Lotta Mae Chase, daughter of Warren Jasper Chase and Bell Leona Engle, was born in PennsylvaniaG about 1906.1 Lotta was put up for adoption by her father, Warren Jasper Chase, after the death of her mother, Belle Leona Engle, in Pennsylvania in 1910. Her adopted family's father worked in the oil industry, and they moved to Oklahoma to work in the rapidly expanding oil industry. Her name was changed to Gretta Charlotte Sorrell. She never lost touch with her real family, and knew her brothers and sisters, and her father, but probably had a better life with her adopted family due to economic circumstances.2
