Dr George Leslie Sackett Sr, physician, son of Harry Robert Sackett MD and Edith Parsons Hayes, was born in Holyoke, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 24 October 1901.1,2,3 He died aged 86 in Stuart, Martin County, FloridaG, on 3 March 1988.4,5 He married in Pinellas County, FloridaG, on 11 May 1921, Cora Lenore Hurst, daughter of John Edward Hurst and Mary Ella Beufer.6 Cora was born in OhioG on 22 May 18993 and died aged 81 in Martin County, FloridaG, on 26 October 1980.7,8
In 1910 George was living at Walnut Street, HolyokeG, in the household of his parents Harry and Edith, and was recorded in the census as George L Sackett, aged eight and born in Massachusetts.9
In 1920 he was living at Montgomery Avenue, HolyokeG, in the household of his parents Harry and Edith, and was recorded as George L Sackett, aged 18.10
In 1930 he was living at Lowerline Street, New Orleans, Orleans, LouisianaG, in the household of Ernest Harris and family, and was recorded as George L Sackett, a physician working in a hospital, aged 30. Living with him were his wife Cora, 30, and their son George, aged six.11,12
In 1940 he was living at 2900 Warrington, Shaker Heights, Cuyahoga County, OhioG, and was recorded as George Sackett, a medical doctor, aged 38. Living with him were his wife Cora, 40, their children, George, 16, Jack, 8, James, 2, and Joe, 3 months, and George's mother Edith Sackett, 68.13
George completed a World War II draft registration card on 16 February 1942. He was aged 40 and was a physician. He was living at 2900 Warrington, Shaker HeightsG, with his wife Cora.14

Stuart — Dr. George L. Sackett Sr., 86, of 4300 S.E. St. Lucie Blvd., died Thursday, March 3, at his home.
Born in Holyoke, Mass., he had been a resident of Stuart for eight years, coming from Cleveland, Ohio.
He was graduated from Dartmouth College in 1922 and Tulane University School of Medicine, Alpha Omega Alpha, in 1929. He served as a colonel in the U.S. Medical Corps during World War II.
He was a member of the Radiological Society of North America, serving as associate editor of its publication, Radiology. He was a past president of the Cleveland Academy of Medicine and the Lake County Medical Society; past commodore of Mentor Harbor Yacht Club and the Interlake Yachting Association.
He belonged to USYRU, the International Order of Blue Gavel Association, the Anchor Line Yacht Club and the U.S. Power Squadron. He was a member of the Audubon Society, the American Museum of Natural History, Historical Society of Martin County, Stuart Men's Garden Association, American Civil Liberties Union, Grand Lodge of F&AM of Ohio and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite.
Survivors include four sons, Dr. George L. Sackett Jr. of Stuart, John E. Sackett of Columbus, Ohio, James W. Sackett of Fort Myers, and Dr. Joseph F. Sackett, of Madison, Wis; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Edward Hurst, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Mr. George Leslie Sackett, son of Dr. and Mrs. Harry R. Sackett. The wedding will be solemnized Saturday evening, May 14, at 6:30 o'clock in the Congregational church, the ceremony being pronounced by the Rev. Kerrison Juniper.
