John Hogbin, auctioneer, son of John Hogbin and Phoebe Sackett, was born in Margate, KentG, in 1836 and baptized at St John in ThanetG on 16 October 1836.1 He died aged 76 in Herne Bay, KentG, on 6 August 1913.2,3 He married first in Thanet, KentG, in 1859, Mary Ann Apps, daughter of ___ Apps and Sarah ___.4,5 Mary Ann was born in Ramsgate, KentG, about 18288 and died aged 63 in Herne BayG in 1891.9 He married second in Louth, LincolnshireG, in 1894, Catherine Augusta Cresswell.6,7
John Hogbin was engaged in business as an auctioneer and upholsterer. His will indicates that he prospered, and he was described in his son Leonard's marriage record by the honorific "gentleman."
In 1841 John was living at Hardres Street, RamsgateG, in the household of his parents John and Phoebe, and was recorded in the census as John Hogben, aged four and born in Kent.10

Mercy Hogbin, daughter of John Hogbin and Phoebe Sackett, was born in Margate, KentG, in 18382,3 and baptized at St George, Ramsgate, KentG, on 10 June 1838.4 She died aged 82 in Thanet, KentG, in 1921.5 She married in ThanetG in 1867, Shrubsole Lawrence Jr, son of Shrubsole Lawrence Sr and Harriet ___.6,7 Shrubsole was born in MargateG about 18402 and died aged 82 in ThanetG in 1923.8 Shrubsole's brother Frederick Lawrence married Mercy's sister Mary Ann.9

Emma Hogbin, daughter of John Hogbin and Phoebe Sackett, was born in Ramsgate, KentG, in 1847.1,2 She died aged 87 in Broadstairs, KentG, on 10 January 1934.3 She married in Thanet, KentG, in 1869, James George Marsh.4,5 James was born in Canterbury, KentG, about 1848.2 James died in Broadstairs, KentG, on 21 September 1903.6 He drowned when attempting to rescue a swimmer who had got into difficulties.6,7

Emma left a will which was proved in LondonG on 17 May 1934 by her children Donald and Emma. Her estate was valued at £807. Her last address was Jamesville, Crow Hill, Broadstairs.3

George Henry Sackett, son of John Henry Sackett and Elizabeth Catherine Meinert, was born in Bermondsey, SurreyG, on 29 April 18301 and baptized at St Mary Magdalen, BermondseyG, on 20 June 1830.1 He was probably the George Sackett who died in Islington, MiddlesexG, in 18802 and was buried at Islington CemeteryG on 27 August 1880.3
