Danbury. Conn. July 25. — May Belcher Sackett, aged 35. a member of a prominent family here, committed suicide by hanging today at her home. Her body was discovered suspended from a beam in the cellar and cut down by her sister. No reason is assigned for the suicide.

Danbury, July 25.—Miss May Belcher Sackett, thirty-five, one of the best-known women of this city, committed suicide by hanging to-day at her home on Terrace Place. Her body was discovered suspended from a beam in the cellar and cut down by her sister, Miss Hope Sackett. Physicians found that the young woman had been dead several hours. Miss Sackett had been in exceptionally good spirits and the only reason assigned for the suicide is a sudden attack of suicidal mania.

Floyd Sackett, 86, of Pampa passed away on August 20, 2020 in Pampa.
     Private family service will be Saturday, September 5, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church in Pampa with Rev. Ed Sackett and Rev. Dr. Ken McIntosh, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. His body was donated to Texas Tech Willed Body Program in Lubbock.
     Floyd was born June 17, 1934 in Pampa to Jim and Lucy Sackett. He was a 1952 Pampa High School graduate and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from McMurry University in Abilene. He furthered his education from West Texas State University obtaining his Master of Education Administration. Floyd married Janice Allman on June 15, 1957 in Hale Center. His first job after they married was in Sweetwater, where he served as the associate pastor of First United Methodist Church for a short period. In 1959, they moved to Pampa where he began his teaching career at Pampa Junior High. Later he moved to Robert E. Lee and served as assistant principal, and then became principal at Baker Elementary for 10 years. During his time as principal he was a keynote speaker for the National Education Association conventions. Floyd was an originator in mainstreaming special needs kids into the classrooms, individual teaching instruction, vertical education, and helped create diagnostic systems for children with learning disabilities. Floyd took a break from teaching for 10 years and worked as the executive director of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce, during this time he received an award from PRCA for his work with the Top O’ Texas Rodeo Association. He returned to Pampa High School in 1994 to serve as an assistant principal and finally retired in 2004.
     Floyd organized the Tri State Seniors Golf tournaments for over 20 years. He was a long-time member of the Pampa Lions Club where he served as the District Governor of 2T-1 from 1971-1972, also served on the board at the Texas Lions Cripple Children’s Camp in Kerrville. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, First Presbyterian Church, and Pampa Retired Teachers Association. Floyd enjoyed playing golf, reading, doing in wood inlay, and his Friday night poker games with his friends. He loved his family and will be missed.
     He is preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.
     Survivors include his wife, Janice Sackett of the home; a son, Rev. Ed Sackett and fiancé Dr. Lynette Watkins of San Antonio; 3 grandchildren, Lindsey McDowell and husband Brad and Lola Sackett all of Orlando, Florida and Karen Joy Turley of Logan, Utah; 2 great grandchildren, Eli McDowell and Emmy McDowell; 2 sisters, Billie Enterline of Long Beach, California and Dana Sue Bishop of Victoria; 2 brothers, Paul Sackett and wife Martha of Lewisville and Dan Sackett of Amarillo.

Barbara was born in Borger, Hutchinson County, TexasG, on 10 September 1946.2 She died aged 76 in Leander, Williamson County, TexasG, on 17 May 2023.2

     Charlie made the local news in Pampa in October 1977 when he caught and held a shoplifter at the grocery store where he was working at North Ballard, Pampa.6

