Sudden death.
On Wednesday last, Helen Louisa Hudson, aged 72, of 68, High Street, St Lawrence, was found dead in bed. In July she had a apoplectic stroke and was then attended by Dr Hicks, who on being called in on Wednesday expressed the opinion death was due to natural causes. The case was reported to the Coroner who did not consider an inquest necessary.

LeRoy Eugene Sackett, son of Arthur Emile "Art" Sackett and Edith Pearl Lewis, was born in Greenfield, Adair County, IowaG, on 3 August 1922.1,2,3,4 He died aged 74 in Panora, Guthrie County, IowaG, on 5 September 19962 and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Harrison, Adair County, IowaG.3,4,7,8 He married first in Guthrie Center, Guthrie CountyG, on 8 February 1944, Oma Ruth Miller, daughter of Charles Leroy Miller and Omeda Eastman.5 Oma Ruth was born in Menlo, Guthrie CountyG, on 6 December 1924.9 They divorced by 1962 when LeRoy remarried (Oma Ruth remarried in Idaho in 1965, Ferry Albert Knight.)10 She died aged 84 in Stuart, Adair County, IowaG, on 17 February 2009 and was buried at Rosehill Cemetery, Menlo, Guthrie CountyG.7 LeRoy married second on 16 June 1962, Devonna Irene Phillips, daughter of Roy Marshall Phillips and Hazel Pearl Gilmore.6 Devonna was born on 22 October 1927.6 She died aged 84 in Fontanelle, Adair CountyG, on 13 November 2011 and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, HarrisonG.7,11
     In 1930 LeRoy was living in Grove, Adair County, IowaG, in the household of his parents Art and Edith, and was recorded in the census as Leroy E Sackett, aged seven and born in Iowa.12
     In 1940 he was living in GroveG in the household of his parents Art and Edith, and was recorded as Le Roy Sackett, a farmer, aged 17.13
     LeRoy completed a World War II draft registration card on 30 June 1942. He was aged 19 and was employed by his father Art Sackett. He was living in Stuart, Adair County, IowaG.14
     LeRoy served in the US Army for two years from 28 February 1944 to 11 February 1946 during the Second World War.4,15

LeRoy E. Sackett, 74, of Menlo died of a respiratory ailment Thursday at Craft Care Center in Panora. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fairview Congregational Church near Stuart, and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
     Mr. Sackett was born in Greenfield and lived in Stuart before moving to Menlo eight years ago. He was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Congregational Church, Glover-Buttler American Legion post and Farm Bureau.
     Among survivors are his wife, DeVonna; four sons, Roger of Lacona, Wash., Robert of Seattle, Richard of Menlo and Randy of Greenfield; a daughter, Roxane Harrison of Greenfield; two brothers, Frank of Greenfield and Harry of Stuart; four sisters, Velma Tiedeman of Fontanelle, Arlene Bunce of Raytown, Mo., Vera Schneider of Greenfield and Lou Mains of Carson; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
     Friends may call after 9 a.m. Sunday at Link Funeral Home in Stuart, where the family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Oma Ruth's obituary
Oma Ruth Knight was born December 6, 1924 in Menlo, Iowa. She went to join the Lord February 17, 2009 at the age of 84. Ruth was the third child of fourteen born to Charles and Omeda Miller. Ruth attended school in Menlo, Iowa. Ruth married LeRoy Sackett in 1944. They were blessed with four sons and lived on a farm south of Stuart in Adair County until 1960. In 1965 Ruth married Ferry Knight and they moved to Washington State where they lived until 1979 when they moved back to Iowa to retire.
     Ruth enjoyed gardening cooking, country music, camping and just talking about everything in life. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. Ruth was a member of the Stuart Methodist Church and Menlo Legion Auxiliary.
     Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, four brothers, five sisters and one grandchild.
     Surviving are four sons, Roger Sackett, wife Lynn of Redfield; Robert Sackett, wife Margaret of Seattle, Washington; Richard Sackett, wife Betty of Stuart; and Randy Sackett, wife Phyllis of Greenfield; five sisters, Helen Egger of Yuba City, California; Bonnie Garwood of Dexter; Mary Bass of Stuart; Deanna Miller of Stuart; Judy Ford of Bridgewater; and one sister in law Reba Miller of Menlo; and one brother in law John Still of DeSoto. Ruth was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
