     Ashmon was named as the main beneficiary in the will of his father Roland made in Westfield^G on 2 May 1882. He was to inherit all the real and personal estate, subject to his paying his brother Enoch $400, his brother Roland $300, and his sister Marilla $100.⁵

Augustus J Sackett, farmer, son of Roland Sacket and Sally Phelps, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, in 1829.^1,2 He died there aged 51 on 3 June 1881³ and was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield^G. He married in Westfield^G on 18 January 1854, Sybil J Clark, daughter of Henry Clark and Irene ___.⁴ Sybil was born in Granville, Hampden County^G, about 1828.⁵ She died there aged 49 on 8 July 1877.⁶

     In 1860 he was living in Southwick, Hampden County^G, and was recorded as Augustus Sacket, a farmer, aged 28. Living with him were his wife Sybil, 32, and their children, Emogene, 2, and Maryenetta, aged ten months.⁸
     In 1870 he was living in Southwick, Hampden County, Massachusetts^G, and was recorded as Augustus Sackett, a farmer, aged 39. Living with him were his wife Sybil, 42, and their children, Irena, 12, Nettie, 10, and Lucy, aged nine. There was also a farm laborer in the household.⁹
