Leonard William Hogbin, surveyor, son of John Hogbin and Mary Ann Apps, was born in Herne Bay, Kent^G, in 1866.^1,2 He died aged 86 at home at Ray Dene, 57 Canterbury Road, Herne Bay, Kent^G, on 2 February 1953.^3,4 He married at St Dunstan and All Saints Church, Stepney, London^G, on 10 October 1893, Ada Chandler, daughter of William Chandler.⁵ Ada was born in Mile End, London^G, about 1870.¹
     In 1871 Leonard was living at Victoria House, William Street, Herne Bay^G, in the household of his parents John and Mary Ann, and was recorded in the census as Leonard W Hogbin, a scholar, aged five and born in Herne.⁶
     In 1881 he was living at Key Street, Bobbing, Kent^G, and was recorded as Leonard Hogbin, a scholar, aged 15 and born in Herne Bay. He was one of 22 boarders in a school run by Samuel Mabbs and his wife Mary.⁷

     Leonard proved his father John's will in London^G on 27 September 1913. His estate was valued at £6,566.¹¹
     Leonard left a will which was proved in Lewes, Sussex^G, on 1 May 1953 by his nephews Harold John Hogbin, John Ridout, and Reginald Alfred Hogbin. His estate was valued at £634.¹²

Alice Kate Hogbin, daughter of John Hogbin and Mary Ann Apps, was born in Herne Bay, Kent^G, in 1868^1,2 and died there aged 51 on 1 March 1920.^3,4 She married in Blean, Kent^G, in 1894, Thomas Frank Ridout, son of Frank A Ridout and Eliza F ___.^5,6 Thomas was born in Herne Bay^G in 1865^2,7 and died there aged 87 on 29 August 1952.^8,9
     In 1871 Alice was living at High Street, Herne Bay, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Alice K Hogbin, aged two and born in Herne Bay. She and her brother Alfred, aged one, were recorded in the household of William Tost Devine and his wife Betsy.¹⁰
     In 1881 she was living at Victoria House, Herne Bay^G, in the household of her parents John and Mary Ann, and was recorded as Alice Kate Hogbin, a scholar, aged 12 and born in Herne Bay.¹¹
     In 1891 she was living at Victoria House, 52 William Street, Herne Bay^G, in the household of her parents John and Mary Ann, and was recorded as Alice K Hogbin, an assistant in a fancy shop, single, aged 22 and born in Herne Bay.¹²
     In 1901 she was living at 28 Carlton Gardens, Herne Bay^G, in the household of her husband Thomas, 35, stationers assistant, and was recorded as Alice K Ridout, aged 32 and born in Herne Bay. Visiting the household was Elizabeth M Ridout, single, 26. The house was next door to that of Alice's brother Alfred.¹³

     Alice died intestate. Letters of administration of her estate were granted in London^G on 16 December 1920 to her husband Thomas. Her effects were valued at £111.⁴
     Thomas Ridout left a will which was proved on 13 January 1953 by his son John and nephew Harry Ridout. His estate was valued at £8,966.⁹

Alfred Apps Hogbin, son of John Hogbin and Mary Ann Apps, was born in Herne Bay, Kent^G, in 1869^1,2 and died there aged 73 on 1 February 1943.^3,4 He married in Blean, Kent^G, in 1894, Grace Carden.^5,6

     Alfred left a will which was proved in Llandudno, Caernarvonshire, Wales^G, on 21 June 1943 by his widow Grace. His estate was valued at £430.⁴

Amy Mary Ann Hogbin, daughter of John Hogbin and Mary Ann Apps, was born in Herne Bay, Kent^G, in 1864.^1,2
     In 1871 Amy was living at Victoria House, William Street, Herne Bay^G, in the household of her parents John and Mary Ann, and was recorded in the census as Amy M A Hogbin, a scholar, aged seven and born in Herne.³
     In 1881 she was living at Victoria House, Herne Bay^G, in the household of her parents John and Mary Ann, and was recorded as Amy Mary Ann Hogbin, an upholster's shop assistant, aged 17 and born in Herne Bay.⁴

Emily Mercy Lawrence, daughter of Shrubsole Lawrence Jr and Mercy Hogbin, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1874.^1,2 She married in 1900, John Hender Hooper.³ John was born in 1867⁴ and died in 1945.⁴
     In 1881 Emily was living at 50 High Street, Margate^G, in the household of her parents Shrubsole and Mercy, and was recorded in the census as Emily M Lawrence, a scholar, aged seven and born in Margate.⁵
     In 1891 she was living at 50 High Street, Margate^G, in the household of her parents Shrubsole and Mercy, and was recorded as Emily Mercy Lawrence, aged 16 and born in Margate.⁶
     Emily entered the Salvation Army Office Training College in 1896. She was the Salvation Army Officer at the Glastonbury Corps for a period.⁴
     John and Emily moved from Victoria to North Rocks, Sydney, in 1922, and established a citrus farm there. Emily travelled by train with their six chilldren. John made the journey by horse and cart, carrying their furniture and other possessions. The 900-mile trip took him three weeks. They remained on this farm until 1940 when they moved to a farm at Toongabbie, also on the then outskirts of Sydney.

Florence Mabel Lawrence, daughter of Shrubsole Lawrence Jr and Mercy Hogbin, was born in Margate, Kent^G, in 1878.^1,2 She died aged 73 in Bridge, Kent^G, in 1951.³ She married in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1902, George Noah Feavearyear.^4,5
     In 1881 Florence was living at 50 High Street, Margate^G, in the household of her parents Shrubsole and Mercy, and was recorded in the census as Florence M Lawrence, aged two and born in Margate.⁶
     In 1891 she was living at 50 High Street, Margate^G, in the household of her parents Shrubsole and Mercy, and was recorded as Frances Mary [sic] Lawrence, aged 12 and born in Margate.⁷
     In 1901 she was living at 3 Clarence Villas, Connaught Road, Margate^G, in the household of her parents Shrubsole and Mercy, and was recorded as Florence M Lawrence, a music teacher, aged 22 and born in Margate.⁸
     In 1911 she was living at 13 Police Quarrters, Chattenden, Rochester, Kent^G, in the household of her husband George, 41, a police constable, and was recorded as Florence Mabel Feavearyear, aged 32 and born in Margate. Living with them was their daughter Florence Mercy, aged three.⁹

Daniel Sackett Hogbin, son of John Hogbin and Phoebe Sackett, was born in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1841¹ and died there in infancy in 1842.²

Lewis Leonard Hogbin, son of Daniel Sackett Hogbin and Elizabeth Pound, was born in St Peter's, Kent^G, in 1876.^1,2 He married in Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 25 February 1897, Hannah Breads, daughter of John Breads.³
