Willie Sackett, son of Samuel S Sackett and Rebecca Green, was born on 14 July 1871.¹ He died in infancy on 15 October 1872 and was buried at Sewickley Cemetery, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G.²

Samuel S Sackett was born in Indiana^G on 4 March 1842.¹ He died aged 90 in Harrison, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G, on 13 March 1932 and was buried at Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Allegheny County^G, on 16 March 1932.^3,4 He married first about 1865, Rebecca Green, daughter of Robert Green and Eliza Smith. Rebecca was born in Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G, on 4 March 1845.^2,5 She died there aged 53 on 11 March 1898 and was buried at Sewickley Cemetery^G.⁴ Samuel and Rebecca were presumably divorced by about 1890 when he married second Sarah Hodson , daughter of William Hodson and Annie Walton.² Sarah was born in England^G on 16 July 1866.^6,2 She died aged 43 at Cherry Street, Brackenridge, Allegheny County^G, on 27 February 1910 and was buried at Prospect Cemetery, Brackenridge^G.⁷
     Samuel S Sackett's parents have not been identified, and his origins remain a mystery. His son Leroy was unable to name Samuel's parents for his death certificate. Census records for him before 1880 have not been found. Records that have been found are somewhat contradictory, and the fact of two marriages with apparently overlapping dates suggests the possibility that there were two men, not one. However, the likelihood of there having been two Samuel S Sacketts of similar age in the same area seems remote—and there would then be two mysteries.
     Samuel served from 1861 to 1864 in the Union army during the American Civil War as a corporal in the 24th Ohio Infantry Regiment. He received a disability pension from 1887 for an eye condition.^8,9,10
     In 1870 Rebecca was living in Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of her mother Eliza Green. She was recorded as Rebecca Green, aged 25 and born in Pennsylvania. Her children were not listed in this household.¹¹
     In 1880 Rebecca was living at Beaver Street, Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of her widowed mother Eliza Green. She was recorded as Rebeka Sacket, a seamstress, married, aged 32 and born in Pennsylvania. Her children, Lida, 13, and Harry, aged 12, were living with her.¹²
     A family comprising husband Samuel Sackett, 29, his wife Rebecca, 28, and children, Lida, 9, and Jerry, aged 8, is also found in the 1880 census records for Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G. Although the ages are off by some years and the son is named Jerry, not Harry, no other records have been found that would match this family. It would seem likely that this family was reported by Samuel, who was living in Pittsburgh, while his wife and children were living or staying in Sewickley with Rebecca's mother.¹³
     Samuel was listed in the Pittsburgh City Directory from 1869. He was at first the proprietor of a saloon or eating house, and from 1878 was an electrician. Listings for him in Pittsburgh are found up to 1891. In 1898 Rebecca was listed as a widow, living at 326 Centennial Avenue.¹⁴
     In 1900 Samuel was living at Fifth Avenue, Arnold, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania^G, and was recorded in the census as Samuel S Sackett, head of household, aged 61. He gave his occupation as "billiards and pool". He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Sarah, 33, and their children, Earl, 6, Leroy, 4, and Madalene, aged one month.¹⁵
     In 1910 he was living at Cherry Street, Brackenridge, Allegheny County^G, and was recorded as Samuel S Sackett, proprietor of a pool room, head of household, a widower, aged 71. He owned his home on a mortgage. Living with him were his children, William, 16, Leroy, 13, Madaline, 10, and Mabel, aged seven.¹⁶
     Samuel was listed in the New Kensington City Directory in 1911 and 1915. He was the proprietor of a pool/billiards hall. He was living at 106 Cherry Street in 1915, with his children, William, Leroy, Madeline, and presumably Mabel.¹⁷
     In 1920 he was living at Cherry Street, Brackenridge^G, and was recorded as S S Sackett, a pool room proprietor, a widower, aged 80. He owned his home. Living with him were his son Earl, 26, and daughter Florence, aged 17.¹⁸
     In 1930 he was living at Linden Avenue, Harrison, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G, and was recorded as Samuel S Sackett, head of household, a widower, aged 91. He owned his home. His unmarried son William, 36, was living with him.¹⁹

