Benjamin Richard Sackett, a wholesale hosier's clerk, son of Rev Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth Lee, was born in Elham, Kent^G, on 15 February 1860.^1,2 He died aged 89 at home at Rowanhurst, 20 St Leonard's Road, Hythe, Kent^G, on 21 September 1949.^3,4 He married in Elham^G in 1885, Frances Sarah Horton.⁵ She was born about 1858 and died aged 77 in Elham^G in 1935.⁶
     In 1861 Benjamin was living at Chapel Street, Hythe, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Benjamin Sackett, aged one, born in Hythe, Kent, in the household of his grandfather Richard Lee. (Benjamin would have been in the temporary care of his grandparents as his mother Elizabeth had given birth two weeks before the census date (7 April 1861) to a daughter Sarah A.)⁷
     In 1871 he was living at Fern Lane, Heston, Middlesex^G, and was recorded as Benjamin Richard Sackett, a scholar, aged 11, born in Hythe, the son of Benjamin Sackett.⁸
     In 1891 he was living at 3 Ethel Villas, Violet Road, Woodford, Essex^G, and was recorded as Benjamin R Sackett, a wholesale hosier's clerk (employed), head of household, married, aged 31, and born in Hythe, Kent. Living with him were his wife Frances, aged 33, and born in Hythe, their daughter Emily, 3, and niece Ida R Ashdown, aged four. Also in the household were a visitor, Frances J May, 30, and a 15-year-old female general servant.⁹
     In 1901 he was living at Essex Villa, Derby Road, Woodford^G, and was recorded as Benjamin Sackett, a wholesale hosier's clerk, head of household, married, aged 41 and born in Hythe, Kent. Living with him were his wife Frances, 43, their daughter Emily, 13, and Frances's unmarried sisters, Annie Horton, 33, and Ruth Horton, 29. Also in the household was a female general domestic servant.¹⁰
     Benjamin was listed at Essex Villa in 1902 and 1906.^11,12,13,14
     In 1911 Frances was living at Mornington, St Leonard's Road, Hythe^G, and was recorded as Frances Sarah Sackett, head of household, aged 53 and born in Hythe. Living with her was her unmarried daughter Emily, aged 23.¹⁵
     In 1918 Benjamin was living at Rowanhurst, St Leonard's Road, Hythe, Kent^G.^16,17
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Benjamin was living at 20 St Leonard's Road, Hythe^G, with his widowed daughter Emily. He was a retired clerk at a hosiery manufacturers.¹⁸
     Benjamin left a will which was proved on 16 December 1949 by his daughter Emily. His estate was valued at £6,314.¹⁹

Rev George Whitefield Sackett, Independent Congregational minister, son of Rev Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth Lee, was born in Langford, Oxfordshire^G, on 26 March 1873.^1,2 He died aged 82 at home at Wood Lynne, Stocksbridge, Sheffield, Yorkshire^G, on 28 March 1955.^3,2,4 He married first in St George in the East, London^G, in 1902, Elizabeth Finlay Kingston.⁵ She was born about 1873⁸ and died aged 63 in 1936.^2,9 He married second in Wortley, Yorkshire^G, in 1937, Mary Hannah Jubb.^6,7,2
     George Whitfield Sackett (who was surely named after George Whitfield (or Whitefield), the evangelist and a founder of Methodism) served in a number of English parishes during his ministry—Paton, Nottingham, 1899–1902; St Mary's, Morley, Yorkshire (assistant), 1902–05; Todmorden, Yorkshire, 1905–12; Netherfield, Penistone, Yorkshire, 1913–18; South Ockenden, Essex 1919–24; Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, 1924–29; and Stocksbridge, Sheffield, Yorkshire, 1929–47. In 1918–19 he was engaged in Army work with the Young Men's Christian Association in Salonica, Greece.²

     In 1901 he was living at 2 Chaucer Street, Wanstead, Essex^G, in the household of his widowed mother Elizabeth, and was recorded as George W Sackett, a theological student, single, aged 28 and born in Langford, Oxford.¹²
     In 1911 he was living at 14 Beaumont Street, Todmorden, Yorkshire^G, and was recorded as George Whitefield Sackett, Congregational minister, head of household, married, aged 38 an born in Langford, Oxfordshire. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 38, and their children, Benjamin, 7, Winifred, 6, and Irene, aged three.¹³
     George served with the British Army during the First World War as a chaplain with the Young Mens Christian Association, serving in France from August 1916.^14,15
     In 1921 he was living at The Manse, South Ockendon, Essex^G, and was recorded as George Whitefield Sackett, a Congregational Minister, head of household, aged 48. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 49, and their children, Benjamin, 18, Winifred, 16, and Irene, aged 13.¹⁶

Robert Moffat Sackett, son of Rev Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth Lee, was born in Mile End, Middlesex^G, in 1880.¹ He died in Burwood, New South Wales, Australia^G, in 1951.² He married in West Ham, Essex^G, in 1905, Susan Maud Oliver, daughter of Richard Oliver and Susan ___.³ She died in Burwood^G in 1954.⁴

     Robert first emigrated to Australia, with his wife Susan and their three-month-old daughter Phyllis, arriving in Sydney, New South Wales^G, via Brisbane, from London on 22 January 1910.^8,9,10 Robert (presumably with his wife and daughter) returned to England in 1914, arriving in London on 6 June 1914 on the Orontes from Brisbane, Australia^G. He intended to stay permanently.¹¹ Their son Robert Lee Sackett was born in England in 1918. Speaking in 2010 from his home in a retirement village on the outskirts of Sydney, Robert Lee recalled that the family returned to Australia in 1919 when he was 18 months old.¹²

John Wesley Sackett, son of Rev Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth Lee, was born in Langford, Oxfordshire^G, in 1875.^1,2 He died aged 57 at home at 33 Pendle Road, Streatham, London^G, on 4 October 1932^3,4 and was buried at Hornchurch Cemetery, Essex^G, on 7 October 1932.⁷ He married at St George in the East, London^G, in 1898, Ada Wiles, daughter of Thomas Wiles and Martha ___.^5,6 Ada was born in St George in the East, London^G, on 23 July 1875.^8,9,10 She died aged 81 at home at 279 Leigham Court Road, Streatham, London^G, on 3 December 1956^11,4 and was buried at Hornchurch Cemetery, Essex^G, on 7 December 1956.¹²

     In 1921 he was living at 33 Pendle Road, Streatham^G, and was recorded as John W Sackett, a bookkeeper at a stevedores company, head of household, aged 46. Living with him were his wife Ada, 45, and Ada's widowed mother Martha Wiles.¹⁷
     John left a will which was proved on 1 December 1932 by his widow Ada. His estate was valued at £7,538.¹⁸
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, John's widow Ada was living at 33 Pendle Road, Wandsworth, London^G.¹⁹
     John's widow Ada left a will which was proved on 2 April 1957 by Amelia Baker and William Hatch. Her estate was valued at £4,545.²⁰

Annie Catherine Dowker Sackett, daughter of Rev Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth Lee, was born in Brentford, Middlesex^G, in 1868.¹ She died aged 87 on 24 January 1956.² She married at St George in the East, Middlesex^G, on 4 September 1894, Edward Baylis, son of James Daniel Baylis and Elizabeth Matilda Hallam.^3,4,5 Edward was born about 1865.² He died on 11 April 1937.²
     In 1871 Annie was living at Fern Lane, Harefield, Middlesex^G, and was recorded in the census as Annie Catherine Dorothy Sackett, aged two and born in Ealing, Middlesex, the daughter of Benjamin Sackett.^6,7
