Marian Ruth Sackett, daughter of Claude Charles Sackett and Ruth Agnes Shanafelt, was born in Tallmadge, Summit County, OhioG, on 8 May 1910.1,2,3 She died aged 92 in Stow, Summit CountyG, on 20 February 20034,5,6 and was buried at Tallmadge CemeteryG.1 She married in Summit CountyG on 24 January 1937, James Park Emmitt, son of Homer Emmitt and Lina Park.7,8 James was born in Barberton, Summit CountyG, on 10 February 1911.1 He died aged 84 in Akron, Summit CountyG, on 11 February 19959 and was buried at Tallmadge CemeteryG.1
     In 1920 Marian was living in TallmadgeG in the household of her parents Claude and Ruth, and was recorded in the census as Marion Sackett, aged nine.10
     In 1930 she was living at North East Road, TallmadgeG, in the household of her parents Claude and Ruth, and was recorded as Marian R Sackett, a timekeeper in a rubber shop, aged 19.11
     In 1940 she was living in Wooster, Wayne County, OhioG, in the household of her husband James, 29, a salesman, and was recorded as Marian Emmitt, aged 30, a comptometer operator in a rubber manufacturing company.12

Tallmadge — Marian R. Emmitt (Sackett), 92, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003.
     Born in Tallmadge, she was a life resident of the area. She was employed in real estate with Howell-Viggers, and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge.
     Preceded in death by her husband, James P. Emmitt, son, John C. Emmitt, parents, Claude and Ruth Sackett, sisters, Esther B. Weatherford, Virginia Young, she is survived by brother, Charles M. Sackett of Indiana, grandson, Randy (Connie) Emmitt of Virginia Beach, Va; and several nieces and nephews.
     There will be no calling hours. Graveside services at the convenience of the family. Interment Tallmadge Cemetery. Donations may be made to First Congregational Church of Tallmadge.

James P. Emmitt
Tallmadge — James P. Emmitt, 84, died Feb. 11, 1995.
     Mr. Emmitt retired as the postmaster for the Tallmadge Post Office with 20 years' service. Prior to that, he worked at Goodyear Aircraft. He was bom in Barberton and lived his life in Tallmadge. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge and was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a former member of the Tallmadge Lions Club, a member of the Tallmadge Historical Society, the Civil War Society, American Legion and the Tallmadge Lodge 756 F&AM. He was a graduate of the Cleveland Arts School and a member of the N.A.R.F.E.
     He is survived by his wife, Marian R; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Kathryn Emmitt of Florida; grandson, Randy Emmitt of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
     Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, with Rev. C. Edward Carter officiating. Burial at Tallmadge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Ave., from 5 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of other remembrances, donations may be given to the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge.

Jesse was born on 30 June 1917.1 He died aged 91 on 5 July 2008 and was buried at Meadowbrook Memorial GardensG.1

Esther Sackett Weatherford
The family of Esther Sackett Weatherford celebrates her life and mourns her passing on Aug. 14, 1999.
     Mrs. Weatherford, 83, of the 5000 block of Dogwood Trail, died in a local nursing home. Born in Tallmadge, Ohio, she earned two degrees from Kent State University and taught high school English and history.
     Mrs. Weatherford was a charter member of Green Acres Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of Elizabeth River Garden Club, Students Club, and the American Association of University Women.
     She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jesse A. Weatherford; a daughter, Janet E. O'Kelly of Richmond; three sons, Robert A. Weatherford of Richmond, Richard L. Weatherford of Atlanta, Thomas A. Weatherford of Suffolk; a sister, Marion Emmitt of Stow, Ohio; a brother, Charles Sackett of Sun City West, Ariz; and eight grandchildren.
     A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Green Acres Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Walter C. Hunting and the Rev. P. Edward Forsyth. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Green Acres Presbyterian Church.