Earl William Sackett, usually known as William, son of Samuel S Sackett and Sarah Hodson, was born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G, on 20 January 1894.^1,2 He died aged 64 in VA Hospital Aspinwall, O'Hara, Allegheny County^G, on 15 December 1958 and was buried at Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Allegheny County^G.³
     In 1900 Earl was living at Fifth Avenue, Arnold, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of his parents Samuel and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Earl W Sackett, aged six and born in Pennsylvania.⁴
     In 1910 he was living at Cherry Street, Brackenridge, Allegheny County^G, in the household of his widowed father Samuel, and was recorded as William E Sackett, aged 16.⁵
     Earl served in the US Army from April 1918 to April 1919 during the First World War as a private in the 318th Infantry.⁶
     In 1920 he was living at Cherry Street, Brackenridge^G, in the household of his widowed father Samuel, and was recorded as Earl W Sackett, a mill worker, single, aged 26.⁷
     In 1930 he was living at Linden Avenue, Harrison, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of his widowed father Samuel, and was recorded as William E Sackett, of no occupation, aged 36.⁸

Leroy Sylvester Sackett, son of Samuel S Sackett and Sarah Hodson, was born in Wilmerding, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania^G, on 18 April 1896.^1,2 He died aged 60 at the Columbia Hospital, Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County^G, on 6 December 1956 and was buried at Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Allegheny County^G, on 10 December 1956.³ He married about 1917, Lillian Quinn. Lillian was born in Pennsylvania^G about 1898.¹
     In 1900 Leroy was living at Fifth Avenue, Arnold, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of his parents Samuel and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Leroy S Sackett, aged four and born in Pennsylvania.⁴
     In 1910 he was living at Cherry Street, Brackenridge, Allegheny County^G, in the household of his widowed father Samuel, and was recorded as Leroy S Sackett, aged 13.⁵
     Leroy was listed in the New Kensington City Directory in 1915. He was a mill worker and was living at 106 Cherry Street^G.⁶
     Leroy completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was aged 21 and was a craneman. He was living at 106 Cheng Street, Brackenridge^G, and was single.⁷
     In 1920 he was living at Third Street, Brackenridge^G, in the household of Lilly's parents John and Annie Boyd, and was recorded as Leroy S Sacket, a watchman at the Sand & Gravel Company, aged 23. Living with him were his wife Lilly, 21, and their daughter Margaret, aged one.⁸
     In 1927 Leroy and Lillian were living at 348 Mile Lock Lane, Brackenridge^G. Leroy was a railway conductor.⁹
     In 1930 he was living at Locust Street, Harrison, Allegheny County^G, and was recorded as Leroy Sackett, a grinder in a steel mill, head of household, aged 34. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Lillian, 32, and their children, Margaret, 11, David, 9, Ruth, 7, Phillip, 6, Richard, 4, and Lillian, aged two.¹⁰
     Leroy completed a World War II draft registration card on 27 April 1942. He was aged 46 and was a self-employed painting contractor. He was living at 407, 4th Avenue, Tarentum^G.¹¹

Madeline Leona Sackett, daughter of Samuel S Sackett and Sarah Hodson, was born in Arnold, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania^G, on 19 April 1900.^1,2 She died aged 94 on 15 July 1994.³ She married ___ Kendall.
     In 1900 Madeline was living at Fifth Avenue, Arnold, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of her parents Samuel and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Madalene L Sackett, aged one month and born in Pennsylvania.⁴
     In 1910 she was living at Cherry Street, Brackenridge, Allegheny County^G, in the household of her widowed father Samuel, and was recorded as Madaline Sackett, aged ten.⁵

Mabel G Sackett, also known as Florence, daughter of Samuel S Sackett and Sarah Hodson, was born in Pennsylvania^G on 26 November 1902.^1,2 She married in Lucas County, Ohio^G, on 23 July 1928, Ralph G Windell, son of John M Windell and Martha Wilson.³ Ralph was born in Ohio^G on 13 August 1897.²
     In 1910 Mabel was living at Cherry Street, Brackenridge, Allegheny County^G, in the household of her widowed father Samuel, and was recorded in the census as Mabel G Sackett, aged seven and born in Pennsylvania.⁴
     In 1920 she was living at Cherry Street, Brackenridge^G, in the household of her widowed father Samuel, and was recorded as Florence I Sackett, a houseworker for a private family, aged 17.⁵

Joyce Tomlin, daughter of Richard Tomlin and Joyce Sackett, died in infancy and was buried at St Peter in Thanet, Kent^G, on 22 May 1584.¹

Victor Gordon Hooper, son of John Hender Hooper and Emily Mercy Lawrence, was born in Victoria, Australia^G, in 1915.¹ He died aged about 80 in 1995.¹ He married in 1945, Irene Frances Jackson.¹
     Vic Hooper was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army and played Eb bass tuba in a number of Salvation Army bands.¹

Mary Pamflett, daughter of Gilbert Pamflett and Alice Sackett, was baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 29 December 1564.¹
