Duaine J Sackett, son of Duaine Rolland Sackett and Marie Clarice Lawrence, was born in Litchfield, Montgomery County, IllinoisG, on 30 September 1921.1,2 He died there aged 78 on 27 December 1999 and was buried at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Honey Bend, Montgomery CountyG.4,5,6,7,8 He married first in St Charles, MissouriG, on 25 November 1942, Stella Marie Bethel, daughter of Ira Bethel and Stella Irene Linton.3 Stella Bethel was born in Gillespie, Macoupin County, IllinoisG, on 1 February 1924.2 They divorced sometime before 1950. Stella later married Virgil E Dey sometime after the death of his frst wife in 1976. Stella died aged 85 in Carlinville, Macoupin County, IllinoisG, on 21 September 20099 and was buried at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, CarlinvilleG.6 Duaine married second in Rock Island, IllinoisG, on 24 September 1950, Phyllis Lorraine VanTheemsche, daughter of Fred VanTheemsche and Edith Putnam. Phyllis was born in Rock Island, IllinoisG, on 10 July 1928.10,11 She died aged 71 in LitchfieldG on 10 January 2000 and was buried at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Honey Bend, Montgomery CountyG.10,11,12
     In 1930 Duaine was living at North Illinois Avenue, LitchfieldG, in the household of his parents Duaine and Marie, and was recorded in the census as Duane Sackett Jr, aged eight and born in Illinois.13
     In 1940 he was living at Walnut Street, LitchfieldG, in the household of his parents Duaine and Marie, and was recorded as Duane Sackett Jr, aged 18.14
     Duaine completed a World War II draft registration card on 16 February 1942. He was aged 20 and was living at 1303 North Walnut Street, LitchfieldG. His father of the same address was next of kin.15
     Duaine served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army during the Second World War from 31 July 1942 to 26 October 1945.4,8,16,17
     In 1950 he was living at Rock Island, IllinoisG, and was recorded as Duaine Sackett, a sales clerk in a food market, aged 28, divorced.18
     In 1950 Stella was living at Osie Street, Gillespie, Macoupin County, IllinoisG, and was recorded in the census as Stella M Sackett, a secretary, a widow [sic], aged 26. Her sons, Robert, 3, and Denis, 2, were living with her.19

The First Baptist church. Rock Island, will be the scene Sunday of the marriage of Miss Phyllis Lorraine Van Theemsche and Duaine S. Sackett, Jr. The ceremony will be performed at 2:30 p. m. and a reception in the Moose home, Rock Island, will be from 4 to 10 p.m. Hugo Beckman's orchestra will play for dancing from 5 to 9 p. m.
     No invitations are being sent but all friends and relatives are welcome to attend both the service and reception.
     Parents of the betrothed couple are Messrs. and Mesdames Fred Van Theemsche, 1627 Fourteenth street, Rock Island, and Duaine S. Sackett, Litchfield, Ill.
     The bride-elect has been honored at several prenuptial events recently. Mrs. Vila Rea, Edgewater place, Rock Island, was hostess at a linen shower. Mesdames Hazel Seaton and Jane Cooper entertained at a miscellaneous shower in the former's home, 4422 Ninth street, Rock Island, and the bride-elect received miscellaneous gifts at a party in the home of Mrs. Ray J. Griff, 4005 Eighteenth avenue, Rock Island, when Mrs. Charles E. Van Theemsche was the assisting hostess.

Wed Sunday — Miss Phyllis Lorraine VanTheemsche, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred VanTheemsche, 1627 Fourteenth street, Rock Island, became the bride of Duaine J. Sackett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Duaine S. Sackett, Litchfield, Ill., at 2:30 p. m. Sunday in the First Baptist church, Rock Island. Rev. Vernon MacNeill officiated.
     The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Charles E. VanTheemsche, wore a gown of lace and net over satin, fashioned with a long train. Her fingertip length veil fell from a tiara of seed pearls, and she carried a bouquet of white carnations.
     Mrs. Charles Brotherton, Washington, Ia., sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Mrs. Al Cooper, Rock Island, was bridesmatron and Miss Pauline Oches was bridesmaid. Ginny D. Nierengarten, Rock Island, was flower girl, and Johnnie Kisk, Rock Island, was ringbearer.
     Charles Brotherton was best man. Guests were seated by Thomas Martzahn, Davenport, and Clifford Schade, Rock Island.
     A reception for 200 guests was held from 4 to 10 p. m. at the Moose home, Rock Island. For traveling on a short wedding trip, the bride chose a blue suit with blue accessories.
     Mrs. Sackett attended Rock Island high school and is employed at J. J. Newberry Co., Rock Island. Her husband was graduated from Litchfield high school and served three years in the army. He is employed at the National Tea Co., Bettendorf. The couple will reside at 924½ Fourteenth-and-a-half street, Rock Island.

