Jack Kimber joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 to serve in the Pacific during World War II. He later earned a B.S. and Ph.D. from MIT. He was on the faculties of the University of Nebraska, Utah State University, and other colleges as a math and computer programming professor. Since the Vietnam War era, he was a peace activist and champion for such causes as homelessness. He had a wide-ranging intellect that led him to study many disciplines, enjoying art and music as well as hiking, biking and swimming. [Obituary]
