Living with him were his wife, Frances, aged 37 and born in New York, and their daughters, Fanny (16), Emma (12), and Belle Thompson (6). Also in the household were two female servants.³

Hannah Caroline Sackett, daughter of Amos Mead Sackett and Sarah Elisabeth Adeline Mead, was born on 5 May 1836.¹ She married in New York City, New York State^G, on 27 April 1854, Joseph Abner Harper.^1,2

The income of the estate was to be used initially for the maintenance of Hannah's invalid brother Howard. After Howard's death, she was to receive an equal share with her siblings of the residue of the estate after payment of a larger share, effectively a double share, to her brother States.⁴

States Mead Sackett, son of Amos Mead Sackett and Sarah Elisabeth Adeline Mead, was born on 10 April 1840.¹ He married Harriet L Palmer, daughter of Henry P Palmer and Harriet Lyon.¹

     In 1860 he was living in New York City^G in the household of his parents Amos and Sarah, and was recorded as Stus [sic] Sackett, a clerk, aged 17 [actually 20].³
     States was named as a beneficiary in the will of his mother Sarah made in New York City^G on 18 June 1889. He was appointed executor and also trustee of the estate, the income of which was to be used for the maintenance of his invalid brother Howard. After Howard's death, States was to receive $5,000 or 5/18ths of the estate, his five other siblings sharing the remainder equally. Unusually the will stated an estimate of the value of the estate—$18,000—presumably to establish a context for the bequest to States. Although the wording is ambiguous, it was probably intended that the sum of $5,000 be a minimum amount, with upward adjustment on the assumption that the estate would increase in value, so that States' share would be approximately double that of each of his siblings. The will was proved at the New York City Surrogate's Court on 7 October 1897.⁴

Charles Edgar Sackett, son of Amos Mead Sackett and Sarah Elisabeth Adeline Mead, was born in New York State^G on 8 December 1841.^1,2 He died aged 85 in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut^G, on 20 March 1927³ and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, New York State^G.⁴ He married at Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut^G, on 23 October 1862, Caroline Ball Wilson, daughter of John R Wilson and Caroline Ball.^1,2 Caroline was born in New Jersey^G in February 1844² and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx^G.⁵ She died aged 60 on 17 August 1904.
     Charles's namesake Charles Edgar Sackett, son of John Sackett and Cornelia Olmstead, was a first cousin once removed.

     In 1900 he was living at Library Place, Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut^G, and was recorded as Charles Sackett, a patent lawyer, head of household, aged 59. Living with him were his wife Caroline, 56, and their children, Hope, 37, and May, aged 30.¹²
     Charles was granted a patent in France^G on 21 April 1904 for a self-threading shuttle for looms, with automatic chain stop and advanced yarn control and flow.¹³
     Charles served as an Inspector in the Quartermaster's Department in 1905. He was appointed in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and employed at Schuylkill Arsenal, Pennsylvania.¹⁴
     In 1920 Charles was living at St Allana Street, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania^G, in the household of William Walker, and was recorded in the census as Charles Sackett, inspector at the Arsenal, a boarder, a widower, aged 78.¹⁵

Lydia Mead Sackett, daughter of Amos Mead Sackett and Sarah Elisabeth Adeline Mead, was born on 15 April 1847¹ and died in infancy in New York State^G on 28 September 1848.^1,2