Charlie Henry "C. H." Sackett, Sr., 69, passed away on August 14, 2013 in Amarillo.
     Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Briarwood Church, with Rev. Ronnie Blanchard, pastor of Daystar Worship Center in Wichita Falls, officiating. Burial will follow in Mobeetie Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
     Mr. Sackett was born October 10, 1943 in Pampa to J. D. and Lucy Sackett. He attended Pampa schools. He married Barbara Wakefield on April 17, 1964 in Pampa. Starting at age 15, Charlie worked in the grocery business for Clint & Sons and Ideal Foods. He later sold insurance and then hardware at Franks True Value and Bartlett's Lumber. He loved working with the public.
     Charlie will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed singing and loved to go dancing. He was an accomplished woodworker and avid recycler. Most of all, he enjoyed life with an infectious laugh. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, J. D. Sackett and Jerry Sackett, and two sisters, Edna Bryant and Vera Cornett.
     Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sackett of the home; two sons, Charlie Sackett, Jr., and wife Chris of Pampa, and Clint Sackett and wife Elaine of Round Rock; four grandchildren, Ashtin and Aaron Sackett, both of Pampa, and Luke and Noah Sackett, both of Round Rock; three brothers, Floyd Sackett and wife Janice of Pampa, Paul Sackett and wife Martha of Lewisville, and Dan Sackett and wife Bonnie of Amarillo; three sisters, Ruby Frost of Happy, Dana Sue Bishop of Karnes City, and Billie Enterline of Long Beach, California; a brother-in-law, Don Bryant of Amarillo, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and his two favorite pets, Jasper and Rowdy Sackett.
     In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, c/o Gerry Caylor, 2130 Charles, Pampa, Texas 79065, or the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231.

     Barbara was born September 10, 1946, in Borger, TX to Homer and Thelma Wakefield. She moved with her parents to Wichita Falls, TX where she grew up and attended school. Later moving to Pampa, TX where she met and married Charlie Sackett, the love of her life.
     Barbara attended Cosmetology school in Pampa, becoming a licensed beautician for many years. Later going into retail sales for CR Anthony Co. for 20 years. She also had the chance to work for LBS Rentals, starting in maintenance and to full time receptionist. Before retirement, Barbara worked at the Tea House in downtown Pampa.
     Mom spent many years on bowling leagues around the area, traveling to many states to compete in tournaments, collecting many trophies and patches along the way. She also enjoyed making photo albums for family members and close friends. Collecting all kinds of Knick-knacks on display around her house along with her wall of clocks.
     When family came into town Mom would always want to put on a big roast. Other joys in her life were the many Maltese and other kinds of fur babies she raised over the years.
     Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Charlie, her sister Mary Travis, three brothers, Orville Wakefield, James Wakefield and Thomas Wakefield.
     Barbara is survived by two sons, Charlie Sackett and wife Chris of Mont Belvieu, TX. Clint Sackett and wife Elaine of Leander, TX. Four grandchildren, Ashtin Martinez, and husband Joey. Aaron Sackett, Luke Sackett and fiancé Brooke Wells, Noah Sackett, and girlfriend Mykala Daigle. Great-grandchildren Gabi Joiner and Brendan Martinez, her fur baby Bentley and her best friend Billie Hupp.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

    The Pampa police report that Charlie H. Sackett, an employee of Ideal at 431 N. Ballard, reported that he was holding a suspect for shoplifting. The shoplifter was placed under arrest and issued a court summons and advised to contact the Municipal Court Judge this morning.

Frederick "Fritz" Sackett, son of Fred Sackett Jr and Dell Hughes Mitchell, was born in Coleman County, TexasG, on 19 December 1942.1 He died aged about 75 in Austin, Travis County, TexasG, in 2018.2
     Fritz served in the Vietnam War in 1966 as a trooper in the US 101st Airborne Division. He was wounded in action and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was later posted to Korea as a correspondent, and went on to become President Lyndon B Johnson's personal assistant and photographer for much of the Vietnam era, working at the Pentagon. Many of his photographs appeared in publications such as Life, Time, and Newsweek in the 1960s and 70s.2

Eric "Ricky" Sackett, son of Fred Sackett Jr and Dell Hughes Mitchell, was born in Austin, Travis County, TexasG, on 28 February 1947.1 He died aged 18 in VietnamG on 25 January 1966.1
     Ricky was one of 42 US Army troops killed along with 4 crew members when their USAF Fairchild C-123 transport plane crashed shortly after takeoff from An Khe Air Base, Vietnam. The cloud ceiling was just 300 feet and the aircraft, which also carried a load of ammunition and grenades, reportedly suffered an engine fire before crashing into a hillside.1,2
