Born April 27, 1930, in Nixa, he worked for the Yellow Cab Co. for many years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Sackett Taylor in 1952; his father, Forrest Sackett, in 1969; and his mother, Margaret Sackett in 1988. He is survived by a brother, Harold Sackett, and his wife, Zona, Port Orford, Ore; a sister, Betty Savard, Springfield; two uncles, Clyde Justice and Claude Justice, both of Springfield; an aunt, Velma Davis, Clever; three nephews, Danny and David Sackett, Eugene, Ore., and Tom Savard, Springfield; four nieces, Patricia Jolliff, Eugene, Ore., Glenda Purkey, Coos Bay, Ore., Janice Taylor Campbell, state of Texas, and Karen Savard, Springfield; and several great-nephews, -nieces and cousins.
Memorial services were held Sunday, March 11, 1990, in Payne Cemetery.

Elmer R Sackett, son of Christopher C Sackett and Annie Walls, was born in NebraskaG on 30 November 1875.1,2 He died aged 64 in Christian County, MissouriG, on 30 July 19403 and was buried at Payne Cemetery, Nixa, Christian CountyG.6 He married first in Christian CountyG on 21 December 1893, Lillie May Hamilton, daughter of Benjamin Hamilton and Naoma Marr.4 Lillie was born in Dowagiac, Cass County, MichiganG, on 1 February 1878.7 She died aged 71 at the City Hospital, Springfield, Greene County, MissouriG, on 9 November 19498 and was buried at Payne Cemetery, NixaG.7 Elmer and Lillie divorced sometime between 1930 and 1934. Elmer married second in Christian CountyG on 13 November 1934, Laura Dryden.5 Laura was born in MissouriG about 1886.2 They divorced in 1939 or 1940.2

Elmer Sackett, 65, died at his home in Nixa at 4 o'clock this morning. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Hunter, of Joplin; three sons, Floyd and Wayne, of California, and Forest, of Nixa; five sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at the Nixa Church of Christ at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

CLEVER — Floyd Edward Sackett, 72, Clever, died about noon Monday in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
He is survived by hie wife, Catharine; one son, Allen, Whittier, Calif; one daughter, Mrs. Odessia Worstine, Ontario, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Velma Girth, Clever; one brother, Forrest, Springfield; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Cantrell Chapel at Clever with Ben Boettcher officiating. Burial will be Friday at Binger, Okla.

PORT ORFORD — Funeral services for Harold F. Sackett, 63, of Port Orford, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Port Orford Funeral Service, Port Orford. Pastor Mark Newman of of the First Community Church of Port Orford will officiate.
Interment will be at Port Orford Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Port Orford Funeral Service, 663 14th St.
He was born Feb. 24, 1932, at Nixa, Mo., and died Nov. 30, 1995, at his home at Port Orford of a heart attack.
Mr. Sackett joined the U.S. Navy in San Diego at the age of 18.
He married Zona Campbell on Dec. 26, 1952, at Harrison, Ark., and they moved to Eugene in 1963, where he worked in plywood mills.
In 1973 they moved to Port Orford, where Mr. Sackett was employed by Western States Plywood.
He had a great love of fishing, especially in the Elk River, and he dearly loved his children and grandchildren, according to his family.
Survivors include his wife, Zona Sackett of Port Orford; two daughters, Tricia Nason of Eugene, and Glenda Purkey of Coos Bay; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Danny Sackett of Eugene, and David and Susan Sackett of Eugene; a sister, Betty Savard of Springfield, Mo; a daughter-in-law, Nita Cherry of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren, Israel Sackett of Arkansas, Danny, Aleaha, Brandon, Tyson and Jessica Sackett of Eugene, Darrell, Kara, Kristen, and Kelsey Jolliff of Eugene, Ian Jolliff of Hawaii, and Steven and Lisa Purkey of Coos Bay; uncles and aunts, Claude and Romae Justice, and Clyde and Juanita Justice, all of Springfield, Mo; two nieces; one nephew; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest Sackett, in 1969, and Margaret Sackett, in 1988; a sister, Louise Taylor, in 1952; a brother, Donald Sackett, in 1990; and his granddaughter, Stacie Jolliff, in 1978.