Litchfield — Duaine J. Sackett Jr., 78, of Litchfield died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
     He was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Litchfield, the son of Duaine R. and Clarise Marie Lawrence Sackett. He married Phyllis Lorraine VanTheemsche in Rock Island.
     Mr. Sackett was employed as a radio dispatcher with the Litchfield Police department before his retirement and he also owned and operated Sackett Cab Company for several years.
     He was a World War II Army veteran having attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield and had served as a Sunday school teacher and youth counselor.
     Survivors: wife, Phyllis; two sons, Robert Duaine Sackett of Worlan, Wyo., and Dennis Lee Sackett of Peoria; a daughter, Linda Lee Fry of Chasks, Minn; three grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Murray of Pana.
     Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Plummer Funeral Home, Litchfield, the Rev. Gary Allen officiating. Burial: Cedar Ridge Cemetery, South Litchfield.

Litchfield — Phyllis Lorraine Sackett, 71, of Litchfield died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in her home.
     She was born July 10, 1928, in Rock Island, the daughter of Fred and Edith Putman VanTheemsche. She married Duaine J. Sackett Jr. in Rock Island; he preceded her in death in 1999.
     Mrs. Sackett, a homemaker, was a high school graduate. She worked at J.J. Newberry Co. in Rock Island as a sign painter, designed window displays and was a dispatcher for Sackett Cab Co., the family business.
     Survivors: two stepsons, Robert Duaine Sackett of Worlan, Wyo., and Dennis Lee Sackett of Normal; a daughter, Linda Lee (husband, Richard) Frey of Chasksa, Minn; five grandchildren; and a brother, Charles (wife, Irene) VanTheemsche of Rock Island.
     Services: 10 a.m. today, Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield, the Rev. Gary Allen officiating. Burial: Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.

Carlinville — Stella Marie Dey, 85, of Carlinville, died Monday evening, September 21, 2009, at Carlinville Area Hospital.
     Survivors: son, Denis Sackett (Michelle) of Bloomington, IL; daughter, Diana Joiner (Greg) of Carlinville, IL; daughter-in-Law, Donna Burnett (Jerry) of Girard, IL; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Duaine Sackett, son of Duaine J Sackett and Stella Marie Bethel, was born in Litchfield, Montgomery County, IllinoisG, on 7 July 1946.1 He died aged 59 in Worland, Washakie County, WyomingG, on 13 February 2006 and was buried at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, WorlandG.1,2 He married on 10 January 1984, Terra Nichols.1 They later divorced.1

Worland — The funeral for Robert D. "R.D." Sackett, 59, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Worland by Bishop Craig Whitlock. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland, with military honors accorded by Worland American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
     Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at Bryant Funeral Home of Worland; and one hour prior to service-time Monday at the church.
     He died Feb. 13, 2006, at his home.
     Born July 7, 1946, in Litchfield, Ill., he was the son of Stella Marie (Bethel) and Duaine Sackett Jr; and moved with his family to Carlinville, Ill., where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Carlinville High School in 1964.
     He joined the U.S. Air Force and served for four years at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne.
     A Wyoming Highway Patrolman until 1979, he then moved to Worland and became under-sheriff with the Washakie County Sheriff's Department until 1994.
     On Jan. 10, 1984, he married Terra Nichols. The couple later divorced.
     He also worked for R&C Trucking and, at the time of his death, was employed by Olind Safety.
     His interests included spending time with his son in the outdoors; driving and shooting; and being with his family and friends. He held a private pilot's license.
     Survivors include his mother, Stella Dey; his son, Eric, of Worland; two sisters, Sara Sackett and her husband of Worland and Andria Sackett of Colorado; brother, Denis Sackett, and his wife of Normal, Ill; sister, Diana Joiner, and her husband of Carlinville; a granddaughter; four nieces; three nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his father in December 1999; and his stepmother, Phyllis, in 2000.
     Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.

Bloomington - Denis L. Sackett, age 75, of Bloomington, IL, passed away at 6:24 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at his residence.
     His memorial service will be 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. Pastor Chuck Bahn will be officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by the Bloomington -Normal American Legion Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon, Tuesday at the memorial home.
     The family suggests memorials be made to the Bloomington -Normal American Legion Honor Guard.
     Denis was born October 4, 1947, in Litchfield, IL, the son of Stella Bethel. He married Michelle Tosh on June 8, 1985, in Bloomington, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his three children: Shawne (Jason) Geisler, Olathe, KS, Kimberly (Richard) Hon, Greenwood, IN, Grant Sackett at home, Bloomington, IL; five grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Addison and Haley Geisler, Miley Sackett and Logan Hon; sister, Diana (Greg) Joiner, Carlinville, IL. Denis was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather and his brother.
     Denis served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was active leader in the formation of the Bloomington -Normal American Legion Honor Guard.
     Denis had worked for Unit 5 School at Normal Community High School for many years where he was the night custodian. He was a Security Officer for US Security Associates at Heartland Community College and most recently for Allied Universal Security Company at Rivian Automotive. Denis was an avid gun enthusiast with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be missed by all who knew him.
