Leonard William Hogbin, surveyor, son of John Hogbin and Mary Ann Apps, was born in Herne Bay, KentG, in 1866.1,2 He died aged 86 at home at Ray Dene, 57 Canterbury Road, Herne Bay, KentG, on 2 February 1953.3,4 He married at St Dunstan and All Saints Church, Stepney, LondonG, on 10 October 1893, Ada Chandler, daughter of William Chandler.5 Ada was born in Mile End, LondonG, about 1870.1
     In 1871 Leonard was living at Victoria House, William Street, Herne BayG, in the household of his parents John and Mary Ann, and was recorded in the census as Leonard W Hogbin, a scholar, aged five and born in Herne.6
     In 1881 he was living at Key Street, Bobbing, KentG, and was recorded as Leonard Hogbin, a scholar, aged 15 and born in Herne Bay. He was one of 22 boarders in a school run by Samuel Mabbs and his wife Mary.7

     In 1901 he was living at Woodbine, Birchington, KentG, and was recorded as Leonard Hogbin, district surveyor for the Rural District Council, head of household, married, aged 35 and born in Herne Bay. Living with him were his wife Ada, 30, and their children, Raymond, 4, and Douglas, aged eleven months. There was also a female domestic servant in the household.9
     In 1911 he was living at 47 Preston Road, Leytonstone, EssexG, and was recorded as Leonard William Hogbin, surveyor, Stepney Borough Council, head of household, aged 45 and born in Herne Bay. Living with him were his wife Ada, 40, and their children, Raymond, 14, and Douglas, aged ten. There was also a female general servant in the household.10
     Leonard proved his father John's will in LondonG on 27 September 1913. His estate was valued at £6,566.11
     Leonard left a will which was proved in Lewes, SussexG, on 1 May 1953 by his nephews Harold John Hogbin, John Ridout, and Reginald Alfred Hogbin. His estate was valued at £634.12

     In 1881 Emily was living at 50 High Street, MargateG, in the household of her parents Shrubsole and Mercy, and was recorded in the census as Emily M Lawrence, a scholar, aged seven and born in Margate.5
     In 1891 she was living at 50 High Street, MargateG, in the household of her parents Shrubsole and Mercy, and was recorded as Emily Mercy Lawrence, aged 16 and born in Margate.6
     Emily entered the Salvation Army Office Training College in 1896. She was the Salvation Army Officer at the Glastonbury Corps for a period.4
     John and Emily moved from Victoria to North Rocks, Sydney, in 1922, and established a citrus farm there. Emily travelled by train with their six chilldren. John made the journey by horse and cart, carrying their furniture and other possessions. The 900-mile trip took him three weeks. They remained on this farm until 1940 when they moved to a farm at Toongabbie, also on the then outskirts of Sydney.

Lewis Leonard Hogbin, son of Daniel Sackett Hogbin and Elizabeth Pound, was born in St Peter's, KentG, in 1876.1,2 He married in Ramsgate, KentG, on 25 February 1897, Hannah Breads, daughter of John Breads.3
     In 1881 Lewis was living at 34 Pleasant Place, MargateG, in the household of his mother Elizabeth and grandmother Elizabeth Pound, and was recorded in the census as Lewis L Hogbin, aged five and born in St Peter's.4