Velma Lee Sackett, daughter of Elmer R Sackett and Lillie May Hamilton, was born in MissouriG on 28 September 1911.1,2 She died aged 81 in Clever, Christian County, MissouriG, on 9 October 1992.3,4,5 She married first in Christian CountyG on 2 July 1927, William Robert Hale, usually known as Robert or Bob, son of Joseph Clinton Hale and Mary Elizabeth Cavender.6 Robert was born in Christian County, MissouriG, on 4 July 1896.8 They divorced sometime before 1940. He died aged 75 in SpringfieldG on 28 May 19729 and was buried at Manley Cemetery, Nixa, Christian County, MissouriG.8 Velma married second before 1940, Bert Marshall Hunter, son of William Hunter and Frances ___.1 Bert was born in Taneyville, Taney County, MissouriG, on 23 June 1894.1,2,10 Velma and Bert divorced sometime before October 1946 when Bert obtained a license to marry Chloe Bateman. He died aged 80 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Kansas City, Jackson County, MissouriG, on 8 April 1975.5,11 Velma married third before 1964, ___ Sullivan. (A record of this marriage has not been found. Velma was Velma Lee Sullivan in the record of her marriage to Virgil Girth. She was named as Thelma Sullivan in the newspaper obituary of her brother Forrest in 1969, although she had married Girth more than four years earlier.) Velma married fourth in Aurora, Lawrence County, MissouriG, on 31 October 1964, Virgil Girth.7 Virgil was born in Carthage, Jasper County, MissouriG, on 8 August 1901.2,5 He died aged 77 in SpringfieldG on 14 May 197912,5 and was buried at Hazelwood Cemetery, SpringfieldG.8 Velma was not named in Virgil's obituary, suggesting they had divorced. Velma married fifth after 1967, James Herman Davis, son of James A Davis and Minnie Ann ___. (A marriage record has not been found. James's first wife, Violet Phillips, died in March 1966. Velma was named as Velma Girth in her brother Floyd's obituary in February 1967.) James was born in Clever, Christian County, MissouriG, on 16 August 1905.13,8 He died there aged 84 on 11 May 19905,14 and was buried at Wise Hill Cemetery, CleverG.8
In 1920 Velma was living in Porter, Christian CountyG, in the household of her parents Elmer and Lillie, and was recorded in the census as Velma Sackett, aged seven and born in Missouri.15
In 1930 Velma was living at Independence Avenue, Kansas City, Jackson County, MissouriG, in the household of her husband Robert Hale, 33, a laborer, and was recorded in the census as Velma Hale, aged 18. Their daughter Mildred, aged one, was living with them.16
In 1940 she was living at 412 West 14 Avenue, Joplin, Jasper County, MissouriG, in the household of her husband Bert Hunter, 45, a truck driver, and was recorded as Velma Hunter, aged 28. Velma's widowed mother Lillie, 63, and daughter Mildred, aged eleven, were living with them. Also in the household were two daughters of Bert's first marriage.17,18
Velma was listed in 1946 in the Springfield City Directory as the wife of Bert M Hunter.19

CLEVER — Graveside services for Velma Lee Davis, Clever, will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Wise Hill Cemetery under direction of Meadors Funeral Home. Mrs. Davis, a homemaker, died at 9:25 a.m. Friday in Maranatha Manor.

Velma Lee Davis
CLEVER — Velma Lee Davis, 81, Clever, died at 9:25 a.m. Friday in Maranatha Lodge, following a long illness.
She was longtime resident of Clever and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Springfield.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, who had taken care of her, Betty Little, Marshfield; six nieces; and cousins.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Wise Hill Cemetery, north of Clever, with Pastor Albert Oetman officiating. Services and burial are under direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Clever.
Memorial contributions may be made to HOSPICE of Southwest Missouri.

Services for Bert M. Hunter, 80, of 1105 West Division, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Funeral Home with Prentice Meador officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery.
Mr. Hunter, an Army veteran of World War I, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City after a long illness.

Bert M. Hunter
Bert M. Hunter, 80, of 1105 West Division, died at 3 a m. Tuesday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Kansas City, after a long illness.
Mr. Hunter, a retired laborer, was an Army veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Chloe; a son, Raymond, of 2546 West Elm; two daughters, Miss Evelyn Hunter, Kansas City, and Mrs. Helen Nickonwicz, St. Louis; a brother, Frank, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Pearl, both of Forsyth; three step-sons, Harold Cook, of Tulsa, Arnold Bateman, of Springfield, and Ernie Bateman, of Kansas City; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Funeral Home with Prentice Meador officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery.

Virgil Girth
Services for Virgil Girth, 77, will be at 10 a m. Wednesday in Klingner Chapel with Dr. David Cavin officiating.
The body will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr Girth died at 3 p m. Monday in the Springfield MediCenter after a one-year illness.
He was born in Carthage and lived in Springfield most of his life. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include three sons. Bob and Larry, Springfield, and Jerry, Billings; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Burnett, Springfield, and Mrs. Barbara Sapp, Kimberling City; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

James Herman Davis
CLEVER — James Herman Davis, 84, Clever, died at 9:20 p.m. Friday in St. John's Regional Health Center after a long illness.
He was a longtime resident of the Clever area and a retired auto mechanic He is survived by his wife, Velma; a brother, John Davis, Tulsa, Okla; a sister, Betty Little, Marshfield; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Meadors Chapel, Clever, with Rev. John Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Wise Hill Cemetery.
The funeral home will be open after 3 p.m. today.
