Henry "Harry" Sackett, blacksmith, son of Robert Sackett and Mary Ann Lazell, was born in Dagenham, EssexG, on 27 October 18711,2,3 and baptized there on 27 October 1872.4 He died aged 70 at home at 24 Philip Road, Rainham, EssexG, on 23 April 19425,6 and was buried at Rippleside Cemetery, Barking, EssexG, on 28 April 1942.7 He married in St Peter & St Paul Church, DagenhamG, on 9 January 1894, Louisa Elizabeth Mathison, daughter of Thomas Mathison and Caroline Winter.8,9 Louisa was born in Eton Wick, BuckinghamshireG, on 8 September 1869.2,3 She married second, in RomfordG in 1944, Alexander Allen.10,11 She died aged 86 in RomfordG in 1956.10,12
     In 1881 Henry was living at Bull Inn, Bull Street, Dagenham, EssexG, in the household of his parents Robert and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Henry Sackett, a scholar, aged nine and born in Dagenham.13
     In 1891 he was living at Bull Street, DagenhamG, in the household of his parents Robert and Mary, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a blacksmith (farrier), aged 19 and born in Dagenham.14
     In 1901 he was living at 6 Rosedale Terrace, Rainham, EssexG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a blacksmith's farrier, head of household, married, aged 29, and born in Dagenham. Living with him were his wife Louisa, aged 31, and their children, Jessie, 6, Jennie, 5, Leonard, 2, and Ernest, aged one. Also in the household was a nephew, David Mattison, aged five.15
     In 1911 he was living at 6 Rosedale Terrace, RainhamG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a blacksmith, head of household, aged 39 and born in Dagenham. Living with him were his wife Louisa, 41, and their children, Leonard, 12, Ernest, 11, Robert, 6, and Emily, aged two.16
     In 1921 he was living at 1 Cecil Terrace, New Road, DagenhamG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a transport worker at Tilbury Docks, head of household, aged 49. Living with him were his wife Louisa, 51, and their children, Leonard, 22, Ernest, 21 (with his wife Sarah), Robert, 16, Emily, 12, Alfred, 10, and David, aged seven. There was also a male boarder in the household.17
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Henry and Louisa were living at Northumberland Villa, Philip Road, Hornchurch, EssexG. Both were old age pensioners Their son Alfred was living with them. Also in the household was Alexander Allen, later to become Louisa's second husband.18
     Administration of Henry's estate was granted on 13 July 1942 to his widow Louisa. His estate was valued at £539.19
