Flora Susannah Sackett, daughter of Homer Sackett Jr and Flora Skiff, was born in Warren, ConnecticutG, on 4 May 1847.1,2 She died aged 85 in Waterbury, ConnecticutG, on 2 February 1933.3 She married in December 1868, Isaac Newton Russell, son of Samuel Russell and Betsy Tomlinson. Isaac was born in Great Hill, ConnecticutG, on 2 November 18343 and died aged 67 in Waterbury, ConnecticutG, on 11 April 1902.3
In 1850 Flora was living in Warren, Litchfield CountyG, and was recorded in the census as Flora Sackett, aged three and born in Connecticut. She was living with her parents Homer and Flora in the household of her grandparents Homer and Sarah.4
In 1860 she was living in WarrenG in the household of her father Homer and stepmother Julia, and was recorded as Flora Sackett, aged 13.5
In 1880 Flora was living at Watertown, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, in the household of her husband Isaac Russell, a dentist, and was recorded in the census as Flora Russell, a housewife, aged 33 and born in Connecticut. Living with them were their children, Annie, 9, and Homer, aged six. There was also a female servant in the household.6
In 1900 she was living at 43 Hillside Avenue, Waterbury, New Haven County, ConnecticutG, in the household of her husband Isaac, 65, and was recorded as Flora S Russell, aged 53 and born in Connecticut. Living with them were their unmarried children, Homer, 26, and Florence, 17. Also in the household were their married daughter Annie, 29, Annie's husband R William Hampson, 31, and their son Edmund, aged five.7

Flora Susannah Sackett was raised in Warren, Connecticut, among a tribe of Sacketts. Her beloved mother died when Flora was twelve years old, but she retained an attachment to Warren throughout her life. She returned to Warren for the birth of her third child, and her grandchildren remember visiting Lake Waramaug.
Two of her brothers served in the Civil War and wrote letters home to her.

Alexander T Sackett, son of David Filer Sackett MD and Martha Milliken, was born in Fayette County, IndianaG, on 22 January 1820.1 He died aged 45 on 31 March 1865.1,2 He married on 20 February 1845, Cornelia Clark Gilbert, daughter of William Gilbert and Anna Delamater.1
Alexander served as a Union soldier in the American Civil War. He was captured by the Confederates in McCook's Raid at Newnan, Georgia, in July 1864. After several months' imprisonment, he was exchanged in February 1865 at the NE Ferry of the Cape Fear river, then travelling to Wilmington, North Carolina, where he was to join a ship to Fort Monroe, Virginia. He died aboard the US Army Transport steamer General Lyon which was burned off Cape Hatteras and destroyed on 31 March 1865, with the loss of more than 500 passengers and crew.2

Alexander Sackett, 1820–1864, son of (1535) Dr. David F. and Martha Milliken Sackett, was married, Feb. 20, 1845, to Cornelia Clark Gilbert, daughter of William Gilbert and his wife Anna Delamater. Mr. Sackett was a Union veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted in 8th Iowa Cavalry, which was attached to the 15th Army Corps. After participating with credit in several engagements he was captured by the Confederates in McCook's raid at Newman, Georgia, and suffered confinement in several prisons. At length, in 1864, he was exchanged, and broken in health started north on the steamer General Lyon, which was lost with all on board between Fortress Monroe and Wilmington. In 1869 his widow married Hampton Olney, who died in 1883. In 1905 she was residing with her son, James A. Sackett, on a farm they own jointly near Dudley, Ill.

Smithfield, August 13. — Seriously ill since the first part of June, W.C. Sackett, aged 82, one of the oldest residents in Smithfield passed away at his home here at 11:54 Saturday morning. He had been failing for some little time. Complication of disease incident to old age caused death.
Up until the time he became bedfast Mr. Sackett was usually active, being seen in the vicinity of his farm. He was widely known and beloved by all in that vicinity. Mr Sackett was born about a mile west of Smithfield. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sackett. Nearly all his life was spent in Fayette county. During the war Mr. Sackett had charge of a wagon train of about 70 vehicles which conveyed supplies to troops in the Virginia valley.
In 1859 he was married to Miss Amelia Eberhart at the Presbyterian parsonage near Smithfield. To that union were born five children, three of whom survive.
His widow, aged 80, two sons, H. R. Sackett and S. M. Sackett, one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Leech, nine grand children, one of whom Is Mrs. Ray Kramer, of Uniontown and great grand children survive. Walter and Annie are the deceased children.
The only surviving sister is Mrs. Elizabeth Brownfield, of Nutt avenue, Uniontown.
Rev. Elliott, of the Presbyterian church will have charge of the funeral services which will be held in that church Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Interment in the Baptist cemetery.

After her husband's death Mrs. Brownfield moved to Uniontown, Pennsylvania, with her daughters, where she has resided since 1898, at No. 12 Nutt avenue. She is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and a most vivacious, courteous, charming lady of "ye olden time."
