Ray E Sackett, son of John Allen Sackett and Effie Janet Key, was born in Burwell, Garfield County, NebraskaG, on 7 March 1892.3,4 He died aged 51 on 31 December 19432,5 and was buried at Ashland Cemetery, Saunders County, NebraskaG.7 He married about 1921, Eleanor V Koziol.2,6 Eleanor was born in NebraskaG in 1903. She died on 5 January 1944 and was buried at Ashland CemeteryG.7 Both Ray and Eleanor died of injuries sustained when their car crashed near Wahoo, Nebraska, on New Year's Eve, 1943.
In 1900 Ray was living in Valley Township, Guthrie County, IowaG, in the household of his father John and stepmother Marguerite, and was recorded in the census as Ray L Sackett, aged eight and born in Iowa.8
Ray completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was aged 25, single, a sheep herder at Kinsey, Custer County, MontanaG.9
Ray served as a Private in the US Army during the First World War. He sailed from New York to France in August 1918 with Company D, 338th Machine Gun Battalion, 88th Division, and returned from St Nazaire, France, in May 1919.10
In 1920 he was living in Van Meter, Dallas County, IowaG, and was recorded as Ray Sackett, a farm laborer, aged 27, single.11
In 1930 he was living in Springfield, Sarpy County, NebraskaG, and was recorded as Ray E Sackett, a driller at a cement plant, head of household, aged 38. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Eleanor, 26, and their children, Irene, 7, Josephine, 4, Leland, 2, and LaVerne, aged eleven months.12

Thomas Sackett
Thomas Sackett, fisherman of St John in Thanet, Kent, was born say 1695. He died before 8 July 1768, when his will was proved. He may have been the Thomas Sackett buried at St John in ThanetG on 16 January 1753.3 He married at Harbledown, KentG, on 24 February 1717/18, Ann Moyse, daughter of Thomas Moyse and Mary ___.1,2 Ann was baptized at St John in ThanetG on 7 July 1695.4 She died aged 82 and was buried there on 22 January 1775.5
Thomas's parents have not been identified, although he may have been the Thomas Sackett baptized at St John in Thanet in November 1693, the son of Richard Sackett, or the Thomas Sackett baptized at St John in Thanet in February 1696/97, the son of Paul Sackett.
Thomas made his will at St John in ThanetG on 19 February 1752. He left his house, goods and chattels to his wife Anne, with reversion of the house to his children, Thomas, Mary, and John. The will was proved on 8 July 1768.6
