George Sackett, Thames waterman, son of Thomas Sackett and Mary Wilkinson, was born in Bermondsey, SurreyG, on 6 March 17721 and baptized at St Mary Magdalen, BermondseyG, on 5 April 1772.1 He died aged 70 in Bethnal Green, MiddlesexG, in 18422 and was buried at Bunhill Fields, London, MiddlesexG, on 15 June 1842.3 He married Sophia ___. She died aged 65 in Lewisham, KentG, in 1841.4
     George, as the only surviving family member, was named as sole beneficiary of his sister Sophia's estate in letters of administration granted on 10 September 1830. George had, by that date, been registered as a lunatic and administration was granted to his son George Samuel who was to apply the estate "for the use and benefit of the said George Sackett during his lunacy."
