Results of the Committee elections held in April 2015

The Committee approved on 8 May 2015 an announcement of the results of the elections held in April.

Voting in this year's election of members to TSFA Committee closed on 30 April. The election was for four members to form the class of 2018. There were four candidates, Glenna Hertzler, Thurmon King, Liesa Robarge, and Ted Smith, and these were elected unopposed for a three-year term, forming the class of 2018. Election of these candidates was endorsed by the votes of 45 members of the Association.

The Committee now comprises:
Class of 2016: Terri Carlson, Patty Chrisman, Anne Murray, and Chris Sackett
Class of 2017: Lyle Brelsford, Richard Price, Byra G Sackett, and Charles "Chuck" Sackett
Class of 2018: Glenna Hertzler, Thurmon King, Liesa Robarge, and Ted Smith



Resolution of the Committee of The Sackett Family Association approved on 18 May 2015

It was resolved that the following be elected to serve as officers of the Committee for the ensuing year: Ted Smith, president; Lyle Brelsford, vice president; Anne Murray, secretary; and Terri Carlson, registrar.

Ted Smith, President, opened the meeting with a draft agenda to which attendees could contribute.

Terri Carlson spoke about “Charles Weygant’s Error - Who really was the father of my 4g-grandfater, Daniel Sackett”. She showed us how she and her niece Jeanette Otis (TSFA member) felt Charles had gone wrong in his research.

Discussion of contributions made to the Association.

Discussion of next reunion to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, possibly in 2017 although later possibility of holding it in 2016 to put reunions back on track with the original schedule since the one in 2015 should have been held in 2014. Terri Carlson, Liesa Robarge, and Mary Volberding offered to plan the next reunion. Following Salt Lake City the next reunion is planned to be held 2 years later in England.

Ted Smith opened the discussion of Thurmon King's New Sackett Family Database found online at http://sackett-tree.org/. There was some discussion of backing up the database, and Acceptable Use policies. The following was discussed as procedures to be put before the committee for approval:

  • Each person contributing information must
    • Cite the source
    • Add his or her name as contributor
  • All person names added will have at least one associated event that has at least one source
  • What can be uploaded
    • Living persons flagged, so viewing restricted to only those with advanced access rights
    • Copyrighted information must have annotation similar to "used by permission of…" in order to be included on the Sackett database
  • Downloaded and/or copied data may only be used for personal use and not for sale or republication. The data cannot be reproduced in its entirety except for administrative purposes.
  • Add an "acceptance of use" page prior to entering site. User must agree before using the database.

We closed with Michael Sackett’s discussion of his ancestry and his mother’s diaries from World War II.



Resolution of the Committee of The Sackett Family Association approved on 14 November 2015

On the proposal of Chris Sackett, it was resolved that Patti Hobbs be appointed Administrator of the Sackett DNA Project.
