed golfing and bowling. Bud especially loved spending time with his wife, Nancy.
     Bud was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Margaret (Peggy) Frisco.
     He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Antila) Sackett, whom he married April 28, 1956; a daughter, Vicki Jackson of Conneaut; three sons, James "Jim" (Dottie) Sackett, Donny (Leslie) Sackett and Shawn Sackett, all of Conneaut; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Brandon) Novosad and Melissa Sackett, both of Columbus, Ohio, Rebecca (Matt) Reed of Fayetteville, N.C., Brittany Jackson of Twinsburg, Ohio, Tricia (Brian) Timbers and Melissa (Bob) Steinberg, both of Glenside, Pa. and Jacob Sackett and Jada Sackett, both of Conneaut; and four great-grandchildren.
     Calling Hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, Saturday, Jan. 15th, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 876 Grove St. and Lake Road, Conneaut.
     Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, following Calling Hours, Saturday, at the Church, with Fr. Franklin Gore officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Route 20, Conneaut, Ohio.

Nancy M. Sackett, age 88 of Conneaut, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.
     Nancy was born in Conneaut on March 23, 1937, the daughter of Toivo and Toini W. Herpy Antila. She was a 1955 graduate of Conneaut High School. She married James C. "Bud" Sackett on April 28, 1956.
     A lifelong resident of Conneaut, Nancy held various jobs during her lifetime. She loved numbers and had several jobs in the banking field. She retired from Conneaut Saving and Loan as the Treasurer.
     Nancy enjoyed reading and felt that she got more out of a book that she held in her hands and could turn the pages. She also loved to keep her mind active by doing crossword puzzles and playing solitaire.
     She was a longtime member of Good Sheperd Lutheran Church and attended regularly until covid and remained at home to stay safe due to health reasons.
     Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack "Rabbit" Antila, and the love of her life James C. "Bud" Sackett.
     She is survived by her children, James "Jim" and Dottie Sackett, Victoria Jackson, Donald and Leslie Sackett, Shawn Sackett, all of Conneaut, eight grandchildren, Stephanie and Brandon Novosad and Melissa and Ignacio Gomez, all of Columbus, Ohio, Rebecca and Matt Reed of Liberty, Tennessee, Brittany Jackson of Hiram, Ohio, Tricia and Brian Timbers and Melissa and Bob Steinberg of Philadelphia, PA., Jacob Sackett, Jada Sackett both of Conneaut and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
     Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025.
     Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut, with Deaconess Nancy Guthrie officiating.
     Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut.
     Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Nancy's Memory.
     The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the aids and nurses who made it possible for Mom to come home during the final weeks of her life.

     Mr. and Mrs. T Jacob Antila of Conneaut, Ohio, announce the engagement of their daughter Nancy Marie, to James C Sackett, son of Mr and Mrs William H. Sackett formerly of Coalport, now of Conneaut, Ohio.
     Miss Antila, a 1955 graduate of Conneaut High School is employed by The City Loan Savings Company, while her fiance, a 1953 graduate of B-C-I High School, Coalport, Pa., is employed by Nickel Plate Roalroad.
     The wedding is being planned for June 9.
