Azariah Root, son of Eli Root and Mindwell Sacket, was born in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, on 20 December 1761.1 He died aged 90 in Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, OhioG, on 1 January 1852.1 He married in PittsfieldG on 5 October 1788, Nellie Barber, daughter of Matthew Barber.1
Azariah served in the American Revolutionary War, and witnessed the execution of Major André at Tappan, New York, on 2 October 1780. In the War of 1812, Azariah commanded a regiment.1

Tirzah Sacket, daughter of Erastus Sacket and Elizabeth Leonard, was born about 17711 and baptized at the First Church of Christ, Pittsfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, on 13 March 1774.2 She died aged 56 at Delphi Falls, Onondaga County, New York StateG, on 13 February 1828 and was buried at Pease Cemetery, Delphi FallsG.4,5 She married at the First Church of Christ, PittsfieldG, on 2 June 1799, Elijah Hill.3 Elijah was born about 1774.1 He died aged 88 on 29 March 1863 and was buried at Pease CemeteryG.4
