Dorothy Rosina M Sackett, daughter of Leonard Samuel Sackett and Dorothy I Burgess, was born in Fulham, London^G, on 17 June 1929.^1,2 She died aged 62 in Richmond-upon-Thames, London^G, in April 1992.³ She married in Kensington, London^G, in 1948, Charles G Ball.⁴
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Dorothy was a schoolgirl living at 40 Lurgan Avenue, Fulham^G, with her widowed mother.⁵

Richard Royston Sackett, son of Leonard Samuel Sackett and Dorothy I Burgess, was born in Fulham, London^G, on 19 March 1934.^1,2 He died aged 64 in Surrey^G on 7 September 1998.^3,4 He married in Fulham^G in 1957, Dorothy C Pike.⁵

     Leo enlisted in the US Army, Alaska department, at Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky^G, on 6 January 1940.⁷

Evart John Sackett, son of Arthur Monroe Sackett and Bertha Desdemona Parsons, was born in Barry County, Michigan^G, on 7 February 1896.^1,2 He died aged 69 in Manatee County, Florida^G, on 8 November 1965^1,3 and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia^G, on 12 November 1965.^6,7 He married first in Caro, Tuscola County, Michigan^G, on 1 January 1920, Melba Elaine Shader, daughter of Delwain Shader and De Letta Micks.⁴ Melba was born in Michigan^G about 1901.⁸ He married second at the Naka-ku Registrar's Office, Yokohama, Japan^G, on 28 May 1946, Emma Louise Carroll.⁵
     In 1900 Evart was living in Irving, Barry County, Michigan^G, in the household of his parents Arthur and Bertha, and was recorded in the census as Evart J Sackett, aged four and born in Michigan.⁹
     In 1910 he was living at Gilford Town Avenue, Indianfields, Tuscola County, Michigan^G, in the household of his parents Arthur and Bertha, and was recorded as Evart Sackett, aged 14.¹⁰
     In 1920 he was living at Quinn Avenue, Caro, Tuscola County, Michigan^G, and was recorded as Evart J Sackett, a bookkeeper in a factory, aged 23. He and his wife Melba, 18, were living in the household of Melba's grandfather, Nelson Micks, 79, and Melba's mother, De Letta, 50. Evart's mother and sister were living three doors away.¹¹
     In 1930 he was living at Robinwood Avenue, Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan^G, and was recorded as Evart J Sackett, a self-employed grocer, head of household, aged 34. He owned his home. Living with him was his wife Melba, 28.¹²
     Evart enlisted in the US Army as a first sergeant in the Coast Artillery Corps, National Guard, at Detroit, Michigan^G, on 24 February 1941. He was later promoted to chief warrant officer.^13,7
